  • This is onboard footage of my cousin Ciar's first lap at the Valley Xtreme Lite Race. He was in Row 13 and part of the Big Bike Class (Twin) 600cc Above.
    Or though he raced within the Big Bike Class his timing is part of the Sportsman Class due to booking the event and planning to take his 450 EXC-F but due to electrical problems We swapped to the 790 the night before.
    In the Sportsman Class, He managed 73rd out of 103 riders with a fastest lap of 17m 38.94s and overall was 165th out of 248 riders.
    If we compare his results to the Big Bike Class he would have come around 18th out of 40 based on fastest lap time.
    he did have a front brake issue and towards the end an overheating issue due to a mud-packed radiator.
    It was a fantastic day and we both would recommend it.

    To clarify this is not me riding or my bike! I did a voice-over at the start and end.
    This is my cousin Cair and his 790 R which you may have seen in many other videos of mine as we ride together a lot. He deserves all the credit and praise as it's his skills, not mine.

    Awesome video. I’ve got a 790 and this just shows how capable the bike is with the right rider on board. Fantastic courage and skill 👍

      @@Adv_Charlie yes yes I saw your video of the suspensions upgrade...a question: my rear shock absorber 2 days ago has exploded..on my 790 adventure S 2020. Is it difficult dismount for a revision? I don want to buy a new one. I saw your video. In reality how much hours go for dismount it? Sorry for my bad english. PS your S now is an R..REALLY BEAUTIFUL

    Thanks for the upload! @3:45 Kove flew right by! Really is something new in the adventure market (though I'm not sure it should be labled as an adenture bike ;))

      The red Kove won the expert Class! Yeah, I would think it needs a stronger subframe to cope with luggage. Lyndon Poskitt rode his rally bike around the world so it's true when they say any bike is an adventure bike.

      imo adventure bike = the comfort you're willing to tolerate, the reliability to cover large distances (taking down to starbucks is fine too of course, but that's owning an adventure bike without the application / need for it to be an adventure bike), offroad ability, and how little annoyance it gives you when you're putting up big miles. Lyndon's special trick / important for him thing was making the bike basically bulletproof through some amazing engineering know-how. So yeah, beyond the marketing, adventure bike is mostly a define it yourself thing...but if any of the above rules aren't true for you, you've maybe picked the wrong one.

      @@nomading_in True indeed. What I meant by my comment was that there when people usually talk about adv bikes they are more mainstream.. The 690 rally used by LP, and i think the Kove, are more adventurized rally bikes.. I ride an 890 adv r and I don't think it'd stand up against any of these two in a rally...

    • @Adv_Charlie
      @Adv_Charlie  5 месяцев назад +2

      Very true and reliability is the one that might get me but i’m going with it anyway

    • @nomading_in
      @nomading_in 5 месяцев назад +1

      To some extent (and I agree with both of you)...it's amazing adventure bikes actually last at all in a rally setting...it's so hard on a bike compared to most other things you'd do with it. Like Kove getting a bunch of abuse for their reliability during the Dakar...that's someone putting their bike through absolute hell...it's such a high bar. Group KTM high five, 790 owner here *high fives, misses*

      @Adv_Charlie  5 месяцев назад +2

      He did 5 in total the last one he had to stop and let his bike cool down a few times because the radiator was blocked with mud
