Fukushima, Japan, a place that has become known for one of the world’s worst nuclear disasters. We have been road tripping Japan in our DIY self converted campervan bus and in this video, Shota heads to Fukushima Prefecture to learn more about what happened on the 3rd March 2011 and to see the devastating aftermath for himself.

WHO AM I? I’m Shota and I left Japan at the age of 19 and spent 9 years travelling and discovering the world. In early 2020, I returned to Japan with my Scottish girlfriend Ruth and we converted an old delivery van into a DIY camper van to live in full-time. We spent 18 months doing full-time van life in Japan and visited many incredible places off the beaten path. While on our van trip, we spontaneously purchased an ex-Japanese police bus we saw for sale and took on the challenge of converting it into our dream off-grid tiny home on wheels! We are now back on the road exploring lesser discovered places in Japan.
