Thanks Lauren! I’m a 65 year old woman who is retiring in March and chose the guitar to learn as entertainment. You definitely have the heart of a teacher! You’re gifted!! Today’s lesson is fun and I feel like I’m actually starting to play music!!
Having tried several times to get the Rhythm To Wild Thing Down, I just sat in my “Beatles/60’s” room and followed your playing...!!!! I now have this song on track...!!!! Quite FabTasTic...!!!!
Been trying to master guitar for 4 years....and thats me finally put a song together!! Thanks so much Lauren, wish i was good a pupil as you are a teacher!
A friend told me that to play the coolest interlude in rock and roll, just play the same three strings used for an A Chord. First play the strings stings open, then play the A chord, repeat one time. I learned from watching one of your videos that those three open strings, D, G, B are the notes for a G chord. Technically not a G because the lowest note is D not the G, but very easy confidence builder. You connected those dots for me in a different video.
This is a fun one. I add some muted strumming, broke a pick trying to learn it just now. It just feels right and sounds best, to me, to use barre chords. This is one I recall from being a very young child. It was already around for 20 years, but was and is still good.
Lauren, you go from D to E in a blink of an eye. Wish I could go that fast but the D chord has always been difficult for me and I'm driving myself nuts trying to keep up. Anyway, love your method of teaching and will soldier on no matter what. I rarely give up.
I really enjoy your lessons..with singing..that is the hard part playing/counting strums and trying to sing....ha ha like learning to walk and talk....thanks again...I look forward to putting it all together as I practice
The song was actually written by Chip Taylor (I think he's Jon Voight's brother). I'm sure Chip Taylor does very well from the song royalties despite being nowhere near as famous as some of the artists who covered this song. Have you any plans to do a lesson on Rumble, by Link Wray? It was banned when it was originally released; how an instrumental could corrupt America's youth is anybody's guess. Have you heard the "Troggs Tapes"? It's something of a precursor to Spinal Tap.
Hello Lauren, well today I managed to play the song: Wild thing with you at 0.75 speed. Now I still have to play the standard, which I will tackle in the next few days. You show it very well !!! I wish you a nice weekend :)
Fun way to start 2022 - big thx - still need to practice and learn lots before doing this song but it will happen this year - Happy New Year everyone!!!
yay !!!! thank you so much Lauren ! this is so much fun to play ! i am also going to learn how to play the Ocarina solo on my electric Midi piano keyboard too in the middle of the song ! lol. when they hang on that E major chord in the middle that gives me a chance for me to put some different variation in to my strumming patterns too for the electric guitar ! lol :) i prefer to play it on my electric guitar with lots of distortion and overdrive ! that way i can sound like the troggs and rock out on this song ! lol :)
Lauren I love watching your videos,I have private lessons but I got so confused by him trying to teach me circle of fifths and minor and major pentatonic scales,he was an excellent guitar player but as a beginner I never got past learning open chords with him..I’m seriously thinking of your course…I’m trying your horse with no name lesson for now…thanks for your easy chord version Frank aka ziggurat.👍
Frank, I'm sorry to hear that. Yes some teachers start off with theory which can be a bit overwhelming for beginner. Why I chose fun over theory. We can learn theory as we go, when we need. I want you to have fun first. Definitely check out the course and good luck with Horse with No Name. Good one.😎
I like it Lauren and love the lick part, I play it usually G C D, but love your videos as you open my eyes to different voicing so once again thank you, Happy New Year, a loyal follower
No ...Got to admit ,I never knew about the distortion ! :) I tried to play this song a long time ago , I'm definitely going to give it another go. Really well put together lesson Lauren, fun to watch! Thank you .
Hey Lauren no one ever mentioned the speed adjustment before, wow very nice. I always liked this song. I'm not too bad a 3 little birds now trying to master this. Very nice help..thanks!
Hi Lauren I am really enjoying you playing and understanding your method in teaching us all these songs with 2 note chords and 3 note chords it is very helpful understanding much easier. Saw you playing on a Jet Plane Horse with no name and Wild thing love how you place the chord chart on the right hand corner of the screen. May I pls have your print out of the whole song on each. Is there a way of getting them how you played and explained them. I would love to be able to play them for people. Thankyou.❤❤❤
Finally got this down to where I can stay in time with the play along.....Good Stuff, Thanks Lauren. My 64 year old fingers are getting tougher & more limber by the day. A little something for the tip jar......Any recommendations on the next one to tackle as a beginner? I'm thinking Horse With No Name, seems doable. My preference is Gospel for beginners.
@@LaurenBateman yes I've been trying to practice for hours on end, actually I go about 20 minutes rest my hand for 5 then go 20 more,I do that for about 3 to 4 hrs.
Nice. Would love to see a video of this quality with the tap on the bass notes of the D before playing the D. Think: dim dim, d dim dim, dim dim, d dim dim... etc Is the power chords the only way to do this, or can you do it with the regular chords as well?
Sorry wasn't sure where requests go! Love your videos, so helpful and love your vibe! Any chance you could break down Cheryl Crow's version of Redemption Day?
