Super helpful and awesome video! I sold my first vinyl today and this video gave me all the info I need to do it the right way. Thanks Vinyl for Miles!
As a new seller, this is an amazingly helpful video! I love that it also covers a bunch of price point options (sold a vinyl quicker than expected so wanted to get it out but it'll be before the vinyl mailers arrive).
This is the video I needed. I just inherited a ton of records from my Father. Spanish vintage music from the 50s through the 80s, and I am so scared to sell and ship. Thanks for the information.
Thank You. Great info and very professional work.. Loved the face when shaking 😂😂 I am just getting started with selling, shipping Records as part of my variations of items in my business.. I have a lot of them to go through.
Thank you so much! This is so extremely helpful, and was so thoroughly and perfectly explained. I am so grateful that you took the time to share all of this great information.
Outstanding tutorial! Just starting my vinyl trading journey, and this video was very helpful! Havent put any up for sale yet, so I have time to grab some supplies. :-) EDIT: and I love the Brandon Lee print in the background. :-)
Thanks for the tips and the links. I have been making my own packaging to mail vinyl and haven't had any complaints or returns, but didn't feel comfortable with my make-shift packaging. I bought some used record boxes at the thrift store, but with the padding I use the boxes become too small to use. I did place an order for some magic mailers with the link you provided, but, since I live on the west coast and they use UPS to ship, the price for the mailers becomes exorbitant.
damn those mailers are much better than the ones i got from amazon. they do not have the inside triangle flaps so I reinforced the edges with packing tape.
Michael this is awesome. So glad I just found this! I know this is an older video so I don't know if you'll see my question and reply, but, does anyone know the best way to sell old classic albums? I was thinking Etsy? ANY SUGGESTIONS FROM ANYONE?
Very helpful, thank you. I'm wondering would the process be the same if it was a 2 or 3 lp set. Maybe same process but with cardboard in-between the lps?
@@Music-for-Miles yes, I totally get what you’re saying. I was recently given hundreds of old vinyl but it old opera (Pavarotti etc) Show tunes ( rodgers/Hammerstein). I’d hate to throw them out but don’t know enough to sell property and profitably. Seriously like 300-400 lp’s. Well kept
@@jcstevegigs might have luck selling it as a lot instead of individually! But definitely go through the whole collection you may have some gems in there!
Thanks for this video! I bought a collectable album a few years ago. It is well worth $1000.00. Would you leave it sealed or list it open for inspection? thanks in advance for your help! Gerry
I’m sorry but you’re wrong. Discogs mint grading can be opened for inspection but must be “unplayed”. I’ve been selling for quite a while and I’ve had so many returns having to do with manufacturer defects or torn inner sleeves from shipping that it was more profitable to open, inspect and repackage than to deal with returns. The best way to ship a record to avoid split spines is to pack the records on the outside of the outter sleeve which many labels do now with resealable bags, not shrink wrap. I clearly label the listings opened to inspect. I have seen no difference in price when I sell inspected un-sealed vs sealed other than reduced returns for the reasons mentioned above. blog.discogs.com/en/how-to-determine-the-condition-of-a-vinyl-record/
@Brady Lavy No, it wouldn’t. If the plastic has been broken and the record is still in good shape that holds more value than a record completely sealed with warps and ripped sleeves. A sealed record is not a mint record just because it’s sealed.
You link Bags Unlimited for high quality mailers, but their reviews as a company do not look so good. Any other company that sells the high quality mailers.
Hey,why don't you stop wasting time and go get a U-Haul box and cut it into 2 boxes, just cut the (2) 16in flaps ,u can even use the flaps as 1 cardboard piece by making it 12 3/8 square ,use a 2nd sleeve And feed the 2 flaps and put them in..u can then put the folds up vertically and score a line to the size exactly of your lp,then center it and put flaps down fold score fold fold, then the extra 3 in 7/8 will be a flap where u make the customer or buyer use his box cutter the right way opening and never have shake issue ever
By all means, continue to OPEN brand new vinyls and sell them as used while I make more money keeping mine sealed for the customer. That is the dumbest advice I've ever heard.
😂 NM/M unplayed is worth the same as new on Discogs. It’s very much worth it to me to open and inspect the album based on how many returns I’ve had for factory imperfections or split spines from shipping. Placing the album on the outside of the sleeve is the best possible way to ship an album too I’ve even sold sealed albums and had collectors ask me to open and place the album on the outside. Do your thing buddy I know what’s best for me 😂
Hello. I sell a lot of records and I have had so many "sealed" records get returned to me from manufacturer defects that I now unseal and inspect all my records and put them in upgraded sleeves. I have seen zero difference in value of a mint record vs sealed. You don't have to do this but for me it has saved me a lot of money and time.
@@Music-for-Miles Great vid! I think what most are talking about, when mentioning opening sealed records, are older records that are sealed. Those hold value with the fact that they are unopened. I agree with opening new records to inspect them. Many are not pressed or reissued with the same care and quality as the old originals. Many of those do come with defects. The ones that shouldn't be opened are the old records that were pressed pre-2000s. I own a few from that era that are still sealed. I have duplicates for listening and keep the sealed ones as the Mint copies in my collection.
yah that's way overkill for me. i am going to try selling some records on eBay and well the records already have the cardboard they are sold in so i will just toss them in an envelope or wrap it in paper and mail it out. this way it keeps the cost down if i do it this way it should cost less than $3 media mail. if i do it your way trying to protect an old piece of junk someone more than likely is using for some art project since no one listens to records anymore then it would cost $7 to ship plus the cost of the envelope. i will ship my way and tell the buyer if they want better they can pay for it and i will offer insurence. i be most people are not willing to pay the extra money for something few people want. records or LPs as you call them are a dead out-of-date formate we now have songs that can be downloaded on our phones and sound way better.
It's definitely not a dead format. Vinyl records have been the dominant format for sales for the last few years. Hence why they sell turntables at Walmart and Target again. Or why small shops are popping up all over again.

You have been the most helpful of all of the other shipping vinyl records videos ever. I didn’t grow up during the vinyl records time.
Glad I could help! I buy and sell often so hopefully my tips can help others. I’ve received way too many albums damaged in transit over the years.

If the seller doesn't want the new album opened to put in a polybag, any suggestions other than more bubble wrap?

Why are the inserts 12 inches when my albums are all 12 7/16 inches square? Should they be bigger than just 12"?????

It’s not mint if it’s opened. A lot of buyers, myself included, especially for the higher end records want sealed copies. The value is much higher.

How to know international shipping cost? If Im gonna sell a record to someone in UK let’s say

How much is insurance?
Use the box invertedly even to be blank inside
mind blowing you managed to stretch this to 18 minutes
That's what she said!
How would you pack one which has two vinyl in it?
A dual LP or two separate records? Dual LP you can put the two LPs back to back in the outer poly sleeve out of the cover.
@@Music-for-Miles dual EP! And thank you. A couple of my compilation reissues have two LPs and I couldn’t really find anything on how to package them.

I don’t like sending out my premium resealable sleeves when I sell records lol I try reuse everything I can.
