I've heard of runners logging upwards of 500 miles or more on their SB1, which speaks to the durability. At $200 USD, that durability is appreciated. I use mine strictly for 18 to 22 mile long runs with workouts. Otherwise, for 16 mile or less at easy pace, I use the Novablast. I only have 107 miles on the SB, so I have a ways to go before I can pick up the SB2. Thx. Chris.
You are using them for their designed purpose spot on to the spec. Also pairing them with a NB for shorter runs is perfect. I’m also curious how many miles some will get out of these. Those that got 600-1000km in the SB1 should get the same. It won’t be me who finds out, but someone will.
@HyperOpticalSaint NB & SB complement each other. Why use a $$$ super trainer for shorter, easy pace runs when you can use a significantly more cost-effective shoe for the same purpose?
Did my first run in the SB2 yesterday - 13.6 miles. I find the heel strike more cushioned and comfortable in v2, although curiously, my feet felt it when I was forefoot striking on uphills more so than in v1. Also, it was really warm and humid during the run and the new mesh upper retained a lot more sweat than v1. Finally, can’t begin to tell you how much I appreciated not having to pick rocks out at the end of the run!
FFTurbo+ is simply a much better foam. Here in Taipei, in July, it is 33-36c and humid daily... so my shoes fill with sweat quickly. The SB1 would retain more sweat in the shoe...but I find the SB2 drains it quite a bit better. The upper does hold onto some more moisture but the interior of the shoe is less wet for me.
The SB2 in this video is actually very good looking in person. Maybe one of my favorite Asics color ways ever. However, Asics NEVER does “normal”’color ways for any of the “blast” shoes…..it’s like they are trying to make the most obnoxious and atrocious color combos they can come up with.
Haha...I mean...it is why I make these "vs" videos, to answer such questions in a very searchable way. It is why I don't bury these comparisons in another video or try to group them all in one video (I do that only when I have too much to cover).
Thanks for this excellent vid! Super clear on the key differences. I feel like you spoke to me at the end 🤣 I will finish my SB1. Only hit 360km to date. Hopefully I will get a discount then😬
Not sure the Superblast ever gets a discount… though here in Asia it is Les popular…. So you are in the right place. Either way, it will be there when you are ready to upgrade!
Both brands (and Nike) have done that before. I see it...but it's not unique. Though, in 2025 it seems it will be a BIG part of Adidas's design language.
@@yiann1sk Asics executed it VERY well. Everything lines up nicely and is super clean. Unlike what Nike did on the AF3. Adidas's execution is very well done as well on the Evo 1.
Thanks for another informative review. Could you expand on what you mean by FF Blast + Eco being “more consistent”? I would expect the opposite to be true - greater variability in a foam made of recycled rather than virgin material. Keep the reviews coming!
Generally speaking Eco foams are a mess normally. They break down faster and don’t feel all that great to run in. However with FfBlast+ ECO Asics has done the impossible. I’m not a fan of FFBlast+, I find it ranges from dead to fun to way to squishy…. And you never know what you’ll get on each run or during a run. I’ve talked about this alot on the channel. When FFBlast+ feels good, it’s a fun foam, but they window in the life of the shoe or I a run is too narrow. Oddly FFBlast+ ECO is remarkably consistent and feels like the “fun” version of FFBlast+, but without the wild swings. It’s to the point that if a shoe is just FFBlast+ I won’t even bother. If it is mixed with another foam or plate I’ll give it a chance…. But otherwise avoiding. FFBlast+ ECO I enjoy, when I want a squishy soft ride and foam (which isn’t often). That’s what I mean. Thank you for the kind words on the channel. 🤙🏻
I’m curious how long they last about 500km. It won’t be me who seems but I’m sure there will be some out there who do. I went TTS with the SB 1 & 2, US men’s size 9…. Just like all the other shoes I wear across all brands.
Thank you for that comparison.. Excited for mine to arrive in the next couple of days. Have you tried the magic speed 4? I’ve been thinking it may pair well with the SB for higher paced efforts.
Nope. I won’t be covering the MS4. I was a big fan of the MS3 and am not pleased with the direction they took the MS4. A Metaspeed Paris is a better pairing for the SB2 anyway. The FfTurbo+ foams are much much better.
@iosifkovalenko8364 with a SB2 and the Sky Paris… you are set. Maybe a NB4 for a true daily trainer and you have 90% of it all covered. The MS4 doesn’t need to exist.
@@SagasuRunning From asics, I use the evoride speed as a daily trainer. Once broken in, it reminds me of a clifton except more fun to run in. I’m embarrassed to say how many pairs of running shoes I already have in my rotation lol. But I don’t seem to get on with NB.
For SB2, is the upper fabric similar to the Nimbus 25 fabric? Concerned about the big toe creating a similar hole in the SB2... the SB1 has a tougher synthetic mesh upper which is more ideal for me, but i am tempted by the SB2's better grip in wet conditions vs my SB1s
I'm loving the Superblast 2 - and your videos on them too boss. Quick question, how did you use ChatGPT to determine the rubber coverage - simply asked it, or uploaded an image (like @ 2 mins mark) and got it to measure or some other way? Thank you! Love anything I learn to widen my use and understanding of AI. Cheers.
I uploaded an image and had it tell me percentage of color differences (outsole to base foam). I also uploaded an image and told it that it was looking at a shoe outsole and what the base foam color was. Both got similar results. I'm sure there is a better way, but those are the ones I came up with. Half the issue with ChatGPT is how to phrase the question/prompt.
@@SagasuRunning Thanks, that's helpful. Yes, totally agree - the thoroughness of the prompt correlates to the quality of the response. Nice work, cheers.
Hey… new to the channel, great video as always. Looking to run sub 2 half marathon, would you suggest going with SB OG or SB2 or something else. Thank you.
About 9 years ago ran 1:27:xx HM in Clifton 1… have only started running HM distance again this year… been running 10ks for the past few years. This year, have completed 2 HMs each in 2 hours 11 minutes running in SB 1. Been using this shoe for all workouts. Thank you.
I only put about 220km into my SB1. As much as I love the shoe it’s not a type of shoe I run in very often. As for my durability, other than wearing some of the small tread off of the outsole rubber I consider the shoe “like new”. Nowhere near the 600-1000km I saw many getting in them. I’ll be curious how much people get out of the SB2.
the problem with asics sizing for someone with too much wide foot like me is that I need to get the wide side for them to fit my foot perfectly. superblast 1 only came with one sizing, fortunately it fits well enough. I do have them and run with them almost everyday even though I can still feel how snug they are. I hope with the new knit upper, they will snug comfortably this time 😅
The knit upper will stretch much more on the SB2 than the motion wrap did on the SB1. It won’t be a “wide” fit, but will feel more generous than the SB1 did.

Is this a strictly cost concern or Novablast is better for short runs?

I’ve gotten 700 miles out of mine, still going strong but will likely upgrade to avoid possible injury
For sure the SB2 is softer on foot and it's what I need the "upgrade" from the V1
I think many people will feel this way.
Just received them, this colour way look better in person, it's a keep for me! And they fit just like Novablast 4.
They fit similar to the NB4, but better. I like the upper much better on the SB2, especially the toebox. I do love this SB2 color way though...
Love how they fixed the problems and not introduced new problems (looking at you Hoka).
Agree…. It is rare restraint.
Thankfully they didn't Nike it
@Sabundy actually in 2024, it’s more they didn’t Puma it.
