- Blacksmiths forge many bottle openers. But it seems we give them away and never have one when we need it. Today lets forge a wall mounted bottle opener that hopefully will stay screwed to the wall where it will be available when needed.
Black Bear Forge is a small one person blacksmith shop located in southern Colorado. My current focus is shifting away from commissions and customer orders and towards education through these videos on RUclips. Thank you for watching

That’s funny John I new exactly what the Corona beer was for as soon as I seen it lol
It was a bit obvious
James Branden and others in this thread, the sad part is some will believe this, that is about Corona beer vs virus. Great Video and I like your Humor. John, Australia.
I have bad news for you John. Your beer cooler is probably going to quit working in the next couple months (but it will self-repair itself in another eight or nine months).
John you’re an absolute riot!!! Best blacksmith channel on RUclips by far.
Yep!!
Agreed!
👍🏻
Master BlackSmith teacher I say
Thanks Mr. John Switzer
Just going out to my forge to make one of these right now; funnily enough, I was drinking a bottle of Corona while watching, having opened it with my first ever bottle opener I made a few weeks ago.
Thanks for inspiring us.
need a hook to hang a bucket to catch the caps in, stay safe
If you place a small magnet just under the opener, it will catch the caps for you! Great project and great video!!
I like the joke at the end! Haha
I love that, doing our part🤣
That is the next item to be made on my anvil. Great message at the end too, good solid common sense.
Nicely done enjoy the humor. Yes make some of the slotted jaw tongs.
Hello from Shanghai, China! What crazy times these are. We’re all wearing face masks in my shop these days.
Its tough, but then again we probably should wear a mask in the shop just because of all the dust.
Black Bear Forge I agree with that. I’ve never been fond of masks, but I will get used to them in the shop. It’s just that now we have to wear masks to go anywhere. We are required to wear masks even in the office. I hope this is under control everywhere soon.
Fun time. Working on organizing my garage now that I have retired. I have some old tools to play with again mainly for metal.😊
Man I am so thirsty I need a beer awesome John 👍all the way from Sunny Ireland
One of the great things about snow outside is the unlimited refrigeration!
So glad you had this video. I've been wanting to forge one of these for a while and having something to reference as I work makes life a lot easier.
Glad I could help!
i like it less chance of spilling your drink
Always enjoy hanging out in your shop John. Thanks for the invite.
"Man with corona virus , seeks woman with lime disease"
Looks like my next project! No matter how many bottle openers you make ya never have one around. LOL
The Bob Ross of blacksmithing. Thanks for another awesome video.
Excellent project with your usual flare and skill. Really liked the public health advice and delivery.
I love those slotted tongs. I think I know what I'm making this weekend.
Great video John... Best blacksmithing channel ever!
Might be an anti-corona cure. Now need to make a nice little bucket to catch the bottle caps. Thanks John :-)
Nothing can stop a thirsty man !!! Lol
Thanks for sharing
A truly beautiful thing watching and even better shaping metal in its plastic state no matter how simple the form.
That was fun. I have never made a bottle opener because we have very few bottles that use one here in Atlantic Canada. The only place we do have them is indeed Corona Beer. Having said that, I think I will make one of these ones. Good fun... Thank-You for showing this great little project. OBTW, I just started a new FB Page called "Ken's Maple Leaf Forge". I am retired and just keeping busy with it....
That is a brilliant bottle opener and I would make one like it........ but I don't drink bear and it........ actually, I could make some to give away 😁
I didn't actually know that there was a beer called Corona until the Corona virus started. I hope virus does what the last major virus did and basically mutated to a much less serious form before it could go through a really insane percentage of the worlds population. Stay safe everyone 👍
Lets hope so. Something like this can really devastate people that can't afford to take a day off, much less a few weeks.
Awesome! A tiny dab of epoxy and a magnet glued on the inside will save you picking up a lot of beer caps from the floor... :)
That is why milling machines and lathes were invented. To take the frustration out of making holes and slotted holes. Thank goodness.
Milling machine seems a bit extreme for a bottle opener
Thanks John. Great video and advice as always. Just a reminder like you said alcohol and shop work don't mix, this includes any work really, weather it's chainsawing trees or doing your taxes... Doing that now, being intoxicated can ruin more than just your day.
LOL. How about teaching us how to put in new faceplates on that beautiful vise?
The beer was a nice touch!!!
Blacksmithing is a great way to stay away from people on my off time!
You are the best teacher, John! If it wasn't for your videos, I would probably never gotten into the hobby of blacksmithing. Thanks for all you do brother.
I am glad to be able to encourage your progress. Enjoy
Nice! This is something that I think will sell.
That turned out great, John! I would have never pegged you for a Corona man. Keep up the great work 👍
Made me laugh! Thanks John!
Super cool project! I particularly enjoyed the liberal use of the mank tank!
Why didnt i think about this, Genius. 👍
Thank you, Awesome.🍻
Thanks for another great video! And you are right, the bevel and lines really kick it up a notch!
Mmm, now I want a beer.
