Bigger van with no pop top. Janine loved it, you could just see it in her face. Cooking with a view. All safe and secure for sleeping. Pop tops good for warmer nights but when the wind is howling and the rain is pouring........not so sure. Lots to consider for sure 😊xx
I agree one more thing you should not be giving so much weight age to your US trip as this Van is for keeps and years to come. So more weight age should go to spare parts maintainence and reviews. US trip is just one time max 8 months think after that what is good for you for the next 5 years.
I agree with all of the above. I have a SWB VW T5… I love it but when the winds are howling and it’s cold out there, I feel it’s better to sleep downstairs in the van. Also, those bears are pretty tall… I would be scared they’d rip open the pop top material! Definitely the Man Sven for me… ok the others would be easier to park but the space and the facilities gives the Man Sven the edge for touring USA and living in afterwards. Definitely more of a keeper IMHO! I’m excited to see what you choose! 😃👍. xx🙏🏻
Big mistake to go the pop top route for America you will probably need a small ac unit fitted to the roof to combat the extreme temperatures. And for security reason the pop top is useless for a bear attack wild camping. Please choose the last one in your video and stay safe.😊
Exactly - security and weather conditions and events - especially based on what US has experienced in the last 2/3 years. The extreme weather events all over US must be taken into consideration when purchasing a home on wheels
Having had a VW pop top and a bigger van (L3H2), I would go big every time. Having to constantly pop the roof and then put it away is a bit of a hassle. You can’t beat walking straight into a van and being able to stand up. All the best with your decision, look forward to seeing what you go for 😊👍
I don’t normally comment. But if this is your forever home. I definitely would go for the hard top. NOT soft top. It’s better for Jennie with her chest issues. And will be warmer in colder months. All the best. Love watching you guys. Xx
You are missing the most critical issue with poptops - security! The US is not the UK. And what you see as a big van will not be big in the States. Different world.
100% agree...everything is way bigger...the camp sites are bigger and better and you are going to be travelling for hours at a time....the more space...comfort the better! x
Exactly - that's what came to mind first - it's the biggest single issue especially travelling where you don't know what you might encounter So no pop tops if you value security 🙏🏼
Personally I'd go for the last one, you always need more space than you think and it has a great garage space(big plus). It will serve you well in all weather situations, good luck whichever you decide to get x
I think the last van is perfect. There's no faffing about making beds up, everything you need is on hand, garage space is great, bathroom is awesome, it will be warmer in colder climates. It feels like a proper little tiny home.
Last one , i would suggest it for safety reasons. Pop tops look cute but not if your both asleep and theres a machete weilding maniac able to get in! Remember you are going to America ❤❤
The last one for me, no pop top, bathroom a boon, cooking brilliant and bed all ready. You’ll be glad of the space and ease of use while having a long visit to the USA 👍🌟
Option 4! It will definitely be more conducive to long term living! Warmer in winter and cooler in summer! Janine really loved this one! Could see it in her face and reaction! That's what I would also choose
Full time living I would definitely pick the last option. I think the pop tops are just suitable for weekends. Just having a fixed bed and a proper bathroom is very important
Plus your going to the States. One of the most dangerous countries to travel in. Once in the van you need security. No going for a quick wee in the dark
No 4 is the best .Its a for the long haul. And as you said pop top not good in wind cold etc . Safer in no4 and if you do have problem your not well etc more room .Plus yoy can take bikes paddle boards and make it a home
Definitely the last one for safety and comfort and no having to crouch down if weathers bad and Janines face lit up she loves the bathroom and the cooking space so good luck and hope you have no more van issues moving on 🤞🙏
I would definitely go for the last one...the pop tops seem like a hassle...also with safety while sleeping...not just in all weathers! Good luck on making your choice! 👌👏🍀🍀🤗
Beautiful vans. HOWEVER I doubt Janine will be warm enough in MINUS weather conditions in a pop top!?? The last solid one is stunning and my vote goes there.
