You got a small garage shop like me.. makes me happy to see you making money and having a business out of it
Yea, I'm at 10' x 14' but it's honestly my favorite shop so far. I intend on remodeling it entirely and will track some videos on that process, but I've had bigger and smaller shops, this one is my favorite so far. It has challenges, but thats what makes it enjoyable for me.
I’m the girl with the wood working tools around here. Love making cutting boards. I want to try engraving now.
It's super easy, helps your stuff sell quickly, and is very affordable if you don't get a glowforge or similar laser.
I really enjoyed your video. It's nice to see the Louisiana shape in your video. There's no place like home.
Love louisiana
You, Sir, are Majestic..I swear it's like watching an Eagle do Eagle things. Mind. BLOWN.
😂😂😂
Your genuine and down to earth ..i have a garage full of tools and saws ..i need to get some glue racks and one of these engravers ..thanks for the insight
A domino joiner omfg, I have wanted one so badly, it would change my woodworking, like no other. Fingers crossed. Thanks again I kinda jumped the gun with the last comment, then I heard the ending. Sorry I’m not driving
😂😂😂no worries! Even if you didn't make it in the drawing I'm doing a series on how to go from $20 to $1500 in order to buy the tools you want. It's how I buy all my tools and it works!
This is the first time I've ever seen your video like it a lot can't wait to see more
Thanks! There's a lot of content to check out, putting out a new video every week!
I like these money making ideas, hope you share many more. Thank You from Bob.
I'm planning another one as we speak!
Just so ya know, I’ve probably only commented on about a dozen RUclips videos in the past 3 years, so yeah, I like yours. You keep it real, and informative. Wouldn’t mind more how to, step by step, but I know they take time to make and you got a job to do and a family. So, keep up the good work and nice video editing. (You don’t see me doin it! 😝) Keep em coming, Jordan
Really appreciate the comments and the step by step is next for barn doors. I'm breaking from shop vids for now because I've got a lot of real client projects built up that will be videos. My editing is a slow progression but it's moving forward at least. Thanks again for commenting and following, I truly appreciate it!
Just started messing with laser engraving a few months age. Upgraded to the Xtool d1 pro 20w from the o Ortur lm2
Good luck!
Nice non-coordinated video. Your mind is in the right place for running a business. Keep it up!!
Thanks! Much appreciated!
You’re almost at 2,000 subs! Happy to be a part of your rise to fame and fortune. Or at least fame 😊
At least a rise 😂
Great video! I like the laser option
It's a great asset and option to have!
May have found my spirit wood worker. First video I've seen. Can't wait to see more.
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
@@burnstockwoodworking Honestly could be a brother from another mother. But just about to set up a new woodshop in a new house almost starting from scratch. That laser will hopefully be added when money isn't as tight.
Been woodworking since I was a kid but it was never proper or lucrative. Quit my job to peruse woodworking and that’s what I love. Only have a few tools and already started making cutting boards but this video convinced me to get a laser engraver as soon as possible! Thank you
It pays for itself and it's not a major investment compared to glowforge or other engravers.
Great video. Maybe a followup idea is to talk about where you source materials, how you market your stuff, how people find your work and ask for personalized engravings, etc. I've got tools and an engraver, but I'm lost on the rest, or overwhelmed
Check out my latest video, it answers most of those questions.

Thanks for this! This the first of your videos that I've seen and I just subscribed. Very informative and much appreciated.
Welcome to the channel!
Great video. Going to check out the engraver video now. Keep up the great videos and keepem coming. Thanks!
Thanks, will do!
Gotta say, you're a huge dork and I'm here for it! I'm always looking for new makers to follow and you earned both that and ringing the bell!
🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
Just now ran across you, glad I found you! I'm a newbie woodworker always looking for ideas lol. Thanks for sharing 😁
Welcome to the channel, I hope to help ya on your start. It's a great hobby to learn.
Take some of that profit and buy some glasses that stay put!! 😂 Love the video and channel
Might do that, thanks for commenting it helps the algorithm.
Cant wait to try!!! Thanks
Good luck!
Thanks for keeping it real, and reminding about making the easy!
Thanks for commenting! I appreciate the interaction!
I don't know why you don't have more subscribers. Great stuff and you don't take yourself too seriously. Keep it up.
Thanks! Changing diapers for 13 years keeps ya humble 😂
@@burnstockwoodworking Nothing like getting poop on you and a baby laughing to humble a man's spirit.
Because you don't know if he's on acid or not.
thanks for sharing your secrets and pricing - very helpful to those of us who are new. Sub'd before you talked about the Domino!!
Thanks for the continued support!!
