I have the 1.6 litre diesel longitude and it’s is absolutely amazing, it’s really comfy to do long distance and drives brilliantly I really want to get a new car as I’ve had mine for nearly 5 years but really worried that any car I get won’t be as good as the renegade, it has to be one of the best cars I’ve driven.
Why so much hate for this vehicle, I love my Renegade. it’s a great affordable jeep, I know it’s not a wrangler, but it definitely stands out from all the other compact crossover suvs with being the most off road capable.
I have had a Jeep Renegade since sept 26, 2015. it's jeep yellow and a trailhawk loaded. (No removeable roof) didn't want one. Never owned a Jeep (my son has a 2000 wrangler I drove for about 5 years) love the Jeep concept. This one is now 27 months old and has 23K on the odo, I have nothing bad to say about this small SUV other then it has had the normal things that you get with a new model, recalls and adjustments that were needed and small little repairs they made but other than that it runs well and is a very well thought out SUV. My wife & I love the car and will get a 2018 as long as they still come in Yellow! I had read that the car was slow and underperforms on the expressway. This is HOGWASH! It has 180 HP and runs like my 99 corvette did. I fly with this SUV on acceleration passing everything from a light or passing on the HWY. Maybe mine is a freak but that 9 speed Trans really performs better than expected. Here we are 2&1/2 years later and we are still in love with this car. I hope this review helps with making a decision on whether to buy one or not. I say go for it! I also own a Chevy Silverado & an Avalanche that we keep parked until we need a truck, they are 4 wheel drive also but the jeep renegade works well for us around town and on the highway.
To me it looks just right, designed in US (love american design) and built in Italy (surely better than built in USA and with much newer engines than the one used on that side of the pond), perfect match! And remember that this car is shorter than a Seat Leon, so the boot size is correct. Well done Fca.
So should I believe the Telegraph's review, or should I listen to Car Magazine's RUclips review where they say that the Renegade is "a pleasant little car to drive". "It has a willing little 1.4L turbo petrol engine, nice subtle suspension. The steering is light and responsive." It's strange that two review of the same car can be so different. I guess it only shows that a car review is plagued by biased attitudes and non-scientific assessments.
+Arild Langseth The question is: Is Car Magazine's review truly independent or were they getting an all expenses paid press release? If they diss the car they won't be invited back for more press releases will they? I don't know I'm just saying.
I have a 2018 Jeep Renegade latitude with the 2.4 liter multiair engine 180 horsepower much much better than the turbo 1.4 this engine gets up and goes when you hit it and I have no issues with the car handling well
Full of inaccuracies. The point is this car is better off-road than any of the other cars he's mentioned. He only reviewed the 2WD which has basically zero off-road capabilities. He also said only the Trailhawk provides "full blown" 4x4, which is misleading. The 2.0l diesel 4x4 version is available in lower trim levels and only lacks "Rock Mode" which to be frank is just bananas for this type of car - mud, snow & gravel is all you're ever likely to need.
TOP TEN I have a 2018 Renegade and, I love it because it’s the best car SUV I’ve ever owned! I did love my Wrangler but, it was really bad on gas and, it was so uncomfortable 😣 My new Renegade gets great gas mileage and I usually drive 5-7 hours a day it’s the most comfortable car I’ve ever driven 😍
I test drove one today with the intention to buy it...love the way it looks but it does not drive well at all! Steering feel/weighting is terrible, turbo lag is poor and the ride is unexplainably harsh given the handling short comings and lack of body control.. Really wanted to like this car, but I didn't :( Back to the drawing board for a new car.....
Telegraph Cars, you should state what the actual mpg (even if it's the trip computer mpg) achieved on the test is like Carbuyer do as it's more meaningful than quoting manufacturer's figures. Not that they ever lie of course...
Grumpy Englisch! Always negativ if it aint an Englisch brand! I did drove this car and is perfect to set up a driving postion. Seats are perfect together with the adjustable steering.
Had the 1.0 turbo as a hire vehicle and I personally thought it was a good car not under power at all, and I'm use to a Focus RS, disagree with this review
Love the looks of this jeep renegade, I'm trading my car in for one on sun September 10th, getting a black jeep renegade limited 2018 plate 1.6 diesel multijet 6 speed manual, this guy's review certainly won't put me off lol, the looks an diesel engine economy do it for me, can't wait get it next weekend 👌👍🏴
Hmmm Jeep not renowned for quality and reliability/Fiat not renowned for quality and reliability. I would go for the Tivoli and buy a lovely bike for the weekends with the spare cash. :-)
No LED headlights on such a new and expensive car? A manual in such a big car? A design that looks like shit and the boot space being that small in such a big car? Absolutely stupid car tbh. It looks dated already and is just rediculous.
+Billy Johnson it ain't no truck but it's definitely not small either. Also I think a manual looks odd in an SUV. It just doesn't seem right in my eyes. Also this gearstick looks stupid, that might help with the odd look. I personally drive a manual audi a4 and drove a manual peugeot 307 cc. My dad drives a vw touareg with an automatic and that just seems right. With a manual it would totally seem out of place in my eyes but what I wanted to tell you with that is that I know how to use a manual and it just doesn't suit a vehicle like that.
+rtownz251251 I think it does, I fully understand an auto in a Touareg, range rover or something. This car just doesn't seem big enough to me for an auto really... I drive a Focus CC3 and a Mondeo, both manual. The Mondeo is 16ft long but I would never say it's too big to be a manual
+rtownz251251 This car is actually small. The length is smaller than some hatchbacks. For me I would love an SUV in manual, so few of them come in manual's these days. A VW touareg is a luxury SUV so of course it has an auto trans.
Such an inaccurate review. I've had mine over a year and steering is nice and tight...clutch has a defined biting point...turbo is great...tiny lag but i have found this on most turbos. Gearbox nice and smooth. This guy has no idea what he's on about.
Rinegato doesn't exist in Italian language, unless you put a double N on it (Rinnegato). Oh and by the way, Maded is also incorrect: "made" is the correct past tense for "make" :-)

