Whomever is taking the video (assuming Catalina) keep doing the same stuff. Great job. Super angles, views and clips. Really loving the voiceovers and recaps!
@@FishTheLegend You're welcome. Well great job to Captain Steve too. I have been seeing the clips Steve & you send to Phil for the Morning Briefings as well. Keep up the great work!
❤ the legend. In my opinion, the captain on the legend is the best captain in California.! The captain works hard to put you on the fish, and then it’s up to you to work hard to catch them. I can’t wait to go bluefin fishing this year and get some more awesome content.
Was just out on June 26th on a overnight trip, landed 5 BFT 50-110lb, night time the 350-400 gram Riprollers were the best working knife jigs caught all mine on Siracha/Gold jigs, daytime sinker rig worked the best, landed 3 using 60lb setup with inline 2/0 circle hook and 8oz sinker.
@5:48 The second BFT I ever caught was at night and weight 60 pounds. That fish was hooked in the mouth, and foul hooked in the belly. Totally kicked my ass!
You can, but typically jigs are going to have the advantage because they can get down to the zone faster. If the school doesn't stick to the boat, it's oftentimes the first people down to the right depth that get bit. Sinker rigs will get twisted if you drop it too fast, whereas that's what night time jigs are made for.
Thank you for your response. I should have been more suspect. I was thinking about the drop shot rig.with a 16 to 20 oz sinker ? after Catching my personal best 125. Bluefin, I was one and done I had no idea they were so tough and reeling up-and-down so many time!! so I was in the gallery thinking I wonder if I could use a drop shot sinker rig 20 oz to get straight down. And I would still have the strength to fish LOL, LOL wasn't sure, so I didn't do it. That's why I'm asking now. Because I was wondering if it was straight down but I didn't wantt to get in other people's way. I'll be in shape next time. You fishermen down,There are tougher than 10 fishermen!!! .Thanks , and great fishing to you.I hope to fish with you one day...soon Great fishing to you all
Yes, we suggest just on the bottom, no assist hooks at the top since it seems like it contributes to a lot of side snags and brings the fish in sideways.
Can’t stress enough how dangerous about a flopping fish with a jig and a loose assist hook... in a hot night bite I watched as a 7/0 hook went through by buddy’s right calf like a hot knife through butter…
I dont like the top stinger hooks.....ur rite all theyll do is foul hook or worse than that its SUPER DANGEROUS for the deckhands and anybody near when it hits the deck.....9/0 to the legg?...oofff ill pass
Wonder what ur schedule is for next week ?....I need 2 spots for a 1.5 or 2 dayer.....takin my son in law.....infecting another one with the fishing disease lol.....anyways I'll call the landing....fingers crossed......somebody's gonna have some spots!! Tite lines n charp hooks 🪝 Q

Wow… we’ll have to check those out because we don’t send him anything. He is stealing our content if that’s the case.
@@FishTheLegend I don’t think there is any malice. Just sharing that the Legend is doing great putting anglers on fish
Roger that! I don’t follow him so I’m not sure what his videos are like.

Good videos, keep it coming
Thank you!

Do you have a recommended knot for connecting 100# braid to mono (30ft top shot)? Love the content…thanks for sharing your knowledge!
A royal polaris knot, or also known as an albright knot, would work in that situation.
Glad to hear you love the channel!
Fish the Legend!😁

@@aaronkelley8909 haha it happens for sure!! You think it’s a monster fish and then see it’s just foul hooked 🤣
Fish with the best.
How many hooks do you recommend? Two hooks on the bottom. You’re right you can drag the bft sideways. Ain’t. I fun for sure.
Up to you on if you want 1 large or 2 medium hooks, just personal preference. I haven’t seen a big difference between the two.
You recommend no hook on top? How about two hooks on the bottom. Is that okay?
Yep! Totally fine. We just have seen the top hook side snag or interfere with a correctly otherwise set hook that would be on the bottom.
I was on the mustang right next to you guys.

Are you suggesting just one hook for the jigs? Very informative. See you guys 9/17

Got it.
nothing wrong with school size or 60-80 lbers
Absolutely! Even 40-60 is super fun.

It happened to Steve! Has a gnarly scar from it in the back of his calf.
@@FishTheLegend Steve should get a tattoo of the hook and jig that gave him that scar
