Hehehe, though that comment makes me want to see somebody run D&D or similar game with 'Imperial' money - all those odd denominations with wildly inconsistent exchange rates between coin values! As "Metric money" is clearly so wrong for a D&D setting when you think about it - largely coming from European history where as far as I'm aware not one of the historical currency units was very Metric like. With oddities like farthings, guineas etc that are some specific combination of pennies and shillings or sometimes fractional pennies in one coin!

Plenty of people don't seem to realize there isn't a hard line between making a solidly effective build and roleplaying a fun, interesting character. We can play the cartoon characters in our inner children's minds and then wreck house in initiative. It can be both. And how am I supposed to know how far my bow shoots if range isn't expressed in 2006 Ford Tauruses?

And thanks for sharing the worst and the most bonkers comments from your channel in 2024 - if only everyone could laugh off the comments they receive, and thank the senders with kindness as well as a smile at the ludicrousness of them!
On the bright side, as someone who hates the metric system (but acknowledges that it is by far the superior system of measurement ), and having watched each and every one of your D&D and BG3 videos at LEAST once, that person complaining about you shilling for big Metric must've rewatched the same part of your video like 50 times to have enough praise enter their ears for it to be infuriating, so that'll be great for your retention numbers.
Some of these were hilarious... some were just bizarre... I think these round-up videos are a healthy and very amusing way of responding. Your channel has swiftly become one of my favourites for DnD content... I love the approach and tone of your videos and the obvious thought you put into your builds. My problem with your channel is that just when I think I've figured out what I want to play next you drop a new video (or I discover an old one...) highlighting yet another intriguing character concept or powerful rule/mechanic interaction that sets me off in a entirely different direction... Keep up the great work Colby! Wish you a very happy and success filled New Year!

Yes! Love the DND community jumping straight in to test the limits so we know our parameters! Am I ever gonna play a build that does 300+ damage every round? Probably not. But knowing how to get there at least tells me what I’m giving up to be better at something else. Always good to make an informed decision.

OMG i spent this ENTIRE video cracking up!!! 😂 Thank you so much for sharing this and turning the pain of the internet into laughs and joy. Keep on being awesome!!! ❤❤❤
It's tempting to rant about how, given the importance of Scottish and Gaelic culture to the fantasy genre, that it's absolutely unacceptable for a RUclipsr of your stature to not know the words (and history and pronunciation) of such an important tune - just to give you something to start your 2025 list :) Thanks for being so positive and uplifting and for handling the negative comments you occasionally receive here with the attitude they deserve. Wishing you an awesome New Year!
Some of those were a trip sir. I just wanted to say that I enjoy your videos and I continue to come back because you explain what combat looks like at different levels and how all of the pieces work together. I generally play pretty simple characters by choice. But I sit at tables with optimized characters and it is good to learn how they see the pieces working. Thanks for your videos.
I'm forever grateful to you and your channel. You've changed my BG3 experience, I've been using your builds for a while now and gameplay with multiclassing is so much fun! I'm so proud of my murderous team! I class Wyll as paladin/ sorc, though, so hero boy no longer has to park in the camp 😂

I’m glad you don’t let it get to you Colby. Have been enjoying your videos since #44 (and went back and watched the previous ones). But while I'll never get to play 99% of the character ideas you put out or I have, I still love your videos because of your kindness, your vibe, your quality, and how thought provoking they are

