- This week's study is called Sh’lah L’kha (שְׁלַח-לְךָ) - Hebrew for “send”, or “send for yourself”… it is the 37th weekly Torah portion (פָּרָשָׁה, parashah) in the annual cycle of Torah readings and it covers Numbers 13:1-15:41. The parasha tells the story of the twelve spies sent to assess the promised land, the commandments about offerings, the story of the Sabbath violator, and the commandment of the fringes (צִיצִת, tzitzit) at the end of the parashah.

Shalom 🙏. I really love this Torah portion. Was so interesting to know about Job and the deeper story of the spies. And is helpful to always be mindful of our Father's ways, and to keep them. For they are good , and for our good ! I also want to give a testimony that Father healed my degenerating disc in my lower back on Pentecost day! Such a good teaching. In all my reading of Numbers, I had missed that Hoshea was renamed Joshua. Plus your comments on trees in the land was interesting. Often when I meet people I associate them with trees. Are they a strong tree or a fruitful tree or a delicate tree? Plus protection of the land based on if Job was alive. This teaching give me much to meditate on today. The Lord and His Spirit so want to bless us. Bless us in thoughts and in material ways. Thank You Rabbi Isaac

When you came to the part about how “the fearful” missed the blessings from the prayer meeting you had in Hebron during your trip: sir, I know by my own experience about that sort of thing! We can’t worry about the possibility of death when we have an opportunity to worship with our brothers & sisters in nations that have no interest in our God. We always going to miss out a huge blessing if we do. As for me, I’m not in the business of missing any of God’s blessings if all possible! Remember the Berlin Wall in Germany? On the other side “the communist side” there were a remnant of believers were there, and I had the unique honor to meet with them. Unlike the rest of my group who were “the fearful.” I don’t have time to worry about being killed for my faith in Yeshua. I have to die to see Him anyway, so being killed for his sake is a perk!
But if I am not Jew....what I should do...if I'm not feeling as Christian now...I was for all my life upto now.

You add a lot of commentary, side notes that scripture does not say. Ie - Kaleb willing to draw his sword if fruit wasn’t obtained to take back etc... I wonder where do you get this type of info, what is the source so I can check if out? I’m new to your channel so I’m already wondering in this teaching alone where you get what you speak in the Spies going into the land? Not criticism - but I keep wondering as this teaching progresses where is he getting this from? Please if you have time to answer. Thanks 😀

@@AssemblyofCalledOutBelievers thank you for your reply. It is interesting, but I like scripture only. Otherwise I forget what is in the Bible and what men say. I don’t want to mix myself up with side notes to what God actually is telling us.
How does one atone for breaking the Sabbath?
Shalom sister Angie… we have all probably felt like we didn’t keep Shabbat perfect or perfectly holy at one time or another and sought to make atonement. Wanting to make up for a mistake is a good thing. After all, mistakes, like everything else in the world, present crossroads in life- learning from our mistakes we can choose to get back on the right path (called “Return”) as serious regret is the first component of teshuvah, repentance.
In the Jewish tradition, repentance is called teshuvah , a Hebrew word translated as “returning.” One of the Hebrew words for sin is chet, which in Hebrew means “to go astray.” Thus the idea of repentance in Jewish thought is a return to the path of righteousness.
There are two categories of sin in Jewish thought:
1. Sins against God: Ritual infractions, such as breaking the Sabbath or eating non-kosher food.
2. Sins against other people: Acts such as theft or slander.
According to Jewish tradition, only sins against God can be atoned for through confession, regret and promising not to repeat the action. Sins against other people can be atoned for only once the wrong has been made right - restitution has been paid for a financial crime, for example, and forgiveness received from the victim.
To further atone for a sin against God one used to also bring an offering… and in our day this can equate to a free-will offering or giving charity (Giving some extra charity is always a good thing to do after a messup of this sort. Giving charity is like bringing a sacrifice: you give away something precious to you, taking with it those things you don’t want to be part of.)
Now look at the Positive: You have now taken an incident where Shabbat was weakened, and created a reality where it is actually strengthened. And why did all this happen? Because of an incident that was originally a failure. But now, that incident becomes a positive force in your life. It’s because it happened that your commitment to Shabbat is actually stronger. And most likely, your Shabbat will be all the more beautiful. Many blessings to you in your Shabbat observance… Remembering to keep in Holy (Ex. 20:8) and Guarding it from all things worldly and common!
Blessed is the Lord God of Israel,
For He has visited and redeemed His people,
69And has raised up a horn of salvation for us
In the house of His servant David,
70As He spoke by the mouth of His holy prophets,
Who have been since the world began,
71That we should be saved from our enemies
And from the hand of all who hate us,
72To perform the mercy promised to our fathers
And to remember His holy covenant,
73The oath which He swore to our father Abraham:
74To grant us that we,
Being delivered from the hand of our enemies,
Might serve Him without fear,
75In holiness and righteousness before Him all the days of our life.
76“And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest;
For you will go before the face of the Lord to prepare His ways,
77To give knowledge of salvation to His people
By the remission of their sins,
78Through the tender mercy of our God,
With which the [j]Dayspring from on high [k]has visited us;
79To give light to those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death,
To guide our feet into the way of peace.”
Are the aramaic targums just a commentary? I read in Deut 22 in the Targum "Neither fringed robes (tzitzit) nor tephillun which are the ornaments of a man shall be upon a woman."
Yes in the 1st century they did not require women to wear the the tzitzit so add so as to not encumber her In addition to all her household duties and rearing of children... But that doesn't mean that sincere women who desire to wear tzitzit today should not or cannot do it... It is just not the common standard in Israel.

The Day of the Lord
10But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements will melt with fervent heat; both the earth and the works that are in it will be [d]burned up. 11Therefore, since all these things will be dissolved, what manner of persons ought you to be in holy conduct and godliness, 12looking for and hastening the coming of the day of God, because of which the heavens will be dissolved, being on fire, and the elements will melt with fervent heat? 13Nevertheless we, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth in which righteousness dwells.
Be Steadfast
14Therefore, beloved, looking forward to these things, be diligent to be found by Him in peace, without spot and blameless; 15and consider that the longsuffering of our Lord is salvation-as also our beloved brother Paul, according to the wisdom given to him, has written to you, 16as also in all his epistles, speaking in them of these things, in which are some things hard to understand, which untaught and unstable people twist to their own destruction, as they do also the rest of the Scriptures.
17You therefore, beloved, since you know this beforehand, beware lest you also fall from your own steadfastness, being led away with the error of the wicked; 18but grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
To Him be the glory both now and forever. Amen.