Hey Guys, definitely the last one! Everything is designed for bigger cars and trucks in America so it shouldn’t be as much of a problem as in the UK. It’s big but it’s not Morgan sized so I think even in UK it will be OK. Have a blessed week 🙏
The last van with no pop top is the better option. You won't have to worry about leaks, loosing heat when it's cold, or people breaking in. For a long term home it's a better option. And ... Honestly you'll be tiny on the Hwys of America as they are enormous. Aussie girl here who lived in CA, and traveled in a proper enormous RV ( Like the movie with Robin Williams) and it was fantastic. So the little blue one at the end of the video is my pick for you guys. Good luck. ❤
Van number 4, no question. If you’re looking at a long period in the US, don’t choose a pop top. The weather can be unpredictable and extreme at times and the extra space is going to prove invaluable for full time living, as you know! As a Brit who is now living in the US, please be well prepared for your trip here. Without a doubt this is an absolutely beautiful country, and as you go from one end to the other, there are majestic mountains and stunning landscapes, beautiful beaches and wild coastline, and really amazing, unique things to see and do. But please, please keep personal safety and property security in mind at all times. And come visit us when you make it to North Carolina!
If this is your forever van, you need something big but not too big and something that will be nice and warm in winter.. so for me the non pop top has to be the way to go, even better it has a proper shower and toilet, again for winter that has to be a win... MAN all the way for me
Number 4 without any shadow of a doubt. Its up to you of course but if you buy the pop top I think you'll regret it big time. That last one is just beautiful and Janine loved it
Worth buying the wild card due to the fact it’s a home you are looking for. You need some space, you need some comfort and plenty of space for your bikes. Love it.❤
Pop tops are weather-dependent. If the van is your home and not just used for weekend travel, it's something you need to consider, especially if you live in a rainy and cold climate.
Go big or go home guys! When I was van shopping I wanted a pop top and everyone said get a big van and those who had pop tops traded for high tops for the height room, pop tops can be a nightmare and I’m so glad I listened especially after spending 5 weeks touring the UK. You’re going to the US and Canada, size isn’t guna be a problem, comfort, security, height and a kitchen with a view over weigh everything. Plus I’d worry about being in the US and sleeping under canvas every night, the big van is much safer and secure and weather proof. Get the big van, it’s amazing, it’s safe and you won’t regret it 👏👏👏 so excited for you eeeekkkkk 🎉
Having owned a VW T5 pop top which we love and have travelled part time in for 12 years, we are currently having a MAN converted to be able to travel in for much longer periods. Our biggest considerations for moving up a size slightly are, more storage, fixed bed and slightly more facilities, though we are only having a toilet cubicle to gain more inside space with an external shower instead. As others have also said you have to consider the restrictions with a pop top. We blew the pistons in ours when we camped in -6 degrees as they had frozen. They can also be a problem in windy conditions. Good luck guys whichever you choose.
Canvas sides flap and whistle in the wind, cold in cold weather, not secure when you are away doing other interesting stuff.... I'd go solid every time for peace of mind.
I love the look of the pop tops, but to live in full time, number 4 does seem more practical. Good luck with whatever you do. Only you know what is right for you 😊
Definitely No 4. Rigid van better than a pop top particularly with what you want to use it for. Much more secure and 9hopefully) less to go wrong. Good luck.
If you can afford the Sven Hedin and the bed with the flare is long enough buy it. I’m sure it’s only 6m and you’ll definitely appreciate the fixed bed if you’re living in it. Speak to Campervan Time (previously California Time) because they have just swapped from the pop top to the Sven Henin. Also Carol and Ken will give you sound advice. They’ve transformed their experience moving from Little Red to Snoopy and the Sven Heflin is only 54cm longer than their new van. Finally, if you’re travelling across America the driving experience and the view will be lovely in the bigger van.
Ahh Carol and Ken from Life is too short are such a lovely gentle channel. They love their van snoopy. They have a convertible lounge bed at the rear rather than a fixed bed, but for full time living I'd prefer the layout of the Sven Hedin.
Our winter in Canada is supposed to be pretty cold this year, and that's not even mentioning the roads in winter. You will need a solid roof and if you get snowed in trust me you're going to want the hardtop bigger van. I'd go for the proper hard top van with the offroad tires.
I agree with everyone who has opted for the last one. It will be your home, storage, security, comfort, all are essential. Hope you choose the last one. Look forward to seeing what you get.
