  • We make a very steep decent through the clouds toward Frankfurt onboard this Lufthansa's first 747-8 (D-ABYA) - the new "Queen of the Skies". The sun creates stunning, yellowish lighting on approach which makes this wing even more stunning than usual. Definitely an enjoyable video! Hope you like it guys :)

    The 747 is the most beautiful plane ever built.

  • @ehsan83

    That wing is surely beautiful. For me even the most beautiful of all aircrafts. What caught my attention is the movement of flaps. You don't hear them moving.
    Now compare this to Airbus 380 ! When they move you feel like there is a missile getting engaged !!!
    Great video as always, Thanks for sharing :)

      I believe the A380, like the 777 and 767, has extra hydraulic pumps in, its case electric, that help the flaps much like the air driven demand pumps on the 777 and 767. I think this is the case anyway as the whine continues for a second after the flaps have stopped. And regardless of what plane, when sitting behind the wing this far will make the flaps seem silent. I do love the sound of the flaps on the 747 for sure though.

      The older 737 flaps sound like the 747 flaps. The NG flaps have a unique sound. My favorite flaps sound is the 757.

    Is that using Rolls Royce Trent 1000s like on the 787s? I never knew that 747-8s used them unless a new engine model came out with the same distinct wavy feature on the end of the main cover of the engine.

      No.. 747-8 use GEnx both these and the Rolls Royce engines are beautiful.... Airbus A380's use RR Trent 500's, I believe... 787's use the RR Trent 1000's .. very nice.... 777's use Ge90...

      @stephanwalter5431 9 лет назад

      The 8i is longer than the 400 and even the hump on top is bigger. I guess the hump is as big as a 737-800. Lufthansa has different Layouts. On three classes they have arround 360 Passangers with over 90 Business Class Seats. According to Boeing with a three class Layout arround 400 shuld be possible,

    NILADRI HALDAR This is a small Autobahn, yoiu can only do arround 75 mph there. On the other site of the airport is an open Autobahn, it is a pretty nice place because u can watch planes and see cars drive by. If traffic is low u can often see cars doing 120-150 mph.

    • @CaptainArt777
      @CaptainArt777 8 лет назад

      +StormSOld13r How did you get this? How old are you? How many cars do you know that can maintain 120 to 150 mph? I don't know of any car that can do that. Even if you use the metric system which they use over there, it is still not possible.

    • @lisdoddestraat

    • @StormSOld13r
      @StormSOld13r 8 лет назад

      +CaptainArt777 +lisdoddestraat I drive this Autobahn at least one time a week. Every car in Germany can do 80-90 Mph. Most cars can do 125 mph which is about 200kmh. 125 mph is nothing special in Germany, i would say at least 1 out of 4 cars can do it. I got an VW Golf R, it can do 156 mph pretty easy. 156 mph or 250 kmh cars are not rare. We also have cars which go over 300 kmh or 187 mph, for example some Audis, Porsche or Ferrari.

    • @CaptainArt777
      @CaptainArt777 8 лет назад

      StormSOld13r Hello Storm. I have a ton of family living through out Europe. Every one say NO Way. I don't believe any car built on a assembly line can go and maintain those speeds of 156 to 300 mph. Here in the US, our nascar race cars will only do a little better. You keep switching between mph and km. My family tells me that 100 to 120 km is about normal on the autobahn. Won't those engine's blow up if you go that fast?

    • @lisdoddestraat
      @lisdoddestraat 8 лет назад

      +CaptainArt777 we are talking about 300 Kph, not 300Mph. It's hard to believe when some one has never been to Germany, but believe me most of the cars easily do 200Kph and some cars are driving up to 300Kph

      DesertDigger1
      It's not so easy to explain:
      Luft is the German word for air.
      Hansa is a modern form of the Hanse(Schar)=flock
      The original Hanse was a very succesful trading organisation in Europe in the Middle Age( between many cities like Hamburg, Bremen, Cologne, Münster, Wismar and a lot more from the 1250s to 1669.
      The Luft Hansa(two words that time) was born as a fusion of the "Deutschen Aero Lloyd" and the "Junkers Luftverkehr AG" in 1926. So two airlines got together and formed an "air hansa". The story of the Luft Hansa ended by a forced liquidation in 1945.
      In 1953 was the launch of the new Lufthansa (one word since 1953). But its not the legal successor of the Luft Hansa. It's a complete new company and todays European biggest airline.

      +CaptainArt777 Maybe you shouldn't bother to watch it and comment on it? Some aviation enthusiasts, including myself, enjoy looking out the window of an aircraft, especially during takeoff and landing. It's interesting to watch the sequence in which the flaps are lowered, if/when speedbrakes are used, etc. Same reason people collect rocks - they enjoy it and are interested by it.

    Turkish Airlines should choose this as their next generation wide body workhorse. The A380 has too much capacity for a profit margin and the 777x's are just plain unattractive with their ugly wing folds (-9 also offers too much capacity to maintain high frequency routes which would require TK to reduce frequency)