Love the ideas to keep me busy during the weekends!
Thanks, good luck!
These are good ideas and thanks for the information about a cheaper laser to use.
Absolutely, thanks for commenting!
That nativity scene thing is such a good idea. I might make those just with a stencil and paint….
I was able to get a Sculpfun S9 laser engraver for under $300! It works fantastic. Lightburn is $60, very versatile and easy to learn.
Awesome!
Hi from the One Handed Maker Australia.
Loved this video and your workshop.
I have subscribed and will be watching more tomorrow.

Thanks!
Thanks for this video
Very welcome!
"Make a fat stack of cash, Boy!" That comment got me to subscribe...lol
I should probably start scripting or something lol. I have no idea what I'm going to say when I start recording.
Just found and subscribed. All the best
Thanks!
You are too damn funny, and I’m totally taking your idea and running. I sure do need a planer. Anywho, I thank you. 😍
Thanks, good luck!
Great stuff! Love the examples of items. Great personality also. Thanks.
Thanks!
Great video ma dude. Lots of great advice
Thanks, hope it helps!
Good idea bring more of them
Thanks
We recently invested in an Ortur laser master 2 with the up graded laser head for about $500. We decided to buy 1 after having to our source 5 engravings in 2 months. I’m anxious to see how this will increase our sales this holiday season.
One of the most money making tools in my shop, you'll be glad you did it
I really enjoy your quirky and highly entertaining videos. Keep 'em coming!!
Thanks!
Thanks for the info. Would like to hear about other things you did with the laser engravers
Glad ya like it! I have a few videos on the engraver and have a couple more in the lineup so stay tuned!
Great suggestion about the cheaper laser engraver, just subscribed. Looking forward to more videos in this style.
Thanks!
Great video, really nice style of video. Keep'em coming!
Thanks!
What everyone needs....................money!
Yup
Your shop is impressively organized.
Thanks!
First video I've seen of yours and loving the content so far. Keep up the good work and am looking forward to seeing some more of your content.
Awesome, thanks!
Really enjoy your vids mate. Dont think iv much chance of gettin that Jointer over to Australia but im keen to see those barn doors. Good luck with the channel!
Thanks, and you never know!
I like your content man. Thanks for the tutorial..... I've been kinda up in the air about buying a laser engraver. This made my job a little easier
It literally pays for itself. Good luck!
@@burnstockwoodworking cool. Thank you
glad i stumbled upon you. im 58 & just started ww. i'm wishin i woulda took course somewhere in the past but thanks to you and a couple of others (m🍑)maybe I can wing it. keep up the great work and videos, I'll be watching you from up here in West Monroe.
My older and upcoming content may be helpful. I'm thinking about doing some beginner woodworking vids with minimal tools pretty soon. Thanks for the sub and the comment!
New sub here!!! Really enjoyed your video and currently binge watching all your content! Keep it up pal! Really inspirational and enjoyable to watch!!
Thanks, glad you like it!
Hey man quick question, getting ready to pull the trigger on the ortur laser 2 pro. What’s the thickest material I can burn on? I make cutting boards as a side hustle and your videos inspired me to buy a laser engraver. Most of my boards are like 1 to 2 inches thick. Hope you see this soon man ready to buy 1 now!! Thanks partner!
@@joelesko3267 I've burned on 4" thick material, you just gotta be able to set the engraver on top of the piece. I've propped it up on scrap wood before in order to make it work out. I'll do a quick run through video maybe tomorrow and post it.
Hell yeah man that would be awesome! Really looking forward to that review on the ortur as well! Hope you had a great thanksgiving man! And keep up the great hilarious videos! Also I love my burnstock stickers! Looks awesome on my bandsaw pal!! Thanks for the quick response! Makes this whole RUclips thing seem real thanks to you and your awesomeness!

Great ideas thank you.
Thanks for the comment!
Awesome stuff
Thanks!
Good video, keep up the good work
Thanks!
I was going to upgrade my table saw before I bought a laser engraver, but I think you just changed my mind.
The laser engraver is a money maker! You may even be able to buy a higher end table saw than you planned after getting the engraver and raking in mo' money!
Where do you source your wood? I live on the Canadian Boarder in NY.. we are pretty rural and there are not many options so figured I'd ask.. Didn't know if there was a online site to get the different types. I appreciate it.
I have a few local hardwood lumber suppliers in my area. I don't buy at big box stores. There are some online suppliers that ship but I'm not sure who they are.
These are great videos man
Thanks!
Looks like you have 3,000 subs to me!
Yep! The channels been growing very quickly lately!
great video -- what are your sales pathways? website? etsy? craft fairs?
