I make keepsake boxes out of fallen tree limbs. I slice them into boards at the band saw.
Thanks for the shout-out Marcus! Appreciate your work tremendously
What type of laser engraver could you recommend
Thank you Dustin
😆
Thank you for watching, truly appreciated!
😅
Thank you
Wish I had money for an engraver. 🙏🙏.
I’m a wood worker and love it.
Thanks for the tips. Keep making vids
Thank you Dustin Little
I don't have a laser because my neighbor has one. What I want is a small CNC router.
Do a video on laser please
Thank you Dust Little and will follow on a few accounts 😂😂
You remind me of Dr Evil... "a laaaazzzer" great video
Thanks for the ideas! Just before i watched this video, i pulled up a graphic of the nativity to make something with it.
beautiful
Dustin for President!
😆😆😆
4:30 great catch

Thanks! Love some boubonmoth so this is much appreciated!
Thanks for the tips !! I live in south Louisiana and cypress is plentiful, gonna give it a go
Hammond LA here, where you at?
Good ideas! I really like sapele. Time to get to work!
Thanks! I love working with sapele
Dude you're so entertaining. Loved this video
Thanks!
I enjoyed the content . Keep up the good work.
"iT mUsT bE nIcE tO hAvE mOnEy" Now that that's out of the way, great video! I've been too busy with other things to consider a laser, but it seems like it could be a game changer. I'll have to go back and see what you have. Subscribed!
I started with a cheap ortur laser master 2 and recently got an xtool p2. The p2 is definitely not necessary, pretty high, but I do like the xtool much better. They have a few different price points / options, I've got discount codes in the description for multiple setups.
It must be nice to have a laser engraver…. Lol. I think you might need to give one away again this Christmas. 😮
😂😂 I've thought about it. But then I'd have to do ANOTHER laser engraving video and those do terrible for my channel. We'll see
Just recently got a laser engraver and am really looking forward to having fun with it.
Awesome!
Thank you Dustin Little! 😂
😂😂
Love the cutting boards. Can they be seasoned with tung oil?
I want to know more about Delores!
And laser engravers?
You must be a Rockefeller
You always remind me of Roy Underhill from "The Woodwright Shop". Every episode kept my attention because it always seemed like he was about to lose a finger, hand, arm, leg, etc.
There's gonna be bloodshed. But (sigh) there never was.
😂😂😂 this one made me chuckle, thank you!
Thank you for the great video ,great info
Dustin little
Thanks, glad ya like it Mike!
I really want a laser engraver.
It's a great tool to have, especially for a small shop setup.
Is there a video on the butcher block? I like the size you made but always dreamed of making one thoes 2' thick monsters
There isn't but there are plenty of woodworkers who do have vids covering butcher blocks. I may make a video on the build, thanks for the idea
Thank You Dustin 👊🏼
Thanks to you as well! Watching the full video helps this channel more than you know!
I think your an extremely honest person thanks for the advice
Always!
Another great one Marcus. Love Sapele. And love how simple the boards are to make. People should follow your advice for sure.
Thanks Mark, much appreciated!
Such a great video! Love your personality and honesty! Thanks so much for sharing this with us!
Thanks!
Fun tips. Great video
Thanks!
Great video!
Thanks!
Congratulations on the new bench. The LN holdfasts are dead sexy. Worth the price. You gotta be careful now that you’ve had a taste.
😂 that's a great way to describe this LN holdfasts lol. I'm loving it, already put together a list and am trying to get my hands on my kids college funds to buy more 😂
Love the channel and greatly appreciate the info! Also love the humor throughout. Definitely had me laughing several times! Thank you, brother!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Definitely great ideas! And ‘easy’ is great. Thank you
Thanks!
You really make a good case for a laser engraver and that nativity is such a winner! Unfortunately, I don't have the space or money right now, but hopefully one day with some saving and re-organizing.
Took me time to save for my first one as well. Thanks for commenting and good luck!
Awesome video!😎
Thanks!
you Crack me up man, definitely subn 😂😂
Welcome aboard!
Thanks for sharing
Glad ya like it, thanks for watching!
Thank you Dustin Little!
Where did you get your laser engraver?
You gained another sub. Bro your a trip! 😂 I loved watching you. I learned some lessons! Good job!
