Once again a great thorough review Tish. I do like the CEE'D, for the money a well equipped family car that's reliable and backed by a great warranty. I'd certainly be happy with this car for the commute or family days out.
As a KIA Ceed owner I confirm what she says about the performance. It doesn't feel like an engine which generates 160 hp. That's something that instantly caught my eye when test-driving.
We have a 20 18 GT Line with the glass roof and 1600 diesel engine I think. Had a test drive of the new Ceed, a great deal offered on a part ex. The fact the amount of trade in was nearly twice the amount of our last payment failed to convince us to deal. For us there was no comparison, the 2018 has more style and much more grunt if you want it. The seven year warranty is an absolute godsend and our local dealer uses the warranty to everyone's advantage. Good on Kia for sticking with it. We still run a 2014 sport wagon too, the mileage it gives is amazing.
There isn't an engine offered in the 2018 GT line with more power than the 1.5L 158bhp tested here so unsure what you are talking about? Interior is definitely not as good of a quality in the pre-face lift to facelift model either so very strange.
Great review Tish I’ve always liked the Kia Ce’ed and a well designed attractive car they always pick striking colours as well a real competitor to European makes the brand has really come on over the years
Nice review, we actually bought this spec car but in the blue - I agree with most of the points, especially needing to shift into 1st when moving off, however the performance surprised me once the revs climbed you really feel the turbo push the car on. MPG is great too, I was worried that we’d struggle hit the economy numbers listed but the engine is great for that too. The car has a number of hidden features, such as quiet mode which disables the rear sound system if you have children that might have fallen asleep, and also informing you when the car in front moves off in queuing traffic. Overall we’re very happy with it, and the servicing costs are pretty affordable too!
Soo I recently got this exact car in the electric blue "22. Now am not tryna bum it 🍑. But genuinely one of the best cars i've ever driven, looks class, interior feels solid & got so many compliments from strangers!
Thanks for the review. The Ceed ticks a lot of boxes and especially as the car is for 'er indoors, who must have a manual gear box. Looks really nice in the GT spec which reminds me a bit of the old XR3i. With the price and warranty of 7 years it's great value for money.
just bought our 18 year old son a brand new one for his birthday. 1.5t non hybrid dct7 wow it's amazing and gives 50 mpg tank to tank. great car at a great price with 7 years peace of mind thrown in
I’ve ordered the GT line in blue after my other half ordered the new EV Niro. Coming from a Mercedes C Class to the Ceed but not worried about it being a ‘downgrade’.
I’m getting my 1.5 gt in white this week. Been waiting for a few months for it. Trading in my picanto 1.0 turbo which over 40k on it has been faultless and brilliant to drive.🥰
I've bought a top of the range version and the engine is a rocket ship, it handles superb and the brakes are very powerful. I have never driven a better hatchback and i have driven a lot of them. The led lights are superb and it has a bigger boot space than most. It comes with a seven year warranty, don't let the badge put you of it really is a brilliant car so im not bothered about the negative remarks from the lady she is obviously a badge snob
Have a luxe Ceed from 2023 with automatic transmission and 1.6 petrol engine (no turbo). That's interesting, in Kazakhstan we can't buy Ceed with manual gearbox, only AT. Managers from auto house told, that MT not producing for this 3rd generation of Ceed, but I see here, they are wrong. Thank you for review!
I have the Proceed Shooting Break in the GT line trim with thr 1.5T petrol manual. I love it. Totally agree with the comments about having to use 1st gear alot. I find you need to give it a decent amount of revs to get it off the mark. Having said that I have driven diesel and auto for years before so maybe out of practice.
We're picking ours up in the next few weeks. Really looking forward to getting it. What I really like is the fact you hardly see any other new Proceed's on the road (well I haven't since we ordered ours in March,) so they're quite unique. We went wild with the Fusion Orange. 😁
Anyone else nite the gear know slanted towards left hand drive cars. I had one of these for a few days. Whilst it was a really nice car the entertainment system was a bit poor and the gearing felt a bit mismatched.
Can't believe Kia decided to drop the GT Line S model of the Ceed, which has all toys I wouldn't buy a car without. No electric handbrake. No LED headlights. No panoramic roof. No JBL upgrade. No memory seat. You can get all these in the Proceed. Such a bad decision from Kia here as other hatch rivals offer such things.
I originally ordered a Golf Gtd in June 21. The order was pushed back several times by Volkswagen with several excuses so I had enough anf went for a Kia.
It’s not worth it for the price in my opinion. I’ve recently pulled out of an order for the GT Line version because I wasn’t 100% convinced. It doesn’t come with front parking sensors and for the money you’re paying, it should! My 2015 Corsa was £10,000 cheaper brand new, so I’d expect this to be £10,000 better and it’s not. It is a good looking car, but I’d recommend saving a bit more and getting something more luxurious.
In terms of design, interior tech and quality they are on a par if not better than ford, But when it comes to the drivetrain ford are always ahead i think.
Honestly "premium" brands need to catch up lol I had a proceed for 6 months, sold it and bought a 2023 stinger. There is something in these cars that premium brandies dont know how to do

Brings order to collection from 8-10 to 16-18 weeks. Still quicker than other manufacturer - hear... but I wouldn't know, this is my first brand new car order. Seriously? I'll never buy a KIA ever again and i'm about to buy at least three new cars, this time my money is on the competition!
The review is full of mistakes and one wonders if the ability of the journalist to review cars when they admit that they put a car in second gear to start off, a basic error that a competent driver would never make.
The thing about the GT line is inside it's basic and cheapish. No digital dash. No electronic hand brake. No auto?! Readout on temp dials is a bit washy in places. And value? Um. I'd implore anyone looking at the GT to investigate the entry ish 180 Sp Exec Merc A Class, the A3 Sport and BMW 1 series Sport. Their stronger residuals (and available discounts) make them (only) £30-£50 per month more than the GT. And that's for DSG boxes and these cars are the real deal for a few dollars more.
How has a Kia ended up a few hundred pounds less than a golf? Even The base model golf is still twice the quality Kia are Aimed at senior citizens and people who have no interest in cars just for the 7 year warranty
