It is refreshing to see someone that sees an old truck, and identifies with it. When I was 4 or 5 years old a neighbor farmer opened up his garage door to get something, as he came out he stopped what he was doing and came over to me, knelt down and said to me. I think "NORMAN" likes you ! Look, he is smiling. He walked back to his 48-50 Ford truck and pointed to his eyes, his nose, and he was really smiling. The grille is so striking I grew up having to have one of those Happy trucks. If you go you- tube and look at " 48 Ford amateur build " you can see the little F-1 my family has enjoyed for the past 40 years. I can only hope Jill keeps and enjoys her truck. Paul
What a great story and video! Loved seeing Jill working on the truck with the two of you, and without it being said in the video, I get the impression that she was incredibly appreciative of the help getting it back on the road.
Great story should be more cool stuff like this to see. So glad the chic that owns left it looking original and only kept the maintenance up thanks for sharing watching from Australia.
Thomas Thijs Actually have to wonder where is Dad? If he had been around all this basic maintenance stuff would have already been done. If this lady is a widow, my apologies, but as with 75 percent of current marriages being terminated by the wives...... its her own fault if there is no one around to help her keep this truck running right.
Glad to see Jill learning to do some of her work. This particular episode is heart warming especially to someone like me with a 55 GMC that I work on in a old school way, keeping it close to original or some period correct custom touches.
Jill - great memories in and around your "new" truck. Please consider the addition of seatbelts. It may eliminate a potential, very bad memory. Beautiful family/house/garage/property/truck. Treasure and protect them all! Chuck in Kansas
Terrific video, especially the aerial shots at the end. No seat belts is a bit of a concern. In Australia they are compulsory and have made a huge difference to our road toll.
Been working on getting my grandmother's vintage mustang back on the road after almost a decade. Glad to see I'm not the only one with the uphill project battle!
awesome to see a woman with such passion for her truck. Amazing job on the video having her work on it as well. It's the small details like this that will eventually have women viewed equally.
I got pulled over 3 times in my 1949 F1 for the lights being too dim. When the generator finally went out, I changed it to 12v negative ground and am very happy with it. I saved all the 6v parts and it can still be brought back to the original if anyone ever wants to.
Man. so happy for the girl. and I like the fact that the Haggerty guys keep these cars stock. The moment I see a 350 chevy crate motor and seatbelts in a 40 something car or truck, big turn off. Off I go. Love these episodes
That was thee koolest video ever--n that back drop scenery was terrific/ now getting back to the truck--l couldn't keep it stuck for not too much longer then a year or two--then a mild upgrade --fuel injected air-ride-- interior design but l understand her memories 🤓
Sweet! glad that it'll stay in the family and the kids love it . nothing like a down to earth woman cruising in a classic, now where's the dog? lol! thanks again guys! ▪☆☆☆¤
What a great truck! I'd love to have one! AWESOME JOB GUYS! It's also nice to see a lady who doesn't feel the need to put on makeup in front of a camera! I always thought that there was more beauty in something natural than something fake, that's why I like new front quarter panels and HATE BONDO! LOL
Learned to drive back in 1959 on one just like that one. Same Flathead six, floor box, and even the same color. Must have had some really low rear-end gears as that motor would "scream" on the freeway.
We had a '50 F-1 with the flathead six and three speed on the floor,I have many memories of that old truck, Grandpa bought it new then Dad had it after he wasn't able to drive anymore.
