Erki Nool was a great decathlete. I enjoyed watching him perform. But the title above is misleading. Since I know only two decathletes have ever exceeded 9000 points (Roman Seberle and Ashton Eaton), it made me wonder why I had never heard of Erki's stunning performance. Anyway, he is in the pantheon of decathletes, even if he never managed 9000 points in a single decathlon.
This video is a montage of the best performances of Erki Nool. And the sum would be 9143.

To anyone hating him or being mean. Have you won a gold medal in a decathlon? In the Olympics? If yes, did you beat his final result? If no to any of these questions then you have no right to be rude. Most people can't even dream of doing what Mr. Nool has done, he won a gold medal in the Olympics and is a successful politician for the Estonians. They are lucky to have him :)

The exceptions are the combined events like heptathlon and decathlon. Here, the total score may be accepted even though some of the results had a tail wind of more than 2.0 m/s. The maximum limit is 4.0 m/s for any one event, but 2.0 m/s on average across all applicable disciplines.
@trickygoose2 I think Daley Thompson's bests add up to something like 9300 as well.
Exactly, if we sum best performances of Roman Šebrle together, we get 9313 points and Tomáš Dvořák 9265 points. Where is the Erki now hm?:)
what about the long jump? The IAAF lists Nool's personal best with 8,10m. Was this 8,22m-attempt perhaps wind aided?
This is a compilation of various performances from different decathlons. Put together in one decathlon they would make a world record but there are quite a few decathletes who would break the owrld record if you put all their best performances together.
Dan O'Brian's bests are together over 9500.

@Ganjamilk don't say shit about milenium olympic winner. only 1 person won year 2000 olympic medal of decathlon.
@cancan220 And Dan O'Brian beat Clay, Šebrle and Dvorak. Sum of his personal bests is 9572. Mike Smith is 2nd best with 9362.
