      Getting acne at 9 is super unfortunate, I thought it was bad for me cause I was the first at my school who got it when I was 12-13. The younger you are when you get acne, the worse it is because the regret overwhelms you even though 12 year old me didn't even know what acne or skincare routines are, I can't imagine getting acne when you are 9.

    Im starting accutane at 13 years old, I've been struggling with acne since I was 7, I've always had a bad Self-esteem, many people on my school would question why I had so many black heads. I've tried everything, from expensive skincare to dermatologists prescripted products, but i never got a a result that It satisfied me. A few weeks back i went to a very recommended dermatologist here in Brazil, and I got so happy when I was prescribed accutane, my mom knew I would often cry because of how bad my skin looked, and she bought me accutane. It's been 1 week since I've started taking it and some side effects I got is dry lips, flaky skin some hair loss. I really don't mind these too much, I use vaseline on my lips and it helped me a lot too. Overall I'm very happy to be given this opportunity! I can't wait for the next few months!

    I’m on day 3 of accutane! I sure wish my derm had told me at the initial appt about how accutane raises cholesterol levels because I could have worked on that for the entire first month of waiting before I could start…. (Because I already have high cholesterol). Now we got my blood work done and she says I basically need to be vegan for the entire period and if my levels go up too much I will have to stop taking the medication. I’ve been working my ass off to eat a very high fiber diet and a very low saturated/trans fat and low cholesterol diet and walk more often. Just wish she would have told me earlier. She always seems to be in a rush and not care too much about me. Also, I have heard SO many people talking about taking accutane with a fat and so I asked my doctor about that and she said, “no. If you’re anorexic or not eating much, it might not absorb entirely, but that’s not true.” I’m like um okay

      I mean you should probably ask these types of questions before starting any meditation. A lot of times doctors are running a billion miles a minute so unless YOU ask questions you won’t get answers.
      Also did you tell your doctor you had high cholesterol before you got on accutane? Idk seems kinda crazy to only blame the doctor when you can also ask questions since it’s regarding your own health.

    I'm on month 8 rn and I'll write my experience here:
    I took it in months 10mg-20mg-30mg-40mg-40mg-50mg-60mg-60mg
    1. PURGE: Usually people say their face clears by month three. I got a pretty bad purge fase and skin cleared only by month 6🥲.
    2. DRYNESS: My side effects were also pretty mild, during first months I had lip and body dryness, after that only dry lips, but often pretty bad. Also you don't have to wash your hair as often cause it just won't get oily!
    3. OTHER SIDE EFFECTS: I've never heard anyone mention this but I experienced (still do) face flushing and sweating (in the face) a lot! Any kind of temperature change or crouching down would make my temperature suddenly go up and my face beet red, it made me very insecure so I wore makeup all the time.
    4. SUN: usually it's an awful idea to go in the sun while on accutane so I always wore SPF! It's different for everybody tho. I had a surf trip on month 3, was still in my purge fase but nothing got particularly worse. So usually people stop taking the medication in the summer, but my doc said that it's quite okay if it didn't trigger anything on that surf trip.
    5. ALCOHOL: I did drink at times, sometimes more, sometimes less, but rarely (for a uni student). At first I tried avoiding fermented drinks and drank mostly gin and vodka, now I've had beers and wine too. On days that I did drink I always missed the evening dosage because on my first time drinking (new years eve) I took a pill before drinking (shampagne🤦‍♀️) and it immediately reacted in my stomach and I threw up badly. So yeah I do recommend sticking to gin and vodka cocktails rather than fermented drinks.

    • @RedRumble14
      @RedRumble14 Год назад

      @@katharsis909 yeah bro I’m also a student, and I was also thinking that I would have to go there every month, but in fact, u can just go there once, after the first 1 or 2 months and then just monitor your blood results. ( if they are ok, u don’t really have to go to clinic cuz they won’t tell you anything new). So u can just check your blood and follow the plan of taking accutaine. Then the next time u can go there at around 6 months mark.
      Myself I was also prolonging my treatment cuz was thinking about financial aspect too much, but it costed me 6 months ( In which I could have cleaned up really nicely - no amount of money worths that)
      . I would say just go there and see what happens.
      Also, I heard that sometimes they don’t put u on accutaine in free facilities cuz they are afraid of “side effects” which are usually nothing serious. Whereas in private clinic u sign some paper that frees them of responsibility in a way so they are more likely to prescribe u accutaine + they are more likely to listen to you if you say that u want that medication and not another cream or vitamins
      In where I live an appointment in a clinic costs around 10-20€ - it’s like 2 days of eating so maybe try finding that 💰

      Hi! I also had some mild acne return because it's hormonal. The best thing I did was simplify my skincare routine (which I have a video in the works for this), minimize stress (easier said than done but practicing mindfulness, light exercise, etc), and I think age had a factor in it. I'm 25 now. I am, however, about to start another round of "low dose" accutane, which should help eliminate any future acne but I do have to do it for about 12 consecutive months.

      @@kellymeng Do you mind me asking what skincare routine you used? I also sometimes see my friends with acne because I got it at an early age so right now it’s completely normal to have. Right now I use cerave hydrating facial cleanser, neutrogena light weight gel moisturizer and some sunscreen. I put on clindamyacin gel in the morning and tretnoin in the night but I don’t know if that’s working. I been doing that for 5 months idk🥲

      absolutely not accutane is a long process, its a marathon not a sprint u have to trust the process it will take a while but it’s worth it. ur doctor can perscribe u accutane that has more isotretinoin in it

    • @olhanilla
      @olhanilla 9 месяцев назад

      once you stop taking oral isotretinoin or even lower the dosage oiliness will return/ so it's not a solution to get rid of oiliness

    My doctor consulted me to have oral isotretinoin 20 MG.....so can I use The Ordinary 7% toning solution and aha/bha peeling solution once a week if I take the peels?....please tell🥺

    • @kellymeng
      @kellymeng  Год назад +4

      Hi Sana! I am not a doctor, but I am going to tell you what my doctor told me. She said that you should avoid any additional treatments when you're on Accutane since it is VERY strong already. Meaning if you use the toning solution or the peeling solution, it will do more harm than benefit. In fact, it would most likely cause a chemical burn! So please consult with your doctor.
      The only products I used during my treatment are moisturizers and an ointment such as Aquaphor or Vaseline. Everything else would be damaging to your already-thin skin.
      Good luck and when in doubt, always contact your doctor!