Haha, it's amazing. I've read down about fifty of the comments and every single one of them said option 4, go big. I agree. You know it makes sense and you have to look after your precious wife Liam 🥰
No brainer guys, big van, plenty storage, bikes etc, lovely shower room and tall enough for you stand up in Liam. Oh and the bed is fixed with no flaffing around. You could see Janine's expressive leanings towards this one especially with the open cooking aspect! Go for it! 👊💖👊
I'm excited for u they are all very nice ....i wouldn't buy electric ...too many fire stories with them for my liking . I love the last one pop tops are ok but like u pointed out about weather etc . If i had to choose it would be the last one .
Percentage wise, ICE cars burn down more often. I agree though, that electric campervans do not yet have the desired range (especially not in the USA).
Is it left hand drive? You'll never manage in north American traffic on the wrong side in among juggernauts. That last van is small in US. Be prepared to travel many miles and forget stealth. Good luck.
Option 4 guys. Canada and USA will be freezing in the winter and boiling in the summer. Chances of using the pop top there will be restricted. Plus security...Best if luck 👍
Your last option guy's. I have had a pop-top Bongo with R&R bed and a Hymer Swing motorhome. Fun times in both. What I would go for now if I was looking it would be for something transit size with a ready made bed, to me that is key. If one of you isn't feeling too or wants to lay in there isn't that panic of we need to get up! Something transit size is going to fit in any non restricted height car park. Give Janine some comforts! lol Take care both.
My vote, like others here goes to a SWB van with no pop out roof. Had a rooftop tent on my 4x4 for a few years and in wind you end up hating it, now I m converting my LWB Sprinter as I need the space… good luck and any van is better than nothing 😅
100% the Man. You listed the issues with pop-tops which the Man doesn't have. Imagine going to sleep in a pop-top then being woken at 2am with high winds and driving rain! Also, the Man has all the storage space you'll need. Pop-tops are really weekenders, a week at best. That's your decision made, no buy it and get it shipped to British Bermuda 😀
Number 4 Wild Card for sure! It won’t feel big at all here in the US of A - just wait until til you see the giant motor homes driving around on the highways here, lol! This option has been very popular and with all the major weather changes from hot to cold and everything in-between this will serve better over all. I believe all rest areas on major highways are safety maintained so pop top isn’t a worry and you wouldn’t leave it open while away but yes, many a wild critter could chew through the canvas as well has the worry of mold and mildew if not dried sufficiently before collapsing for travel. Some states are very high in humidity. All the best!
Must be the wild card. Checked with Campersales, and the Sven Hedin is not available and new one won't be in until October. So did I guess correctly? Hope so as I've had happy days following you for 3 years. Stay safe and do keep posting. Sussex subscriber.😎
Since you are planning on touring and living in America for months, I would go with number four. Also, being so close to Canada I'm sure you will want to try for visas there. Air conditioner/ heating is a must...along with a toilet. #winwin
Be happy with whatever you choose. I used to worry about height barriers all the time and now we have a bigger van how wrong was I. Only twice since January we couldn’t get under one. We would never go back to a pop top. We don’t care anymore when high winds and driving rain come and in the winter the pop top will be shut more than it’s up. Out of all of those vans the big one every day of the week 😁👍
You guys are the voice of reason haha! Always respected and appreciate what you have to say, including now 👌 Although I would disagree slightly about car park barriers as in france etc we came across a lot...but it's not a worry as there's always another spot round the corner 😉
My pet hate are height barrier's. I pay road tax, and insurance so why can't I park. We can be easily excluded from overnight stopovers. Worse still, some park and rides do not accommodate larger campervan or motor homes making it so difficult to visit with ease. For example, Leicester don't, York does. So often we end up outside someone's home blocking their view, which I don't want to do.
Please Go Big! The weather in Canada and the USA needs that van for the vast changeable range of weather changes you will experience. It’s a proper road tripper home. Treat yourselves with respect and choose #4! PLEASE!❤❤❤❤
@@ThoseHappyDays no we had bilbos vw conversion which was side elevated and waterproof so better in wind if you are parked the right way round but honestly in winter on a large cold continent it’s such a different ball game to camping in this mild country ( I’ve travelled to Canada and USA but not camped there )
Definitely the 4th option the bigger Sven Hedin. You’ll really appreciate the permanent space and weather proofing (no pop top). It’s not that much bigger but gives you so much more living and bathroom space and safe internal storage for bikes. Car parks not such an issue in USA or Europe (really just a problem in the UK). Enjoy following your adventures and lifestyle/life choice. This is a big decision and needs to be right for your hearts and heads! Good luck.
