Anyone who gets in the car of a driver THEY DID NOT HIRE THROUGH A KNOWN SERVICE deserves whatever befalls them... if YOU didn't order the ride... DONT get in the car. From a 7yr 5star Uber Driver.
Taxis don’t service local residents needing rides to our homes across the valley. Taking a passenger sometimes 20 miles or more, with an empty cab on the other end of the one way ride isn’t as profitable as running multiple fares in the same time and distance. Try calling a cab for rides services that are nowhere near the tourist corridor, like when your car is in the shop, or other such small travel needs. This is how Uber and Lyft filled a necessary niche for residents.
@ERAforALL I have called a taxi to pick me up from my house to take me to a bar and another to take me back to my house after the party was done and it was a seamless process that was very affordable.
Confused, aren't these just black cars? They're everywhere in NYC and used often for those that are in a hurry knowing they cost more. If you're calling an Uber with a corolla, and you get tricked into a black suburban thinking its your Uber, you got bigger problems.
these independent operators are just try to make a living. it's not like cab companies, Uber or Lyft does any background checks of any sort. not any safer or more dangerous.
Exactly. This practice used to be called 'Jitney Drivers' in the Deep South and East Coast in the late 50's to early 70's. Back then it was almost always 20% to 50% cheaper than regular cab fare. Many countries in East Asia do this too today.
They do background checks. They denied me for a speeding ticket 15 years earlier and I had to appeal. But anyone can drive someone for money as long as they have a business license and they can’t pick up at the airport.
WRONG. Uber DOES do background checks. Also... Uber provides ONE MILLION DOLLARS insurance to Riders AND Drivers. I've been in an accident with passengers, UBER WAS SPECTACULAR to deal with and paid for EVERYTHING. Get in the car with one of these guys... do they even have insurance??? Think before you speak, especially when you don't know what you're speaking about. Anything goes wrong on an Uber, Lyft or Taxi ride... you have THE COMPANY to talk to. Anything goes wrong on one of these guys rides... YOU THINK they're gonna help you sue them??? NO. Ignorant comment.
P.S. Hey, I just wanna make a living.... think I'll go serve sketchily cooked foods to people... becasue ya know, who cares about legitimacy and safety protocols. By the time they get food poisoning, I'll be long gone... and ya know... I'm just tryin to make a living, right???
Uber and Lyft drivers don’t have any special license or permit. Anyone can drive anyone for money as long as they don’t lie about who they are. I wouldn’t recommend getting into an untracked car with an unknown driver but it’s not illegal. The airport has an agreement with those two companies but in general the driver just have a business license that anyone can get.
The entire point you're missing is LEGITIMACY IN THE FACE OF AN ACCIDENT. Uber and Lyft COVER PASSENGERS AND DRIVERS up to a MIllion Dollars. I've been through an accident with Uber, someone hit US and guess what... they TOOK CARE of my passengers and myself. Paid ALL my hospital bills. It's not about have a License.... it's about LIABILITY. These rouge drivers... do they even have insurance???? You know NOTHING about them and when the shit hits the fan on the ride... they will NOT assist YOU the rider during YOUR HEALTH CONCERNS. But hey... keep talking out your ass about things from a limiited perspective.
If they have a license plate in my state that says livery then they are cool….but $$$ but they typically drive black suvs. They also dont go by uber lanes but share with taxi line.
This story should go this way. Lyft and Uber our robbing the drivers to the point where they need to do these things to survive in the expensive place call Las Vegas now. How about doing the story on WHY... Lyft and Uber are charging 3 times more and paying the drivers pennies.
Do you do Uber/Lyft?? I've been full time for seven years... still five stars... and I make $30-40hr literally just picking people up and taking them where they're going. No meetings. No side work. Nothing to clean or fold or stock. No managers. No shitty depressing debbie downer coworkers. I make $7000mo doing Uber alone these days. Yeah, I'm being "robbed" lol

No need to blur faces, there is no expectation of privacy at a public place like the airport.
rideshare drivers are already underpaid, then these jerks
IT'S PREY NOT PRAY.

You could always just, ya know, get a taxi.

@@Unmei_Ka I’m glad that it worked out for you (and kudos for responsible drinking). It doesn’t work for everyone.

Its called soliciting
As a local, when I leave the airport I ONLY use Uber or Lyft. I hope everyone stays vigilant.
This is Las Vegas' biggest problem right now?
Simply take a taxi 🚕
The ride share drivers don’t stand where you wait

Finally !! THOSE TCP DRIVERS HAVE TO BE STOPPED
THEY DOUBLE CHARGE THE POOR PASSENGERS.
You’re putting yourself in Danger ⚠️

Just use taxi
All you guys complaining about them. You have fun paying $50 to go 5 miles... The drivers are doing nothing wrong except taking out the middle men