Awesome! Welcome to the channel!
Thanks a bunch for all the tips, dude! 😃
Yeah, a laser machine is definitely on my list! I hope I can get one next year!
Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
I'm waiting for next time - when you pre-cut the board with the miter saw, then pretend to hand saw through it and add saw noises in post....
😂😂😂
Thanks
Glad ya like it!
Aside from money, what if space is more of a problem? I run my woodworking business out of my one bedroom apartment, so space is actually more the reason, but yes money is a deciding factor.
Check out my first few videos. I built a ton of commissions outside because I had very limited space. Not quite one bedroom apt small but there are workarounds in most cases. Good luck!
I had an X-Carve $1500 CNC machine. Lots of fun but it is SOOOO EASY to ruin an expensive piece of hardwood that you already spent time on. The least little mistake, glitch or even a power outage or tripped breaker will kill a job. Anyway, I am not thinking of getting a laser and hoping they don't have the same issues.
Got a couple questions if you’ll answer them. I mainly want to know where do you do a lot of your listings at? Etsy? Facebook? I’m not a huge fan of Etsy, but I don’t think Facebook reaches far enough unless I ship. Last question is what type of wood was that board at the beginning? I thought you said it but I can’t find it now.
hey Buddy! Very nice, specific and clean video with these information. Well done. Will try Cutting boards some time...when i am done with setting up my workshop in the new house...and made a gardenkitchen for my daughters. :D
Best regards man
Thanks! Good luck with your projects!
Thank u Dustin. Nice video dude few nice projects there. Must say the basics cutting board isn't something would work for me tried it people would rather buy sommit like that at supermarket were a am few options there Al be giving shot though! Hope your good 👍🏴
Thanks! Yea, depends on area for sure
@@burnstockwoodworking most definitely. Hope your doing well everythings going ok. Catch up soon. 📨👍🏴
Which Laser did you purchase again, looking at buying one next year.
The first was an ortur, now I'm using xtool
@burnstockwoodworking that is what I was leaning towards, a 20w with the rotary attachment should be sufficient for my needs.
Cool stuff. “Must be nice to be rich” people, laser engravers are as little as $299 for a sculpfun s30. It’ll do everything he has here east. Not fast, but it will do it. Or go all out and get a Roly lasermatic10 like I did and pay for it in 6 months of sales.
😂 I don't get people sometimes. How do you like the lasermatic 10?
Are you GETTING this camera guy?? Because I can’t do this ALL DAY! #shamwow 😂
😂😂😂😆
Thank you for the videos!
So I don't have a Lazer engraver, do you have some that you would suggest?
Yep. I have discount links to xtools in the description, they have multiple price points for most budgets. If you're going super budget friendly ortur laser master is a good option.
Nice
Noice
The box stores have gotten ridiculous with their prices. Prime lumber now is worse than #2 used to be.
Love your videos sir. I would love to see your take on building a log cabin birdhouse out of square stock. I don't see many ideas out there and have been wanting to build one.
Thanks!
A couple questions for you, if you don't mind.
1. Best place to list items for sale? Etsy, Marketplace? Is it product or product size dependent? I would imagine smaller items, like cutting boards, would sell easier on something like Etsy, and larger items, like benches, chairs, etc., would sell easier on Marketplace. Have you found this to be the case?
2. Is it better to keep product in-stock, or make it as it's ordered? I would expect it might be easier to keep a small stock of smaller, easier to make items ready to be engraved and shipped, and larger or more complex items would be made-to-order. However, I could just as easily justify the opposite. It might be easier to make small items, like cutting boards, as needed, since they require relatively little effort, and larger or more complex items, like chairs, etc., in batches, since they might require more of an assembly line approach or, at least, more time/effort to produce them on a made-to-order basis.
3. Somewhat related back to question 1., starting out, should I offer shipping, to reach a broader customer base, or try to sell local first, to not have to deal with the hassle of shipping? Which is best to get my feet under me?
4. As someone starting out, perhaps wanting to turn their woodworking into a business, maybe more oriented towards larger furniture or cabinet making, would starting with something like this, selling smaller craft-type pieces, be well beneficial, or should I focus more on what I hope my business will evolve into from the get-go?