Did I miss something. I thought you had pulled out shipping a vehicle out to the USA? Or are you going via Canada? I think the last one, the 4 wheel drive off road, would be best for your lifestyle.
100000% the last one. Pop tops get so annoying after a while and the extra space in the large van will be indispensable when you’re living in it long term.
Heres why we have chosen these vans, so that it makes sense to you: ruclips.net/video/GDpdh97_vrU/видео.html
It helps make sense of it all 😂
Take the wild card… aka the MAN van 🚐 no bike rack needed and loads of space 🎉
VW high top.... Reliable. Stylist. Great on mileage.. ❤
@@michellegouda3170 but also expensive whenever you need to go into the shop
If you still haven't decided, you need to watch Campervan Time and their honest review of owning the Sven Hedin for 6 months.
Bigger van with no pop top. Janine loved it, you could just see it in her face. Cooking with a view. All safe and secure for sleeping. Pop tops good for warmer nights but when the wind is howling and the rain is pouring........not so sure. Lots to consider for sure 😊xx

I agree, its very decent, but.....if u can only 50% park up? In the U.S it wont matter but in europe it may.
Last one for sure, it won't feel big in the US and will be the most comfortable long term. Good luck!
Big mistake to go the pop top route for America you will probably need a small ac unit fitted to the roof to combat the extreme temperatures. And for security reason the pop top is useless for a bear attack wild camping. Please choose the last one in your video and stay safe.😊
100% agree
Exactly - security and weather conditions and events - especially based on what US has experienced in the last 2/3 years. The extreme weather events all over US must be taken into consideration when purchasing a home on wheels
Makes sense to me.
Couldn't have said it any better than that. 👍
Totally agree. You will need aircon in the US. Pop top raises security concerns as well, not just from bears, but also people
The last one 100% I've been in vans for 30 years and in my experience its safe , secure, roomy ! Perfect !!! ❤
Hi guys….the last one for sure! Good luck!
Bigger one, deffo.
Definitely no 4 van , with no pop top, it’s beautiful and janine fell in love with it,
Having had a VW pop top and a bigger van (L3H2), I would go big every time. Having to constantly pop the roof and then put it away is a bit of a hassle. You can’t beat walking straight into a van and being able to stand up. All the best with your decision, look forward to seeing what you go for 😊👍
This is exactly why I'm looking at bigger vans (I have a T5)
I don’t normally comment. But if this is your forever home. I definitely would go for the hard top. NOT soft top. It’s better for Jennie with her chest issues. And will be warmer in colder months. All the best. Love watching you guys. Xx
Lol, they're not going to live in the next van they buy "forever".
You are missing the most critical issue with poptops - security! The US is not the UK. And what you see as a big van will not be big in the States. Different world.
100% agree...everything is way bigger...the camp sites are bigger and better and you are going to be travelling for hours at a time....the more space...comfort the better! x
Completely agree, especially from a security aspect👍
I"m a Brit who lives over here and you're right, they think that's big? LOL It's compact and they'll need all the room they can get.
But this looks great, i Seen van Live on RUclips.people in USA with smaller vans 🤔 so this looks perfect 👌
Exactly - that's what came to mind first - it's the biggest single issue especially travelling where you don't know what you might encounter
So no pop tops if you value security 🙏🏼
Personally I'd go for the last one, you always need more space than you think and it has a great garage space(big plus). It will serve you well in all weather situations, good luck whichever you decide to get x
I think the last van is perfect. There's no faffing about making beds up, everything you need is on hand, garage space is great, bathroom is awesome, it will be warmer in colder climates. It feels like a proper little tiny home.
The last one is it Liam! Lovely living space . So exciting !
Last one , i would suggest it for safety reasons. Pop tops look cute but not if your both asleep and theres a machete weilding maniac able to get in! Remember you are going to America ❤❤
And the machete weilding bears!! Don't forget those!
Your not selling a trip to the states......Are machete weilding maniacs a major issue there?
Toured recently for 11mths in the US remote, large towns, small town America, never felt insecure, it’s a wonderful place.
The last one for me, no pop top, bathroom a boon, cooking brilliant and bed all ready. You’ll be glad of the space and ease of use while having a long visit to the USA 👍🌟
Last one all they way! No compromise when it comes to space
Definitely the last one, no pop top. Better for living permanently and withstanding any weather! 😀❤❤
Absolutely love the last one. You can use it all year and stay dry and warm in the winter.
