Now is the right time. If you really want to grow your money and attain financial independence. Start investing, that's the best way to accumulate wealth. Spent my 30s and 40s investing in stock and several multifamily real estates. That’s the best I did for myself as it has consistently beaten my expectations of a return. Lately, discovered ¢rypto, and life feels better.

For this reason, It's important to have a solid support structure (financial consultant) to guide you through especially in asset picking. I operate with (Alexandra Diana Jose) a consultant who partners with a licensed wealth management firm. For the record, the experience has been the best for my finance. She made me financially stable investing through her help, now I earn on a monthly basis through her passive income strategy... So I'd advise you do get a good investment advisor for yourself. .

nahhh forget stocks but crypto especially bitcoin im keep dollar cost averaging bitcoin everytime it dips its still the best investment for the long term if you guys look at history about bitcoin its the highest return out of all asset period

How long should I hold SPY?
Is it something I can buy and forget about for a few years? Maybe occasionally buying some more stocks but largely ignoring it, say 5 years or something.

Don't look at your stocks daily. Monthly is probably healthier, you don't need to worry about daily fluctuations I think

What is spy
It’s an Exchange Traded Fund (ETF) which is simply just a basket of securities/investments that trade like a stock. The ETFs are purposefully created to track different sectors of the economy, in this case SPY is designed to track the performance of the S&P500 which is an index that tracks the performance of the 500 biggest companies in the US. By investing in SPY you pretty much own a small piece of all these companies and the ETF will mimic their performance without you owning each individual stock and also pay you a dividend whenever one of the 500 companies issue one

I used WallStreetOasis to get "stock market practice" back in 2010. They gave you 1 million fake dollars to invest.. and I had no idea what I was doing. I put it all on Netflix.

And for traditional markets look at VOO.. this will help you invest in the top percent of companies and is considered a Index.. but I wouldn't buy anything in the stocks until everything in the US cpi-wise starts going better which doesn't look like it's going to happen until the beginning of 2023 to Mid spring of 2023... trust me I have no life, all I do is look at charts all day and learn programming / code 🤣👍
Keep in mind that SPY is an index fund, holding such stock will cause you to pay management fees which is 0.09%, usually it's recommended to hold the equivalent VOO instead which has a management fees of 0.03% a year. Not a financial advice.

You need to be an American first, then you can learn to invest. If you are born in other undeveloped country, you can barely eat enough, and you may die at 7 years old.

I will choose lump sum if my investment skills are good. I could make 25% or more annual return easily!
I have heard the Panda Master story many times. That is why so many bankers, software engineers could not retire early!
Nobody makes 25% returns easy. They can do it 2~3 years not in a long term. Buffet makes 20% annually. Hedge funds avg return is below 10% Thinking that you can do better, might be too much of a self confidence.
