- During social isolation, there has been a massive amount of information about how to avoid getting COVID-19. You may recently have read or heard something about the disinfecting power of ultraviolet (UV) light, which we know is emitted by the sun. Henry W Lim, MD shares the facts about UV light and the danger it poses to your skin health.

Thank you ❤🙏
Good doc.
When was there a ppe shortage?
It has been available for home use for many years so not sure about your opinion on that. 😵
Very helpful
I lived in Africa ( Uganda) near equator where the sun is strong all year round and never heard of skin cancer or never seen any suspicious reaction on my skin ( except the burn of course and turning). I have few questions :
1. Are black people or other people of darker skin at risk of skin cancer due to sun exposure?
2. Does the winter or an extended lack of sun exposure make makes the skin more vulnerable to sun UV?
3. Are Sunscreen lotions really safe(harmless) or they contribute to the development of skin cancer ? How do they work ? Do they reflect the sun rays (UV rays) or absorb it ?. Thank you
Hi Nolan. Great questions. Here's some information: Skin cancer affects people of all colors, including those with darker skin tones who always tan or rarely burn. What’s more, for people of color, it’s often diagnosed too late, making it harder to treat. This includes people of African, Asian, Latino, Mediterranean, Middle Eastern and Native American descent. You can learn more at: www.skincancer.org/skin-cancer-information/skin-cancer-skin-of-color/
Sunscreen is an important part of a complete sun protection strategy. But sunscreen alone isn’t enough to keep you safe in the sun.
When used as directed, sunscreen is proven to:
Decrease your risk of skin cancers and skin precancers. Regular daily use of SPF 15 sunscreen can reduce your risk of developing squamous cell carcinoma (SCC) by about 40 percent, and lower your melanoma risk by 50 percent. www.skincancer.org/skin-cancer-prevention/sun-protection/sunscreen/
While UVA and UVB rays differ in how they affect the skin, they both do harm. Unprotected exposure to UVA and UVB damages the DNA in skin cells, producing genetic defects, or mutations, that can lead to skin cancer (as well as premature aging.) These rays can also cause eye damage, including cataracts and eyelid cancers. www.skincancer.org/risk-factors/uv-radiation/
Isnt it just heat that dries up the bacteria and kills it?
Hello Doc. First of all, Thank you sooo much! Also I have some questions.
Does ultraviolet have an impact on human hormones?
Can it kill e.g testosterone, ostrogen etc? How is the impact of UVC on the human body?
Also can I sterilize my TRT vials with UVC for safety reasons?
Would like to hear your opinion sir.
Kind Regards
I use UVC each day at home. Set up the lamps, leave the room, and turn it on. I use from 180 to 250 watts UVC. Those small UVC lamps don't deliver enough power and would take too long.
HVAC system can use UV-C light to clean air in home.
How much time required to kill viruses by uv light
And how much power required to generate a tiny uv light
I'm asking just because of the thought which came into my mind
I'm talking about uv mask which filter intaking air by tiny uv light
Love from India 🇨🇮
so uv light can destroy rna and dna but plant grows well with it 🤔
Well it sure does kill Volatiles
what a bullshit - special expertise and proper supervision - very informational ; ).