A very nice project, and it's always a pleasure to watch you work and listen to your thought processes.
I love the old cast iron bear-head opener too. I feel bad for him that he's so old and toothless that he can't open his own beers. 😢
right, im off to go and make one! (great excuse to have a beer) great job. Keep it up dude.
One of your best, Sir!!!
Just found your channel. Love what I'm seeing so far
I really appreciate the links in the description
I apprecieate that someone actually took the time to look 😉
@@BlackBearForge as a beginner it's really helpful
Another great project John. The beer was a great touch.
and a good excuse to buy beer
Cool video. Enjoyed watching it and learning a new type of bottle opener. Thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Agree with the comment below "Best blacksmith channel on RUclips by far."
I really appreciate your channel- the bottle opener is a work of art! I laughed out loud with the Corona Virus comment.
my sides are sore , love the ending to an educational vid , going to try to adapt your design into the door handle of a man cave
Now you need a fancy container under the opener to catch the caps.
Great project. For some reason I have always wanted to combine a wall bottle opener with an animal’s head. In your case, a bear’s head would make sense. However I haven’t the talent to conjure up the notion of how the bear’s mouth or teeth might achieve opening a bottle.
Hello John
I like you you a guy with a lot of Humor and knollege
Corona beer is the best treatment against the Virus
I also Think so
Here in Germany the Panik Starts very slowly but steddy
But it dosent Matter to me
I do as you say stay home wash your hands and dont Panik
Your bottleopener is a very usefull Projekt and thanks for sharing it with us
All the best to you and your family
Greeting
Yours Frank
Thank you, glad you are enjoying the videos
Sweet Project, funny Corona commentary I was wondering when I saw the bottle lol
My our almighty God blese you add you many years to teach far as in Masai Mara game reserve in Kenya.God love you
That's awesome I wasn't sure how you were gonna bend it up but it's really cool
Ah huevo tenía que ser una CORONA 🇲🇽
Great video, John! Nice bottle opener ! Now I have to go out and buy some Corona Extra! Lol! See ya next time.
Great pun, maybe a cap catcher pan might be nice.
Nice work John. Looks really good. That would look good on a wall in any house.
Great video again. Father-in-law just remodeled his bbq patio. Looks like this will be a great gift addition for it!
There might be some who think drinking that beer can give you the virus, but that one article that started that failed to mention that 38% are people who won’t drink Corona period, not because they think they’ll get sick.
But that’s a cool bottle opener! Definitely gives me some inspiration for when I get my forge set up squared away soon.
Love your PSA at the end!
Ok, I need to make some bottle openers. Need one in the shop.
Like the idea of looking for other applications, the escussion for a door knob or key lock would look good 👍❤️
That was one pain the rump but I like it. Thanks for sharing ,
I agree we are some of the best folks for getting on with our choirs
Thanks for showing us and teaching us
Really like that 1
Great video. I've been thinking about making a wall mount for a while. Thanks for sharing. Loved the Corona in the snow shot. Made me lol.
Thanks
I knew, I'd seen this. Excellent!!👍👍
It would be neat to bronze brush it too
A tip for hook of the week
I saw an ad in a hunting magasine..
cast Iron Dog butt hook😁
2 legs and a tail, tail was the hook
To fix the bear, maybe a Dremel or a triangle file could reshape those teath again so he is a useful part of the shop once again 🤔
Nice project..well done sir!
Yes I bought a six pack of Corona myself. Good tip on the spacer for the leg vice. Thanks, B.K.
A wall mounted bottle opener. John, you're a genius!
What a great looking bottle opener. I might have to make one. As always John great video and I look forward to the next.
sir, you are a champion
Always awesome John. Love the finishing touches you put on it.
Nice project. Enjoyed.
Haha I’m dying over the corona beer first thought was John rant! 😂😂😂😂😂
Looking at this opener as it is now it would make a great little hand matti. For gardening or digging roots! Such as ginsang or ramps! Done with a heavier flat strap
Another great project.. I love the humor my friend. Thank you 👍🔨🍻🍻🍻
Hmm, hiding out in the shop sounds great! To bad for having a job next to this though ;-)
Great video John, turned out great. Thanks for sharing with us, so enjoyable. Fred
Nailed it again sir
Haha, cheers! Nice opener.
Thanks John sometimes ya crack me up ON Ya
So you usually don't have a crowd around working area. Stay safe 🙏
Great project. It reminds me of a bottle opener that one of my aunts had in her house. She was a great woman and seeing the final project brought back some great memories.
Best bottle opener yet like you said wont lose this one, enjoy your corona John .
Great job!
Neat project, well done. Hey, nothing wrong with a brewski while you work. Steve, over at Steve's Small Engine Saloon on YT has one on every episode!!
great job
Awesome thanks
Cheers! You are great!
Damn your videos are so awesome to watch.
Thanks

Another awesome tutorial! Thank you so much!
Are you sure the beer isn't the cause? Lol 🤣🤣 Good can, nice opener. Thanks John 🔨on!!
