In today's video, I explain the process of working with headhunters/recruiters, how to talk to them and the key strategies that will increase your chances of finding a new job. Have you worked with a headhunter/recruiter before? What was your experience like? Leave a comment below and let me know! :)
How do you answer when a recruiter calls you and they just ask, what you've been doing recently? Do you do the "tell me about yourself" or should you go with a couple projects you've worked on recently? Since it's a cold call, I have no idea what roles they are recruiting for and I have one set of answer for hands on roles and another set of answers for management/consulting roles.
I meant to write you---AFTER a horribly extra nervous interview back in Aug--I watched one of your videos on how to approach an interview as a consultant....this calmed my nerves & helped me hone my interview skills. I decided I would treat this like a conversation & I GOT A DREAM JOB. THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!
You should put a video together for the recruiters about how to interact with a candidate. I have spoken with several who just want your information and then disappear. No follow ups, no returned emails nor phone calls. Even if a recruiter is busy, it is common courtesy. Job hunters are having a hard enough time right now.
This gave me some very helpful bullet points. Big thanks!

Hi Linda, great video. I have basically very positive experience with headhunters. I live in Prague and the market is small. The advantage is that just a few headhunters cover the entire market.
As per my opinion, it's recruiter have to learn how to talk to the prospects. Cuz Nowadays HR people become egoistic narcissistic. They won't even bother to greet you. Dont have any kind of people skills which is a core skills for HR. Thats my take home points. I've been through 15 interviews with small scale to large corporats. Everytime i get disappointed.
In LinkedIn, they don’t really message back. I’d reached out with several recruiters through LinkedIn and no response. There’s a recruiter who I thought was very determined to help get me a job and/or even an interview. However, I haven’t heard from him and it’s been months. So what I’m trying to say it depends on the recruiter, I feel if they really are genuine people. They’ll do whatever takes. That’s just my opinion, so far I’m not having much luck with them.
Elizamar Roman it best to reply to their post on LinkedIn when they say “I’m looking for XYZ with experience in..........”. Usually they will respond back by saying “when it is a good time to call you” or whatever. Sometime they will say on their profile to send in your resume for future consideration.
@@aerialhorizonrc7827 it depends on what you're applying for. I was looking for a phlebotomy position in several hospitals. In the end, I was able to land a job without LinkedIn and recruiters.
yeah one thing i find from her videos is that everything is the candidate's fault. and the employer needs to be spoon fed everything while having all the information.
Okay but how am I going to contact them when their messages have a locked sign unless I become premium but I don't. What if there is no recruiters, can I directly contact to Director of Huma Resources after submitting an application online? For example, I have submitted an application for the Club Lounge Associate position at Sheraton Hotel Vancouver. I see the director of Human Resources but not recruiters. so should I just click connect icon and send a message on LinkedIn?
Hi Linda! As usual, your video was helpful and full of rich content! Thank you! What advice do you have for finding recruiters in the first place other than those who are posting a particular job?
In this video im going to show you how to leverage LinkedIn to reach out to HR, Recruiters, Managers, etc. You will see that i use this method myself to get interviews. So please check out the video and share it with people you know who are not having much success looking for a new job. ⬇️
“ Know what you want” What if I’m genuinely interested in two different departments, and I firmly believe that I would be a good fit for two positions? 🧐
I’ve been trying to externally search for a recruiter but I can’t seem to find any. My regular job search has lead to a dead end and I don’t know what to do next. Any advice?
Network, call up all the people you know and let them know that you need a job. Till you get the job join a gym and workout and read a lot, helps in feeling confident. Best wishes
@@Cacofonixravi that is hardly what a job hunter needs. if your resume is no good in getting interviews. just search for a new sample resume for your job field. and replace the experience and personal details with your information. and also copy paste entire job description in tiny white font at the end.
I graduated from college last year then got hired by a company through a recruiter.I was pregnant but didn’t mention it.I legally do not have to.These people allowed me to go on maternity leave then fired me a month into it saying I was incompetent. The recruiter called me to tell me the company wanted to end my contract. These recruiters are money hungry and heartless. They don’t care about you if you’re not making them money period.
Shouldn't the recruiter then contact you and tell you what went wrong in the interview especially if they were also there. Is it entitilement to expect a response ?

i have the same impression as you do
I hope you got a response
Really? Is it hard to link people up with jobs right now, or donpeople just not need your services?
This is why I don't answer their phone calls anymore.
Great point!👍 I used to call back even people we didn't hire them - common courtesy make for a nicer society right?
3:22 Start here.
The info she gives in the first 3 minutes is pretty relevant though.

Elizamar Roman did you get the job via Networking or online application?
Elizamar Hernandez try following up with that recruiter or even reaching out to a different recruiter within the same company.
I was able to land two interviews by reaching out to recruiters on LinkedIn.
Very professionally made.
What a nice way of saying, "If you don't hear back from the recruiter then it's your fault"

Right! I thought the same thing.

Bro, if you knew all that then you could just find your own job lol.
She is pretty and it makes it hard to consentrate on her message. I put headphones on and just listen to the audio. I know I'm shallow.
scan1982 😂 you’re hired
Thank you so much