Hey Colby, wishing you a wonderful 2025! I started watching your videos because I was joining a new campaign (with people I'd never met, wow the internet is amazing) and I wanted something that'd show I know what I'm doing. I ended up adapting the Cheese Grater Genie Warlock build you made, and have had so much fun playing them from level 2 all the way to 10. I went with Aasimar, because I figured using the Necrotic Shroud bonus damage was a fun extra way to add flavour. But on the way, I've been enjoying all of your builds, your theorycrafting, and your discussions on the myriad of ways to play this wonderful game. Thank you so much for what you do, and I can't wait to see more next year!
#8 i love using your builds in alot of the one shots I play in, #7, these builds are to do a couple things amazingly, IF the situation happens to come up, not too hard to balance for most DMs. Happy New Year and thank you for the builds! Specially the wacky ones
Thank you Colby for all of the truly enjoyable D&D (and BG3) videos you've put out here. You've given me a plethora of great character builds and ideas to try, and I actually started playing my first Bladesinger in a campaign after going over a few of the builds you've done for them. Don't let the muggles get you down, you're doing great! ;)
Ooo, I’m inspired to see how mean I can be! Here goes: You…are….the mossst aw…ffff…aw…so…awesome dnd builds maker of all time!! Darn, I just couldn’t be mean to sweet, sweet Colby.
I am SO glad to not see my comment about turning off videos about spike growth and cloud of dagger builds here. I in no way intended it to be mean, I've thoroughly enjoyed watching other videos and will continue to do so in 2025. Have a great New Year Colby!
Sorry about the disgruntled comments! I appreciate how you handle it. I saw your panel at Dragonsteel and was pleasantly surprised to see you there! Keep doing what you’re doing! 😊
It is so funny that some see your content and think “I must do that” or “I must plan for this kind of optimisation” - when questions that spring to my mind is “is there some element of this I should avoid to not dominate my dnd sessions or does some of this help me express a character more clearly”
When people think that optimizing a build has to exclude good roleplaying at the table. Making an efficient character is between sessions, roleplaying is at sessions. Do those people sit and roleplay with themselves between the sessions? Also you are amazing Colby!
Someone once told me that they didn't like the metric system because it is too complicated, then after I explained how it is actually simpler they belittled me for needing to use a simplified system...
My headcanon for #3 is because so many people comment about your smooth voice and make comments about it seeming like ASMR or being comforting to listen to you that The Algorithm started recommending you to non-gamers who use RUclips for ASMR/sleep sounds. Some 60 year old woman: "This young man has a nice voice and would be very relaxing if I had any idea what a 'Dexterity Bonus' is!"
I wish more channels could be as flippant about their comments as this was. I especially enjoyed the "sorry to see you go? hopefully you get, idk, far less angry?" to number 5
Keep doing the great job you're doing. Your builds are awesome, and I even try to use different classes to do something similar, to one of your builds. Stay true to yourself, we like you that way, and keep singing for us 😂 Happy New Year to everyone!
Hi D4, Happy New Year! I've watched your content for a while now and I must say, your videos are like a good book with a nice hot chocolate. They're super cozy, interesting and I love to see numbers go up that challenge both players and DMs how to build challenging encounters. I wish I could say I have watched every video but I can't, they are long (as they should be) and the ones that peak my interest are always in my watch later folder. It feels like I've bookmarked a chapter in a book when I'm getting through them but your content is always entertaining and I wish you all the success that comes your way! Keep making amazing videos and content, keep shining brightly and don't let the negative comments get you down! I hope this comment finds you and I hope it boosts the algorithm in your favour. Many thanks and once again, Happy New Year 🐲🏴
Yeah I definitely think you're more of a droner. And I mean that in a good way! I occasionally just listen to the video about every single class change when I'm having trouble sleeping because it's just so soothing.
There's still time! Lemme think, lemme think, uhhh.... "If only Colby still knew how to play games other than 5e so we could get a PF2e build that isn't trash"? I find his concepts to be the most interesting part and take my own inspiration on the build from there. Keep doing what you do, sir. Its appreciated

You are awesome for sharing! Oh, the close-minded hatred about the metric system hits so hard now while remembering Jimmy Carter, RIP
Happy new year and may we all learn more about the metric system in the new year 😜
I am SO glad to not see my comment about turning off videos about spike growth and cloud of dagger builds here.
I was singing along with you in the end, even I didn’t know the lyrics. Happy New Year!
Colby, you are an international treasure. Stay pure and happy new year! 🎉
(Still waiting for Flames of Phlegethos.. 😉)
When people think that optimizing a build has to exclude good roleplaying at the table. Making an efficient character is between sessions, roleplaying is at sessions. Do those people sit and roleplay with themselves between the sessions? Also you are amazing Colby!
Thank you for sharing these.
Someone once told me that they didn't like the metric system because it is too complicated, then after I explained how it is actually simpler they belittled me for needing to use a simplified system...
Love that you lean into these. 😂
Hope you and yours had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Thanks for the "yapping" and Happy New Year!
That was awesome. Definitely a good laugh.
Stormin' trolls. Your stuff rocks, Colby!
Hilarious, thanks for all your hard work in 2024 Colby, hope 2025 is good for you!
You have a happy new year too. Always fun to see the new build, I love your videos keep up the good work!
Keep doing the great job you're doing. Your builds are awesome, and I even try to use different classes to do something similar, to one of your builds.
Stay true to yourself, we like you that way, and keep singing for us 😂
Happy New Year to everyone!
Love your videos. Thanks for the great content as always!
We know Big Metric is coming for our hobby!!!
I think I fit right in with some of the NYC Crazies with this one. Uncontrollable laughter on the subway.😂
I'm glad you're able to laugh off the negative comments, there's obviously a lot more people who like and appreciate your content!
Many thanks and once again,
Happy New Year 🐲🏴
Yeah I definitely think you're more of a droner. And I mean that in a good way! I occasionally just listen to the video about every single class change when I'm having trouble sleeping because it's just so soothing.
hot damn I was not prepared for number 1, thats hilarious.
The metric system hater is crazy 😂
Happy New Year, Colby! You're too kind, and we love that about you ☺️
I love your content, and tbc there is nothing wrong with liking the metric system.
Happy new year Colby!!
There's still time!
Lemme think, lemme think, uhhh....
"If only Colby still knew how to play games other than 5e so we could get a PF2e build that isn't trash"?
(I have never played Pathfinder)
Oh btw if you see this I would love to see you explore builds on homebrew content like A5E, Nimble, or Tales of the Valiant, or other content on DnD Beyond like Illrigger!
This video made me genuinely laugh out loud and I love that
Your the BEST Colby. Thanks for sharing 🤣
"Um actually..." i usually only really listen to the "yapping". Where colby explains the idea and inspiration of a build. Usually by the breaking down lvl 5/6... i've tuned out a bit.
I find his concepts to be the most interesting part and take my own inspiration on the build from there.
Keep doing what you do, sir. Its appreciated
You make excellent content. Sharp, to the point, and on target. As for the comments, I believe there is a whole lot of people that just gotta spread the hate. I consider it a vast waste of time. Keep doing what you are doing.
Hope it's another great year for you colby. You deserve it keep up the great work.
These WEREN'T the meanest comments? wow lol
ALSO, I had no idea you got WOTC sponsorship! Congratulations man!!