Option 4! It will definitely be more conducive to long term living! Warmer in winter and cooler in summer! Janine really loved this one! Could see it in her face and reaction! That's what I would also choose
Big all day long, to be permanent home you will get fedup of putting poptop up & down so go high top😊
Option 4 - definitely the better one even if the shipping costs are higher.
Option 4 for safety and comfort . Try a tent in the snow to compare them 4 , 4 ,4.
Full time living I would definitely pick the last option. I think the pop tops are just suitable for weekends. Just having a fixed bed and a proper bathroom is very important
We've done it all without proper bathrooms so far ok, so that's not a major concern for us
Yes but that was short term Janine loves her showers and clean hair! Happy wife, happy life
Plus your going to the States.
Definitely the last one.
No 4 is by far the best! Good luck!
Big Van for sure! 😍😍😍
Option 4
Definitely the last one for safety and comfort and no having to crouch down if weathers bad and Janines face lit up she loves the bathroom and the cooking space so good luck and hope you have no more van issues moving on 🤞🙏
Definitely No.4 for me. Spacious, plenty of natural light, more comfortable and more convenient than the pop up to my mind.🙂
I would definitely go for the last one...the pop tops seem like a hassle...also with safety while sleeping...not just in all weathers! Good luck on making your choice! 👌👏🍀🍀🤗
Number 4 you onow it makes sense, stormy weather in the other 3 would be awful good 🤞

100% last van. You could see Janine loved it. Keep her warm on the colder nights. Her face lit up ❤❤❤

Number 4 is perfect. Safe spacious comfortable proper home 🥰🥰
All of them looks really cool and comfy, but the last one is the best to me because it would be safe, solid and suitable for every weather. 😊
#4 safe secure better in all weather
Don't forget to check the length of the beds, Liam. If it is going to be your 'forever' van, you must choose comfort over everything else. Xx😊
Good call!
Sven Hedin all day long...perfect spec 👍👍
I love the look of the pop tops, but to live in full time, number 4 does seem more practical. Good luck with whatever you do. Only you know what is right for you 😊

The Man van for sure. ❤
Definitely No 4. Rigid van better than a pop top particularly with what you want to use it for. Much more secure and 9hopefully) less to go wrong. Good luck.

I think most people who have bought a pop top end up regretting it so then they sell it to buy something better.
Absolutely true.
The bigger van!! Also loved the colour! Chunky wheels, perfect!! Love it!!
Good luck deciding! For a year in USA the large one is very practical but they’re all lush.:)
Go for the last one. This home will hopefully last you many years and you will need the space and to feel secure.
Number 4 for me ❤
Go for this one. I love this and it is more secure for both types of weather. Hugs
The last one is your solution. It is going to be your forever home. Just based on that, the other 3 would not be enough in time imho. 😊
Always respected and appreciate what you have to say, including now 👌
Although I would disagree slightly about car park barriers as in france etc we came across a lot...but it's not a worry as there's always another spot round the corner 😉
PLEASE!❤❤❤❤
Are you going to Canada now or the Spring ? We’ve had a pop top wind and cold are not good with that model ❤
Have you had the westfalia pop top
@@ThoseHappyDays no we had bilbos vw conversion which was side elevated and waterproof so better in wind if you are parked the right way round but honestly in winter on a large cold continent it’s such a different ball game to camping in this mild country ( I’ve travelled to Canada and USA but not camped there )
High roof campervan all the way!!
But… check the length of the bed - remember the problem you had in Freda.
Big van for sure!
Good luck.
Got to be 4 love it xxx
Loving the reviews, your opinions that come from your experience and hopefully you’ll make the perfect choice for you both
Did I miss something. I thought you had pulled out shipping a vehicle out to the USA? Or are you going via Canada? I think the last one, the 4 wheel drive off road, would be best for your lifestyle.
Via Canada for sure unless another way presents itself
100000% the last one. Pop tops get so annoying after a while and the extra space in the large van will be indispensable when you’re living in it long term.
Hi guys love the video and the vans you both have come along way from 07 ford. Van you both have a lovely week 😊😊😊😊
Thank you! You too!
