  • SURPRISE! Just 9 days after the Economy 2.0 Patch, Colossal Order has released the Patch 1.1.6f1, which they are calling "Detailer's Patch #1". And if you've been hoping for more assets and improve functionality, you're in luck - this patch has it in spades!
    The patch contains 8 new zonable roundabouts with decorations, the ability to place trees of different ages, a vanilla surface tool, eight new service buildings (small water tower, small medical clinic, urban fire station, three new education buildings, two new police stations, a new small post office, give new parks, six new parking lots, new train stations, elevated subway / metro) , and four new vehicles.
    A number of bugs are also fixed, including the infamous office bug. So settle in while we quickly go over the changes that the patch brings. Enjoy!

      It's not finished until the asset editor is finished. Doesn't matter how "good" anything else is. The asset editor was supposed to be part of the game, it still isn't. Not coming back until it is. Vanilla content is lame.
      It's STILL not competitive with CS1 in that respect.

      @@Ter9393 The way they launched the game was definitely bad, but in my opinion, it’s really the publisher's job to make sure the game is ready for release before they release it. Of course, CO made a lot of mistakes too, but that doesn’t mean they can’t redeem themselves. If they let players be actively involved in the future development of the game (like OSRS), I think they could turn this rock into a real gem.

      This always comes up with Minecraft updates and the mob votes. Because you get the community picking one of three things you are always gonna have a large amount of people mad they didn't get what they thought was best. I've always thought this was the way to go. Just release the update you have, don't overpromise, don't wind people up with ideas of what could've been, just do the update.
      While the whole economy update was happening, i was thinking 'Ok, they're focused on the game logic and progression, but not everyone at a game dev studio does everything, what are their 3d modelers, etc doing??' Well, now we know!

    I think the crossing behind the stairs of the subway station is intentional. The station close to my house looks like that. You don't want the stairs to be blocked by a crowd, waiting for a green light, so if the pavement under the platform is narrow, you either place the crossing further away or behind the stairs.

    Awesome, the surface thing was something I wanted ever since S:C came out. The only really good feature in Cities XL.
    Also very happy about small services. With the new tile costs it's much harder to get service coverage without adding lots of density very early and it felt like it really restricted the ways you can design cities.

  • @stenmartens7179
    @stenmartens7179 10 дней назад +5

    i think this was desperately needed for the economy 2.0 update. it really has you min-maxing your services which i think is quite great as it forces you to think and plan ahead. but that was very difficult since especially healthcare is insanely pricey early-game and the service budgets dont scale the building's efficiency linearly so actually having smaller and cheaper options is a godsend!
    I really hope they add a ui element to show employees too in the future, they're the biggest expense most of the time and there's no way to know that right now (apart from just knowing how many employees any given building requires!)

  • @Greybell

    i like that they added a popular detailing tool (the custom surfacing) to the vanilla game for free. I'm not planning to go back to the game yet but this is pretty promising and i hope they keep this momentum for future updates. Also the canopy parking lot looks like it could fit next to offices or schools. They look "corporate" to me.

    Canopy parking lots are all over Arizona, keeps cars cooler while shopping. With Solar on top of them we use them in Colorado too -- they are an easy way to add solar, though ours are on poles and don't have walls. They are tilted south to improve solar in winter and provide snow run off control (they also capture the water and use it for the landscaping).

    Canopy parking lot is exactly what is behind late 70s ranch condos sharing walls. The lot is in back of the condo building. The condo has a tiny backyard with a privacy fence, sidewalk between the fence and the canopy parking. Canopy side is facing the back of the condos. There can even be another condo building on the opposite side, and I’ve literally seen this exact lot where canopy was only on one side.