Thanks!!
Thanks! For custom work I've only used FB to set up my business page with staged furniture posts and people just message or call wanting to commission a piece. For craft type items like in the video we'll do a post on our business page as well as FB marketplace. It may not be the best way to do it, but it works for us.

Good stuff.
Man I could really use a domino joiner!
Gonna go binge on your videos for a bit!
:)
It's surprisingly decent content lol
Cool bro

Thanks for the help. Good video.
Glad it helps, more coming soon!
Good stuff
Thanks!
.. you had me at chest hair.
🤣🤣🤣🤣you'd love my older content
Great video! You really need to get your glasses adjusted!
Thanks!
Very welcome!
Could you please post a link for the laser engraver you have?
I've been looking at a GlowForge, but I like the idea of starting small.
Thanks for your time!
Check out my recent video on the Ortur, there's a link in the description on that video.
Great advice. Perhaps with the money you make this season you can buy some glasses that fit better 👌
Might do that, thanks for commenting it helps the algorithm.
What type of wood do you usually
Use for charcuterie boards?
I use whatever hardwoods are available, reasonably priced, and can double up as a cutting board. Currently I'm using sapele and cherry.
New to channel, looks like great content!
Thanks! It's world class lol
New subscriber here. Thanks for the info! Good luck to you on your channel.
Welcome Dee and thanks for the subscribe! I truly appreciate it!
You must be from Louisiana…my fellow Cajun
Hammond, LA!
Dude just found your channel sub done. Read your description your not a moron you have style. Am just starting setting up side hustle doing stuff like boards coaster live edge tables etc any advice. I have thought about an engraver but costs what's stopping me to start with oh that and space to work and still trying set up decent shop. My problem is people don't wanna pay the money here for products. Engraving wise is it worth looking at wood burning engraver?? 🏴👍
If you're talking about a handheld woodburner, for me, I'd pass on that mainly because it requires a person to physically operate it. If it's your only option then no input from me should change that, but I'm working on a video now that may be of better use to you on making extra money using the tools you already have. Hoping to have it out by Wednesday.
@@burnstockwoodworking awesome man really appreciate the info looking forward to the video. I have a decent range of tools the now my problem is limited space am working out garden shed and really at night after kids are asleep but am managing get single slab serving boards out the now as planer is one thing I don't have the now but is next on list to get. I may look at seeing what I can get in budget on the laser engraver. 🏴👍
Hi, what food safe finishes do you use for your boards etc
I actually make my own but walrus oil is my go to if I buy. To make your own order beeswax pellets and mineral oil, combine and melt in a crockpot, the ladle out the liquid into a container to cool.
@@burnstockwoodworking thank you so much for the info, regards..
Ceiling fans don’t make a lot of noise.
My ceiling space in here is too low or too occupied with the air cleaner.
First video I’ve seen of yours….fuckin loved it lol I subscribed and I haven’t built anything yet
Glad you like it
Have you considered rubber bands, barrettes or clippers for your hair?
I typically wear a hat.
great ideas
Thanks!
Great info.
Glad you think so!

Great video! Gonna subscribe! Would like to see a video on you price your items!
That's a great idea, I'll put that in an upcoming vid. Thanks for the comment!
I’ve been kickin around the idea of getting a laser engraver to help with our income, but I’ve been real hesitant, mostly due to the learning curve on the software. How long did it take you to get comfortable with using Light Burn?
Less than an hour. It's very simple. One yt tutorial and you'll be good to go.
How do you use fb to sell? I mean, are you meeting up with all these people? Shipping?
So far it's been meet ups in public. I haven't shipped anything yet. We have a business page on FB that we keep pretty active and around the holiday season we'll start posting these types of projects. People eventually reach out and order 5 to 20 at a time.
Love to see more ideas
Agreed and upcoming! I'm brainstorming what I've done vs what the average woodworker wants to produce. Simple is sometimes better for most people but bigger projects make more money and sometimes take less time.
That $75-$100 for the software (6:07), is that a one-time cost, a monthly subscription fee, or annual subscription fee? Thanks!
It's a one time cost and let's you use it on two or three devices.
@@burnstockwoodworking Awesome. Thanks. Just found your channel and have already saved a few to my Watch Later queue. Keep up the good work!
Which brand of laser engraver do u have ??
Ortur Laser Master 2 Pro
I love all the content creators what to make videos.... I need a where to sell video! I tried some coasters.. not even a bight...
I've thought about that and I'll do a video on what's worked for me. We've built our entire business on FB and word of mouth. Perhaps the next vid will be how to sell and build on FB.
@@burnstockwoodworking that would be awesome.