Both the truck and the lady that owns it are MOST impressive! I sincerely hope she never has a full repaint done on it, but a clear coat on top of the original patina might be a good thing. I also hope she NEVER changes the original flat head inline 6 to ANY other engine. Ya just don't see many of those engines nowadays.
I'm surprised these guys don't have the proper tool for taking those brake springs off. I know a pair of vise-grips will work but I've always found it easier and safer with the very reasonably priced brake tool. But to each their own as the saying goes. Love this series almost as much as I do watching Tom the barn find hunter.
Well that clears that up. Thanks. I was kind of puzzled but hey we all forget stuff at times. Thanks for putting this series up. Like I mentioned it is one of my favourites.
Great video guys, really enjoying the series and this episode was the best yet! If you're ever in Cape Town, South Africa let me know.. I have a '72 Ford Ranchero that needs something TLC and could use your help..
Come to New Jersey and help me figure out why my brakes don't work on my 1949 f1... changed to disc front drum rear and everything is new but pedal goes to floor and don't return and one rear wheel locks up.
I have 1962 FORD F100 UNI TRUCK with a 292 3 speed, it drives ok around town, but having trouble getting some speed up. It seems to be holding back on power and chokes out on me, stutters and like I said I can't get enough speed to even drive on the freeway without it stuttering and kind of like holding back on power. But around town I'm OK, it's not out of time, maybe the carburetor? I don't know. But in the meantime, I'm still able to drive around somewhat.
I dig the truck and all the work put into keeping it on the road. I didn't see the owner or her kids wearing seat belts which is asking for trouble. You don't know where that one guy doesn't see you and pulls out, or someone doesn't understand the traffic laws and causes an accident. Don't drive without belts on your kids at least.
Can u please tell her to pot 25 the bottom of that truck my desoto up north in ri has less rust underneath it all the rust is very said to see when there is none on the body
i really like the patina and it seems to be in pretty good shape engine wise... well didn't you guys rebuild a flathead ford engine? you should rebuild her engine awsell 😎
It's a nice change of pace to see a woman work on something. I know a few that can't even open the hoods more less change oil and differentials fluids.
Kirk Johnson ...years ago l found out the hard way...if that engine has been sitting a while use non-detergent motor oil--when changing the oil---or the detergent oil will start to run the throw the engine n clean the parts causing oil n dirt build-up...that will gunk-up the engine(only use detergent oil if the engine is fairly new or rebuilt)
does anyone know if hagerty still does the wrenchman thing.reason being,i need some help getting my '86 chevy sierra back on the road again,no other transportation in our small town. and there are no local mechanics availible in our small town.plus when i do actually find one, they want to charge an outrageous amount afterwards.i can't really afford what they want me to pay.if necessary i can provide the parts to get what ever is needed.
How do you get a car/truck on the show?? I have a 1987 Mustang GT been sitting for 8+ months with a blown crank or piston rods. Don't know for sure becasue I haven't been able to get into it as of yet. Might be a good "project" for the show! :-)
Great video, guys, but I can't believe those jack stands you're using at 2:26. That design is notoriously unreliable and dangerous. I had a pair of those (and they were new) collapse under a '72 Corvette and dump it on the garage floor. If I'd been under the car at that moment, I wouldn't be writing this! You can get a pair of 3-ton jack stands at Harbor Freight for $21.99, or 6-ton stands for $44.99. I've used the 3-ton stands for almost 40 years now, with no problems. It may be the best investment you ever make, unless you never work on anything heavier than the rear of an empty pickup truck. :-)
I totally liked her big smile when the truck fired up.
Would love to see an episode twice as long, with more explanations of what they're doing!

