I thought "the Badlands" were near Bajor and Kardassia where the Maquis hid out? That view with the tornado-like structures looked like the scenes from the DS9 episode where Ezri rescues Worf.
I wonder if the absence of the Discovery's bridge crew this season is a cost savings measure? It's too bad they didn't keep them on hand for the whole final season!
I think since Book did help out on finding the location of last clue, he's gonna tke it upon himself again, because of his emotional feelings for Mol. Hopefully he learned his mistake from last season. And i also hope it doesn't end similarly to the tng episode the chase, it would be disappointing, if it was...
Yeah, I was a little worried that he might do that again He already proved that he can make things right after what happened last time I hope he won't mess this up,.
We learned more about the Breen in Discovery than in DS9. And Rayner is becoming more interesting character, I hope after this show is over, he'll make guest appearances in Star Trek Academy. Also, is not just Saru, President Rillak is also absent, I thought she'll be present in this episode. Not only them, Detmer and Owosekun are still absent, I'm starting wonder if Emily Coutts and Oyin Oladejo have left the show after episode four.
Are we forgetting that there are no dilithium mines besides the secret one the federation found last season and therefore the breed wouldn’t have much to use warping fast distances 🤣
I was appalled in TNG's "Journey's End" when Beverly said the Traveler was from Tau Ceti, when both "Where No One Has Gone Before: and "Remember Me" BOTH said he was from Tau Alpha C - Notable difference.
No bridge crew again? Well, I guess we can now say with 3 eps left, they did not flesh out the bridge crew from past seasons. Such a shame, cos the characters they never focus on were my favourite.
I just finished watching and at the end everyone was checking in with their department she even asked “commander Ashe” if she was ready. The whole time I was like “who are these people?”
9:23 Just Saru huh? No man. WHAT IS GOING ON? Where is the crew? What is going on or went on behind the scenes? Every time they try to pass off an extra as “oh they’ve been here” it makes me think of Commander McDuff from TNGs Conundrum. The episode was fine. It scratched my Trek itch for the week. Reno is probably one of the freshest breaths of air on the show. They’re doing the love story very well with Moll and Lok. Commander Naan is probably the worst security officer ever. Nice to see Culbert could hold his own with a scrappy chick that just handed 3 trained security officer their lunch.
Book is a ridiculous character that only has one jacket that shouldn’t be walking around a starship who between scenes has nothing to do lol ALSO should the Breen be entering federation space without permission, isn’t that an act of war ? And how would they know the location of fed HQ
No because no one has ever known what "political correctness" means except those who resent having been confronted for being a-holes. You seem to know, though.
Yep, The Seven of Nine reference proves the writers don't understand basic Star Trek timelines, 900 years later, oh yeah the library is defo still floating around.
Well, Tahal underwent an interesting transformation. That name appeared on Star Trek before. Last time, Tahal was one of the gods in the Voyager episode „Blink of an Eye“, with Daniel Dae Kim. They shouldn’t have come up with a Betazoid called Marina. There was a taste of breaking the 4th wall to that name. Besides, they turned Marina into a T-Rex. 🤣
They have laid out the conclusion of this story arc in this episode; we now know why they just didn't just shoot Moll for her sadistic solipsism. Plus "The Chase" has begun with the Breen now searching for the Progenitor technology as well as the Federation, just like before in the TNG episode of the same name.
Does anybody notice that the first officer of discovery is highly antagonistic towards the brain and thinks he is highly antagonistic towards the Breen and things he knows a better way. Kind of reminds me of a first officer of a certain Starship vessel that wanted to use a Vulcan hello with the Klingons. But the current captain of discovery will have nothing to do with that. So will the first officer of Discovery have to mutiny to get his b r e e n hello?
Star Trek Discovery was clearly never meant for us older Trekers. From the beginning with inexplicably advanced star ship (supposedly prior to TOS timeline) to radically morphed Klingons to some previously (mysteriously kept secret , long lost sister of Spock?!?) Was all just too much! I'm enjoying Star Trek SNW way more and its no wonder why they will never bring up any STD stuff ever again. Good bye Discovery and don't let the door hit you on the way out!