@@jacobmclin9398 ruclips.net/video/ks9X-B2yxoE/видео.html
On your cutting boards etc what do you cost them with? I am so interested in this… thank you for the information and what you sell these for- if I get into this, I round need yo know that!!
Cost or coat? Is there a typo?
@@burnstockwoodworking I am so sorry! I should have proof read this! What do you coat/seal the cutting boards with if anything at all? The information you share is so good for those of us wanting to do this- what the machine cost- what you sell your items for- how you glue one piece and while it’s drying you’re on to another project…no wasted time!!
@@cindybeck5623 no worries! I make my own cutting board finish, I'll do a video on that later on. Walrus oil is very good, you can find it on Amazon.
@@cindybeck5623 also, if you're going to make cutting boards be mindful of the type of wood you use. No softwoods, no red oak or mahogany. There are various other species that shouldn't be used but you'll be safe to use cherry, hard maple, sapele, and walnut.
Do you sell only off FB or how to you sell?
I'll actually be addressing that in my next video tomorrow, but I've only used FB. I'll talk about how to build a following for your work, set up the page, etc.
Locations you are selling through, please.
We've sold on marketplace for small items or restored furniture but for commissioned pieces it's people seeing our work on FB and communicating through messenger.
You are a total train wreck. I love it though 😆! Thank you for the content, I look forward to more, Sir!
No disagreements on the train wreck lol. My older content is even more off the rails
What platforms do you sell on? That would be helpful to know. That fat stack of cash thing got me to subscribe too!
We only use facebook and word of mouth. I haven't set up an etsy shop and I think my next video will be how to set up your Woodworking business on FB. Our entire business was started and grown on FB organically and we've made an entire extra income in profit since we started in 2020.
@@burnstockwoodworking Thanks for the info. That’s what I’ll do next.
Interesting ideas. Is there an issue with ventilation with that laser engraver?
I use a xtools m1 laser with an add on exhaust fan . works well.
We tend to use it on our back porch, however, I have had it running in my shop before and it will smoke you out. Either open a door or a window if you have it inside and use a fan to suck out the smoke / fumes if possible.
Did you just happen to engrave Louisiana stuff on the coasters or are you from down here? I'm a hobbyist in Shreveport, just curious :)
I'm from down da bayou bah! Hammond / Ponchatoula area, born and mostly raised!
What engraving machine are you using?
Ortur Laser Master Pro 2
what was the name of the engraver?
Ortur laser master pro 2
You could really increase your productivity if you weren’t adjusting your glasses CONSTANTLY! 😅
Yeah, I don't even notice when I do it anymore
Get your optometrist to replace the nose pads with silicon pads, they warm up and stay put, hard plastic just slides, made all the difference for me
Thats all I could focus on after a while was him adjusting glasses haha.
Are yall in Louisiana?
Yep, Hammond/Ponchatoula area
@@burnstockwoodworking Awesome. West Monroe here. Enjoyed the video. Just happen to run across it.
I have a big ass laser cnc (got for dirt cheap and fixed) and a good size cnc router (paid full price for this F'er), yet I build/sell basically nothing. I have an etsy shop and a website, but don't sell much. My main issue with making crap is that I hate the idea of making the same crap that 1000s of other people are making and selling, that and I tend to work a lot of OT at my regular job. Anyway, I'm done with my rant.
I'm right along with you and tend not to make what everyone else is making, however, we needed some extra money last fall (my regular jobs OT has been cut off since COVID started) and these are what brought that in. We don't sell on Etsy though, we made a decent following I FB and only sell through that. Good luck to you!
@@burnstockwoodworking thanks, you too.
You really remind me of myself....except I can't grow the long hair anymore.....
😆 I just cut it off a few weeks ago. I'm going back to the office and one thing I will not do is wear a man bun around my coworkers. Not a hill I'm ready to die on 😂
@@burnstockwoodworking Ha! Well....im here watching your videos because I am starting a woodworking shop. Ive already got a lot of tools from doing handyman stuff for years, and home renovation. Im also experienced in sawyer work. Looking to possibly specialize in offering lumber, and high end furniture. I'll see how it goes first. Might start off doing smalls, then go into bigger low volume items.
@@raycecil4643 I started by building a nice table for myself as my first portfolio project, then one for my friend and it took off from there. High end furniture is the way to go. Higher paying clients are easier to work with. Most of my earlier videos were high end type stuff.
@@burnstockwoodworking Thanks for the advice. So you are heading "back" into the office huh? I guess COVID sent your work home and your employer is requiring everyone to return to office now?
@@raycecil4643 yea but it's more like a one day a week type thing for now, not too bad.