There's something special about old trucks like that.
One of the best episodes yet. Cool old truck, great story. This series is growing on me.
I love this lady, she is awesome
Midwestern girls.
Thomas Thijs she's such a darling!

What a beautiful Truck Jill with history a beautiful gift to pass down. I loved this episode Davin & Matt, pls keep them coming fella's. Pete in AUS
What a beautifully shot episode. I wanted to be there.
Love the "anti" head gash device. LOL Very glad to see Hagarty spreading the love as it were. WE classic car fans need all the support we can get.
Best one yet. Thanks for giving your time and expertise to a worthy project.
The old Henry fit's it's new home well. That was a wise upgrade to a dual circuit master cylinder.

you guys needa bring The Wrenchmen series back !
awesome to see a woman with such passion for her truck. Amazing job on the video having her work on it as well. It's the small details like this that will eventually have women viewed equally.
This is such a fantastic new series, love it. And that truck is just awesome.
Now that cannot get any more American, with an American Girl, how cool.
What a blessing Men, y'all are Golden!!!
Really enjoying this series, and each episode just keeps getting better!

Awesome video ! Really enjoyed it . Great to see folks getting out and helping other folks . Cool truck !

Great series. Would love more technical show-and-tell.
That was thee koolest video ever--n that back drop scenery was terrific/ now getting back to the truck--l couldn't keep it stuck for not too much longer then a year or two--then a mild upgrade --fuel injected air-ride-- interior design but l understand her memories 🤓
Nice video. Keep on truckin' Jill.
Great episode. Even as a Chevy truck fan, I don't mind saying I like that old Ford!
I like the whole episode. If I ever get the chance to restore a vehicle I seem to have become fixated on this same year and model of truck.
Sweet! glad that it'll stay in the family and the kids love it . nothing like a down to earth woman cruising in a classic, now where's the dog? lol! thanks again guys! ▪☆☆☆¤
An excellent episode and a lovely truck and owner - nice work guys!
The sticker in the cab, RatBastards Car Club. Haha

Love the series...love the F1.....Get proper brake spring tools guys. So much easierKeep up the great work

This is the best American f series truck I've seen didn't even know it existed bet there's none in the uk thou 😁
Glad to see you upgraded the master cylinder to a dual circuit one!
I didn't notice that, but that may go a long way toward keeping that truck out of an accident someday.
good job guys. ..............
Cool truck
Sweet truck. Great job.
super cool lady awesome little truck great daily driver
Great video!
Cool flat head 6!
Awesome!
You go girl
I really like this show keep up the good work

Love this video!
I have the same truck. Nice video

Davin forgot it. We had it on day two. I blame Davin.
Well that clears that up. Thanks. I was kind of puzzled but hey we all forget stuff at times. Thanks for putting this series up. Like I mentioned it is one of my favourites.
I really need my head gasket fixed this is a 2000 Dodge Magnum v6
Hey, that's what I would do! :-)
Awesomeness!
Great truck ! I had a right hand drive one (New Zealand) 272transplant $600 virtually gave it away .If only!!!
So Cool
Love the truck PLEASE do not sell it :-)
glenville stanley she would probably sell a kidney before the truck I'm sure.
I have a new favorite show!
Never forget to change the pcv valve in an engine so it never burns way to much gas or oil.
Great lady

There are no seat belts in cars from that era
Classic Ford.
Fix Or Repair Daily...
Really good video guys also I need some help with my 82 Toyota fj40 have some rough idling in the carb and need help with my brakes too.
The last 5hing you need are the bumpers.
Get a battery powered 4" disc grinder, fit a cup type wire brush and you will have stuff cleaned up in a jiffy . :-)
great
Such a neat old truck. But boy that undercarriage is really rusty.
Can u please tell her to pot 25 the bottom of that truck my desoto up north in ri has less rust underneath it all the rust is very said to see when there is none on the body
if youre in east texas i live in tyler my car is a doozy. you wouldnt even have to work on it i just like showing her off.
Hi would that carb be the same as one on a 47 f1
i really like the patina and it seems to be in pretty good shape engine wise... well didn't you guys rebuild a flathead ford engine? you should rebuild her engine awsell 😎

This channel is a find...
also, pumpkins, cottages, and that story? No offense intended but these folks seem like characters straight out of a one of those feel-good movies 😄
sometimes I wish I could go and visit those storybook situations. This world is moving to fast for me.
The 10W / 40 oil they put in it is way too thin for that age engine. Probably should have used 40 weight. I think that's why it sounded so tappety
干得漂亮!
Did you use non-detergent oil in the engine or was detergent ok?

Where can I get one of those Hagerty stickers that say sniff but don't scratch? I saw one on an old car at a car show
Email or message me your contact info and we'll get one off to you. jwarnes@hagerty.com
Hagerty I emailed it all to you
It's In the mail. Have a great week! Enjoy the 3100.

Is it just me, or does Davin look the spit of David Gilmour?
mm i wonder how much it cost to fix this
A little bit too much Pennzoil in here...
Matt Lewis looks like Fat Mike if he never did drugs.
The drone that's being advertised is junk, I know because I bought one!!!!
One day invite take a ride
Nice show. Would love a few more detailed repairs, but it's pretty obviously the guys are do-ers, not talkers.
Great program, perhaps take one task and give a bit more detail. Like bleeding the brakes, passes on the information to the next generation.
Too bad they couldn't yank out the inline engine and drop in a more modern Ford small block and 4 spd auto tranny.
Thought it was a 4 or a v8
I don't need a man! - except to fix my truck...
You never kiss girls of her kind in the States ?
You should try .We do it on a daily basis in France and it's really enjoyable.
