As a lover of 3 o'clock date windows, that one's a beauty. Framing, placement. It's baffling how many brands screw it up. The linen dial is pretty and classy. The Jack Mason star could perhaps have been a little bigger, but that's just me.
I absolutely agree with Peter. My golden 60s Omega Seamaster DeVille is probably my favorite watch. Classic elegance.

I would love to see a resurgence of gold dress watches for daily use. There is a warmth to gold that seems to be missing with stainless steel.

Personally I prefer an automatic, but that caramel dial gold pvd version really leaves a very nice impression. The (introductory) price is up there somewhat, perhaps mainly due to that top grade movement. I'd be happier with an SW300 and a thin closed caseback, and e.g. Billic has shown this can be offered at really competitive prices, too.

I'm always glad to see a Sellita in a watch, and I do particularly like the SW210-1 & SW215-1 in dress watches. You can also build a 9mm thick watch around the SW300-1 (despite the fact it's an automatic), but I like the choice of a top grade manual wind movement & exhibition case back enabling you to enjoy that extra finishing you paid for. About the size: I usually wear 40mm+ but I believe the thin bezel would make the Ellum work on my ~19cm wrist. I'm not sure about the price, but these do look nice IMO.

What about the tricolor on the second hand?
Not sure this is going to work as well for women though. It's a manual wind watch and many women just want a grab and go watch that they don't have to interact with too often. An automatic and, dare I say it, a quartz movement suits many women because of their always ready nature.

Why make that assumption? I for one love a manual winding watch. In fact I own a beautiful vintage Omega seamaster, a citizen and have really enjoyed trying out the Jack Mason Ellum too. There are plenty of women watch enthusiasts out there.

@@Sophies-watch-world The number of female watch enthusiasts is indeed increasing and that's a good thing. If Jack Mason are only targeting the enthusiast market then this approach may well work for them. When I ask non-enthusiast women who wear watches then I find that the quartz approach is preferred. Watch enthusiasts don't represent watch "normies" very well. That's why we're enthusiasts.

@@markwheeler4417 yes but I’m sure that’s the same for men normies too. Let’s face it the majority of people either don’t wear a watch or wear a smart watch. Nothing wrong with a good quartz. But if microbrands and watch brands don’t make watches with manual winding movements for women too, how do you suppose women will wear them. It has to start somewhere. Same goes for bringing more women into the hobby. Watches are incredible after all. ❤️
