At night, try the char siew wanton noodles from the stall beside the Yoon Kee chicken taugeh stall. I prefer that stall over the one you had for breakfast. There are a few char kway teow stalls operating in the morning and at night. Those that are open in the morning to lunch will be closed for the evening and vice versa. Try the char kway teow there.
That fish dish was pretty unique, never had that before. Melissa is the curry lover at our household. I use to eat fish eyes as gummy bears when I was young 🤣

I'm from Ipoh, and we just call it dessert street as well hahaha. Ya and Tong Sui Kai is just mean dessert street in cantonese (to be accurate tong sui literally means sweet soup/water)
You are right. It does seem to be overshadowed, although bet that will change. Ipoh itself is also a beautiful and colorful place with the architecture, street art and surrounding landscape. We also think Malaysia is full of food capitals. Loved the food in Kuala Terengganu and Kota Bharu too
Go to gluttons corner food court at ipoh garden, behind the public bank,abt 5 mins from the stadium's food court, and try the dry shrimp popiah.(spring rolls) Delicious!!! Use to pack abt 10pcs to take back to kl. They have a few varieties,but the dried shrimp one is the champ. Cheers!!

Ipoh has really got lots to offer for foodies! and yes agree the Ipoh's Tauge is the best!! and served with steamed chicken, we have tried couple times here in Malay restaurant but wanna try it at the original town!

To be honest Ipoh are also food capital but overshadowed by Penang since not many tourist never take the chance to stop by and stay in Ipoh.