I like Rayner but was surprised he was all in to start a war with the Breen. It's an average season so far for me - I don't find Lok and Mal that great as bad guys. Everyone seems to stop conflict by counteracting it by extreme niceness.
Detmer and Owo are piloting the ISS Enterprise toward Federation HQ. Given how badly damaged that ship is, it might take them a while to get there. Nilsson transferred to the USS Voyager, offscreen. Bryce transferred off Discovery a few seasons ago. Airiam is as dead as Mirror Lorca. Detmer, Owo, Bryce and Airiam are all in the time travel episode Mirrors.
Star Trek intelligence is a joke after all these years no one has infiltrated the Bremen society and can tell us what they look like or the physiology. Give me a break.
This is the last season of Discovery and there's one filler epsiode after the other. No one cares about Moll and L'ak. No one. I don't wanna know about emotional shit anymore, bc I don't effing care. And most certainly not about the love story of these super uninteresting people. But given the status of Discovery among Trekkies, it's actually the ending we expected: boring, unnecessary exposition to canon that no one wanted to be resolved in Discovery and the emotions. All about the emotions and the feelings and love and grief and loss and hope and desperation and anger and what not..... This is just a sh*t show and I honestly wish they would have done better. Discovery has been a mixed bag but they would have deserved a better ending, not this sideshow secondary plot.

THIS show can make any alien it wants, free and clear in the future. Instead it decides to ruin existing aliens, constantly. AND THEY WONDER WHY WE HATE IT!?
With what we knew about the Breen, there was not much to ruin. And given the popularity of Strange New Worlds, with its recycled plots, and Lower Decks, which is almost entirely built on Easter eggs and nostalgia, I could bet my last dollar that you crybabies would have complained if Discovery didn't use known alien species...
I find this type of storytelling very predictable. Give people what they want and it destroys the show. It was nice to see all to the images. 😊 As far as the "refrigeration unit," it turns out to just be cold air behind a forcefield. Did they really have to find an 800 year old cold air blower? What's with using all of this 800 year old stuff? That's like us using something from around 1200 AD. It's not very believable. New rule, no more recycling material from 800 years ago ever again in this time period. It is quite silly trying to analyze 😊things.
Star Trek just isn't what it used to be. These "Pro Genitors" are ridiculous....... The plot of the entire season is that a single race has filled the entire galaxy with life. And of course they used “technology” to do this. So this race searched billions of star systems (which is also unrealistic) and then started creating completely new life everywhere instead of colonizing these empty planets. These screenwriters must all be on drugs and alcohol to come up with this garbage. This sounds so stupid and unrealistic that it is extremely stupid even for the new Star Trek. The new Star Trek is known for its unnecessary crap that doesn't fit the story and for stories that make no sense or are simply ridiculous. A race of moths that cannot see in the dark without technology, etc.... The intention behind these series is clear to see.
I wonder where you were during the last 35 years or so, because the "Progenitors" and their seeding of humanoid life everywhere in the galaxy has been "canon" since Star Trek: The Next Generation (episode: "The Chase"). What you call "new" Star Trek is classic Star Trek.

Correct
Your right
Doug Jones said he was off doing promotions for Hocus Pocus 2 during the middle of filming for season 5 so he couldn't be in the middle episodes.
This episode so far for me is the best one so far, for the reasons you stated, in that it was interesting, tense and compelling. Great review
I wonder if the absence of the Discovery's bridge crew this season is a cost savings measure? It's too bad they didn't keep them on hand for the whole final season!
At least they sent camel-toe-face alien-guy away to be ambassador to something. His bizarre sashay and high heel shoes were aesthetically abominable.
It felt like a long episode, but in a good way 😊
Loved every second of it. ❤

I’m all for suspension of belief in sci-fi… but keeping Moll and L’ak TOGETHER in sickbay is really pushing it 🙃

They all have outside projects. And no, you haven’t seen the last of Emily and Oyin.
Great review, Nick. Thank you. Spock's Breen and L'aak and Load.
The ship that caught Moll and L'ak looks like someone asked AI to make a spaceship, but accidentally fed Battlestar Galactica into the AI....
The Library...reference to Memory Alpha???
This show really walks the razors' edge between bad to worse.
Are we forgetting that there are no dilithium mines besides the secret one the federation found last season and therefore the breed wouldn’t have much to use warping fast distances 🤣
Doug Jones was off promoting Hocus Pocus 2 at the time which is why he's absent in a few episodes.
The Breen had the BIGGEST ship i think i've ever seen in star trek tho, wow
There where a couple of big romulan ones in the movies. The romulan mining ship from the future and the ship Picards clone commanded
A Borg cube might be bigger
" Black Alert " lol
Thanks
Doug Jones clarified that he’s missing from a large part of the season due to commitments to Hocus Pocus 2.
So even he stopped caring about the show.