22,000 USD for me. Latitude with 2.4 and 4×4 sold me on it. Drives fine. No complaints.

This applies for telegraph as well. I review must be impartial. This guys obsiously isn't.

I love the look of the thing....
I want this as my first car

The legroom is good as well?Apparntly it's much smaller than the Skoda Yeti!
The indicators aren't that difficult to figure out... A quick press and release will give you 5 flashes, but press and hold for just 1 flash.

Hans B, And it is well known that British car companies have put out one failure after another...
Are you going to review the new Mercedes GLC?
"the steering is slow to respond"!!?? huh....so you turn the steering wheel and the front wheels dont turn instantly?
Nakadu, No, he means it under steers...
I doubt cheaper alternatives are as good as Jeep off road.
This car would still be bad off road
+Russell It is not Rubicon or Defender, but better off road than Juke, Tiguan, Tivoli...
g00dfeeling maybe but it looks quite low
Hahaha I didn't see the leg room at the back? His knees were touching the seats infront
Misleading review , it’s a good solid easy to drive, plenty of room, I’ve the latitude 4x4 , great off roader, great spec
I think if jeep makes 3 doors option will be cooool
bad car but good review... nice job Chris!
At least this one isn't a diesel but this obsession with awful SUVs is ridiculous.
Wow, the "leather" looks like it's straight from the 80s!
Had the 1.0 turbo as a hire vehicle and I personally thought it was a good car not under power at all, and I'm use to a Focus RS, disagree with this review

i am chinese ,china will be listed 2016!i want buy 。。。why you say this car is shit ,give me some suggestions~
I have owned this car for six months and I can tell you that almost everything he said is nonsense.
only jeep and suzuki make good off road suv
The 1.6 is not a turbo...
Hmmm Jeep not renowned for quality and reliability/Fiat not renowned for quality and reliability. I would go for the Tivoli and buy a lovely bike for the weekends with the spare cash. :-)
Don't you mean fiat 500 X, smh
WRONG! It's based on fiat 500 X not L
its based on 500X not L
A jeep with the quality problems they have had the question in why??
toyota landcruiser v8 any day over this...
+z00h How is that even a fair comparison?
+z00h Not in the same class by far
All car makers share platforms lol nothing new m8
it's so sad. You call this fiat-based ugliness a ....Renegade !
Remember how they used to look in 1982 ? Probably for customers that never saw one !
Plz, try harder to make a silly review.
AMERICA
skoda yeti any day over this...
+stanaustin77 yeah right
Hahaha here we laugh
Shame Jeep went for the wacky cartoon looks...a mid life facelift would work wonders. Capable machine spoilt by the final design.
Jeep is going backwards with styling again...
Car for hairdressers ? Personally I don’t like SUVs full stop. Rather have a sporty car I can enjoy driving.
Shit !!
What a stupid review. He tried a lot. What cars are better to drive? The seats are very comfy in this Jeep.
Since 1941. Not cool for an Italian car.
No LED headlights on such a new and expensive car? A manual in such a big car? A design that looks like shit and the boot space being that small in such a big car? Absolutely stupid car tbh. It looks dated already and is just rediculous.
+rtownz251251 There's nothing wrong with having a manual in an SUV. This isn't even a large car anyway!
+rtownz251251 it is american what do you expect? a rival for Germany? ha.
+Billy Johnson it ain't no truck but it's definitely not small either. Also I think a manual looks odd in an SUV. It just doesn't seem right in my eyes. A
A car for those who have given up the will to live
+David Kennedy Really? I would have said that about every single one of its rivals but not this car itself.
You must have one foot in the grave then buddy lol
David Kennedy Gave up in my twenties? I don't believe it!
That is one ugly ass car
I am not sure it works when a gay man does a car review.
You sound intelligent.
I don't like the looks that of Jeep. It's not for me!!!
Another badge engineering disaster.
Such an inaccurate review. I've had mine over a year and steering is nice and tight...clutch has a defined biting point...turbo is great...tiny lag but i have found this on most turbos. Gearbox nice and smooth. This guy has no idea what he's on about.
Better name will be Fiat Rinegato(Renegade on Italian)!! this car is cheap maded with relative big price
Rinegato doesn't exist in Italian language, unless you put a double N on it (Rinnegato). Oh and by the way, Maded is also incorrect: "made" is the correct past tense for "make" :-)
fabian78 it exist in Google translator and sounds italian soo..
+Mr11ESSE111 well, I'm Italian and I think I know my language much better than a stupid google translator
fabian78 okey, but who cars if they realy named this car Rinegato
Mr11ESSE111, "on" Italian? cheap "maded"?
I want this as my first car
