I just wanted to thank you, as many others have, for saving me a lot of money. My passenger side window hasn't been able to go up, without help, since we bought the car in 2006. I brought it to a garage last year and they told me I needed a new regulator. After watching your video, I dared to remove the door panel and take a look for myself. To my surprise, 2 of the bolts holding the regulator in place were off and 3 were loose. The window now works perfectly!! Thanks again!
The drivers window for my Corolla got stuck in the down position. I just got off the phone with Toyota the window regulator and motor cost $540 and they are charging $130 for labor. So that comes up to about $725 including taxes. Thankfully I watched this video!!! I'm was grateful for the video because it was helpful with disassembly so I ordered the regulator and motor in one assembly from you. Now my window works just like it did before and it only cost me $58 bucks!
I just want to thank you so much. I was able to repair my wife's door window, and never would have pulled it off without your video. I will buy all my parts from you now, and I need some. I need a drivers side door latch and I need the rubber seal that the window seals into. I ordered one some time ago and didn't check it and they sent us the wrong one. Thanks again A1!! It is very much appreciated not just by me, but my wife too...
I took the plunge and dove in on this project and was surprised how smooth it went. I would not have done it without your video. The regulator and motor part I received was slightly different than the one I replaced. Instead of a set bolt in the regulator frame there was need for another 10mm screw. Luckily I had one in my shop! This is the 2nd project you have helped me on. The first was replacing the driver side interior door latch. You have me as a follower for my next projects!! Thanks.
This video nailed the entire process. Thank you so much! The only thing I would say is that around the 6:50 mark you mention the stud in the regulator frame. Be careful to remove only the nut on the stud and not the stud itself. The stud will help you remember how to orient the regulator when you put it back in the door. I removed the stud and it took me a couple of minutes to figure out how it went back in.
+Sean Sparkman Thanks for watching. If any of our viewers needs to make this repair, we carry the auto repair part shown in this video on our website. Here is a link to them: www.1aauto.com/1A/WindowRegulators/Toyota/Corolla/1AWRK00510?RUclips&CTA+Comment&HlRY3Wdo9bo
I picked up a regulator for my Corolla from 1A Auto. It wasn't the same year as listed in this video, but the video still helped. I saved about $200 doing it myself and it was pretty painless. This coming from a guy who does not like to work on cars.
Thank you for the video. It worked like a charm. I had an estimate from a mechanic for $250. Ordered the part online for $32 and did it myself. One point, not all of the three bolts on the left side are used. Two of them connect to the regulator and one of the is just there for no apparent reason (Corolla 2002). Thanks again!!
Thank you sooooo much. Your video is so easy to follow. As a girl who really doesn't know much about cars- you have helped me SO much. thank you, thank you, thank you!
Extremely helpful. Thank you. FYI, it makes it a lot easier to reinstall the regulator if the window motor is about half way through the gears. Took me a while to figure that out.
Thanks for this video. Helped me remove/swap out the motor on my 1999 Corolla. The motor in the back seat is the same as the front, so I was able to figure my way through swapping them out. The mechanism that raises the actual motor is different so it took a while to get them back into position. Also, a note to newbies: The black adhesive that holds the water shield will get everywhere, so be sure to wear gloves.
You could try to grease the track on the window regulator with some white lithium grease and you could also try to spray the weatherstrip around the window with some silicone spray. Hope this helps you out.
Check the window switch to see if it's causing this issue, also check the wire harness between the door and body of the car to see if there's a broken or frayed wire that may be causing this issue.
Thanks for the video! You forgot to clear the lock rod through the plastic moisture shield before you put the door panel back on! Also it is a good idea to lubricate the window channel with a silicone base grease to avoid the problem in the first place!
FIrst, thanks for this great video. Very clear how to get this project done. I have a couple of questions: 1. Is it best to have the window all the way up when starting? 2. When you took that last bolt out, what kept the window from just dropping down? It looked like you jiggled that assembly a little to get the window to drop.
It may help to have the window in the up position. If you keep one hand under the regulator it will help to keep it from coming down. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com 866-403-3393
Well, it turns out if wasn't the motor in my case. I had posted to Toyota Nation and someone suggested spraying the rubber guides with silicone. Once I did that, the window went up and down MUCH easier. But thanks for that video. That is great info!

Nicely done! My window doesn't work. I replaced the switch at the door and that didn't help. Is there any reason to think it is not the motor that is causing the problem?

Many thanks for the video. I hope you are still around. Is there any difference with the right front passenger window? Should be easier? Anyone has repaired the right one in a Toyota Corolla 1998? many thanks in advance. 062019
If the motor is dead, and the window is stuck down, how can I free up the regulator to get at the bolts holding the window? Thanks: great videos, very informative and to the point
Once you pull the cotter pin out there should be a star shaped cover that goes over the actual nut. The nut behind the cover should be 30MM from what I've researched. Hope this helps you out. 1aauto.com
+Mike Bourget Thanks for watching. We're glad you liked it. For anyone else needing to do this job, we offer the regulator at the following link: www.1aauto.com/1A/WindowRegulators/Toyota/Corolla/1AWRK00510?RUclips&CTA%20Comment&ATony
On another problem: Do you have a video that shows how to replace the door latch on a 2000 Toyota Corolla? I call the "latch" the part that is inside the door, at the end of the door that grabs the stationary part that holds the door closed.
Do I need to replace this part, or some other part, if my window SOMETIMES won't go up. It usually works fine, but sometimes it will go up part way and stop. After waiting different amounts of time, it will sometimes go up the rest of the way, or only a little bit more. It eventually will go up all the way.
I have a window that is stuck all the way down, and I was told it was due to a switch short that caused the motor to burn out. Am I going to be able to do all of this work (to replace motor and switch, but not regulator) in the video even if my window is stuck in the down position? Thanks.
The part you are installing has two rails which are approximately the same length and a stud used for the first step in installation. I ordered the part that is linked to the video. The part that I received has one short rail and no stud. I had to return that part. What part number should I order to get one that is identical to this video?

a socket can be magnetized with a strong ceramic guitar magnet (they are cheap to buy and stay magnetized). That keeps a bolt loosened in the socket and you pull it out and then remove the bolt by hand for storage until needed again.
Can u do one for the rear passenger side? I dont know if regulator or motor. It goes down but goes up 2-3 inch and stop. Few mins later it can go up another 2-3 inch then stop. Sound like the motor is weak?

Hi, My window works but often it will slow down and stop and then take a few minutes of driving to move back up in increments. Do I need to replace the motor or the regular?

I don't see any problems with the wires or switch. Is there any type of diode in this circuit that may need to be replaced? I've taken the plastic water guard sheet on and off so many times (plus it is 12 years old) so the black adhesive that holds it to the inside of the door isn't holding it in place. Do you sell the adhesive?