I could think of a dozen reasons to pick either side on each question, so I'm having a terrible time deciding where to start. What's your experience with these subjects? Any advice or opinions?
Thank you, kindly.
I've only ever sold locally. Etsy is swamped with cutting boards and the like, people prefer to buy locally if possible. I prefer to list in local group chats over marketplace, people on marketplace tend to be looking for a deal or discount. I also post everything I make on my business FB page. Check out my earlier vids for custom work, you can definitely do custom furniture only especially if it's a side hustle, and make really good money. This is just filler for holiday seasons. Be careful with how much you post smalls like this over custom work as people will start to think you only offer cutting boards and the like rather than furniture.
@@burnstockwoodworking Awesome, thanks for the help!!
Do you use a 10w or 20w laser cutter
Question where do you sale your stuff? . I sale all my stuff locally but would like to reach a broader community.
Facebook community groups work great for me
What laser engraved are you recommending. I saw that you changed companies. Also if you could tell me what part number to order. There are 50 different options.
Thank you
Yea, depends on budget honestly. The xtool brand is awesome and, if I had the budget, I would've started with an xtool. The d1 is great, the xtool p2 is a monster, I love it.
What is water popping it?
Waterproofing is sanding. Then wiping on water. Let it dry. Then sand again. If you don't do this the finished product wood grain will get raised and be rough. Try it.
Where are you selling them and how are you marketing them?
When I sold em I listed them on my Facebook business page and shared to local group chats consistently.
Do you break the edges on those board, or just drill a hole and ship them off? Either way, that's really cool.
Definitely do a round over and sand, I mentioned it a few times in the vid, just didn't have the time to do it on camera. Thanks!
It must be nice having money, it must be nice having a wife that buys you everything, it must be nice being rich, must be nice to have fancy tools, must be nice having an industrial grade thingy, and i bet you even have a damn dog!
😆😆😆 actually no dog lol. We do have 11 chickens though
Charcuterie boards are going out of style now. Trays are in though.
What laser engraver did you save for?
The first one I bought was an ortur laser master 2 and it was around 500
Cool that's been about where I am
I'm a pastor as well keep going praying for you ministry and your channel
1:03 I know you're talking to and about your camera, but I want to capture the audio of that and the sigh at the end and figure out a way of tracking when I'm not focusing and have that clip of audio play😂
😆
Ok. Any recommendations for a good laser engraver for us poor folks.
Absolutely, I started out with an ortur laser master 2 pro as my first. There's plenty of budget friendly options out there.
What engraver do you have?
I started with an ortur laser master 2 a couple years ago, now we have an xtool p2. There's some discount links in the description for ya.
Hello Dolores! Welcome
(Also, with 1:18 does your wige know about and approve of her? 😅)
She is actually impressed by her lol
@@burnstockwoodworkingshe is definitely a keeper! 😊
I absolutely love all your content. Great ideas and great sense of humor.
Thanks!

Pretty sure it was legal. 😄
😆😆
Must be nice to have money lol
😂😂😂
Hand tool... You use your hand when using a miter saw... Which is a tool. So its a hand tool 😂.
Sound logic 😂
This has extra humor for me. Just had to explain the difference to my wife the other day; hand tool, power tool, and pneumatic 😆
🎉... Sorry got nothin catchy today 😅
😂
I have always enjoyed your videos but a little too much silliness while cutting ur first cutting board. I am still a fan.
Thanks!
"A generic obnoxious comment to help promote the channel" 🙂
😆😆😆
"pretty sure it was legal"
it's only illegal if you get caught
😆😆 my thoughts exactly 😂
for eastern european market laser business is a fail...
Wasn't aware of that. Why do you think that is? Marketing for exposure or oversaturation?
@@burnstockwoodworking low income, i think
Need more Hollywood crap
Glad you decided to pick the scab that is the whiney bunch of turds who cry "But not everyone can afford nice tools". FFS This is a hobby for the most part. If you want to do woodworking, then tools are expensive. If you want cheap, go find some cross stich or basket weaving kits. Color-by-number can be fun, too.
/rant
I definitely went into a rant 😆
What the Fuck?
Sorry, I had to stop watching at 1:29. You're not a good comedian.
Thank you Dustin Little
Thanks Dustin
