That is the most amazing run for somebody with his fast twitch ratio. He had to have a ton of heart to pull out a time like that! Much respect to Roman Sebrle.
this a freakin' MILESTONE: 9026 pts! Eaton may be one of the best pure runners in the Decathlon, but until he dials in his throws I think this gem will stay unbroken
It's so great to see all decathlete's have their own speciatality. Sebrle has good throwing capabilities (70m javelin and 15.50m shot) while Eaton has much better sprint and long jump
What I've noticed is that this whole decathlon over the 2 days occurs during only the daylight hour, unlike at a world championships or Olympics where the last 2 events of each day are held at night. That means even though Eaton scored higher, what it really means is he had a longer rest before the 400m, Javelin and 1500m.
That is considered as a disadvantage by most athletes: in a championship you lose the flow, you have to warmup from scratch for every event which costs more energy, you have to compete in an empty stadium because some events are too early or between sessions, you finish day 1 at 11pm and have to be at the stadium again at 8 am which gives you no time to cool down, eat, have a massage, sleep, have breakfast... That's why most of the decathlon world records have not been set in a major championship even though the athletes are at their very best then.
The Decathlon WR is back where it belongs! Held by an AMERICAN, producer of the finest athletes in the WORLD! But kudos to Sebrle, he was/is a GREAT Decathlete.
@encanto0 V jednom televizním dokumentu se k tomuhle okamžiku Dvořák i Šebrle vyjadřujou a tam oba tvrdí, že se takhle hecovali. Dělali to i na trénincích. Závody nevíjimaje.
Tbh, Sebrle is more allround, way better throws but the throws dont give that many points. Ahston eaton is a insane athlete to but less allround then Sebrle imo. 110mh, long jump, high jump and pole vault give an insane amount. impossible to achieve 1000 points with the javelin. I think the points arent fair at all. 70m for a decathlete is insane and gives around 890 points ( there are barely any decathletes that throw 70m ) almost everyone got their hurdle time under 14,50s but thats already 911 points.
I agree, if it wasn't for that insane 45 seconds in the 400m then Eaton wouldn't have broken his own record in Beijing 2015. Roman Sebrle is more comparable to Kevin Mayer.
And someone will eventually be better than him. But the recognition of being first will still be seen as a major event in the progression of the record in this sport.
Only two men has surpassed the 9000 pt barrier, and both are great athletes, but records are made to be broken. No one ask how Sebrle broke the previous record, as if it would have mattered to most, just that he had the record. If someone wants to minimize Eaton's achievement, in breaking this record, it will have no barring on the greatness of his achievement.
Roman Sebrle record stood for 11 years but is was only a matter of time before Aston Eaton broke this record. Now the record is 9039 and the only one that will break it, in the near future, is Ashton Eaton himself.
@@prostechlapec9247 All records are made to be broken, and yes Ashton Eaton was the first to break his own record, but he no longer holds that record. Maybe one day Kevin Mayer will get his Olympic gold medal, but until then, his career does not measure up to Ashton Eaton.
Sebrle is a great person and fine athlete, but his best days are far behind him. He hasn't even managed the Olympic A standard this year Dvorak was great too, but America still has the best record for producing Decathlete. If it's all about population, why hasn't China or India produced a great one yet?
I wouldn't really call those his specialization...especially since Sebrle's LJ was worth more points than his throws and was only 12 cm less than Eaton's. I think the bigger thing is how good Eaton is at the running events--it makes up for his awful throwing. (So does Curtis Beach being a rabbit on the 1500). Both great athletes though.
Probably not in your lifetime...you are aware that no one is within 500 points of Eaton's score and no other than an American has scored over 8,800 points since 2004. Eaton will take this record to unparalleled heights...if this deca had taken place in warm weather, I'd but he'd have score at least 100-150 more points as he wasn't close to his 400/110HH PRs. And he has great upside in the throwing events
1. Ashton Eaton will win the world championship this year 2. Ashton Eaton is not Brian Clay 3. KReatoR9- I'll comeback when he breaks the record, if you will then step in front of a bus. By the way, are you married to Roman Sebrle?
Riiight cuz everyone knows the Chinese, the world's second largest economy, everyone is starving...and India as only three times our population but not INDIAN decathlete who can score over 8,000 points...
I love how the happy brotherhood spirit of the decathlon.
No other track event brings this out as much.
Even if the record is broken, Sebrle is still the first person in history to get over 9000. Being the first is something no one can take away.
German commentary in combined events !
An example of one of the best athletes of all time. To be able to compete like him in all those events is simply amazing. congrats.
That is the most amazing run for somebody with his fast twitch ratio. He had to have a ton of heart to pull out a time like that! Much respect to Roman Sebrle.
Do you meet combined tour events ?
this a freakin' MILESTONE: 9026 pts! Eaton may be one of the best pure runners in the Decathlon, but until he dials in his throws I think this gem will stay unbroken
I love how he is all smiles no matter what he does
He looks so happy in the end. Pure bliss.
Roman Šebrle is the best Dacathloner in world history
It's so great to see all decathlete's have their own speciatality. Sebrle has good throwing capabilities (70m javelin and 15.50m shot) while Eaton has much better sprint and long jump
Roman's long jump is amazing
Yes - that was 1 year ago, now it´s done.

@psrpete
Let´s see - two years ago Brian Clay also talked a lot about the World Record ...
Tbh, Sebrle is more allround, way better throws but the throws dont give that many points. Ahston eaton is a insane athlete to but less allround then Sebrle imo.

Ashton Eaton > Mayer.
@@Watkinsstudio Well not by points tho.
points are compared to actual world record in the discipline, that's why 1500 points are so low
Šéba je KING!!!!
And someone will eventually be better than him. But the recognition of being first will still be seen as a major event in the progression of the record in this sport.
Роман Шебрле ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
But still it's amazing it tooks 11 years to break Roman's record that means something!!... but of course congratulation Ashton :-)
Is there a similar video clip on Eaton's record? All I can find is 1500-metre race.
trop fan
I think it is still diferent in how many people live in USA and Czech Republic, and we had 2 WR holders in row
still points and times for each discipline, but otherwise it's perfect, Roman Šebrle(a Tomáš DvoŘák) is perfeck.
Perfekte Tempovorlage von Atilla Zsivóczky!
Who and what is his top score?
how much on the javelin??
Is that the Dark knight theme at 4:42?

What was that you were saying?
Good call.
@throweraustria Brian Clay came pretty close despite some shitty performances in the 1500, but this record is incredible.
There´s a phone ringing at 3:17
Nokia
noone will ever break this

False

It's OVER NINE THOUSAND !
2012 olympic dec:
1- Trey Hardee
2- Ashton Eaton
3- Bryan Clay
Joke
Done!
Yep, you do that.
All eyes on Eugene right now then
Yeah, I'll hold my breath for the next 20 years...lol
He already broke it by 13 pts !!!!!!
2:55 day 2 !
1:07 :DD
And so he did.

He Just Did
8:14 what is his score...OVER NINE THOUSAND!
Have Hammer Throw ?
@prspete said Eaton WILL break this record, not that he HAS.
epic
once he learns to throw hell yeah
The best decathletes in history are mostly American...
look at his crazy face at 8:14 :)
A nebyl to Dvořák kdo si začal už před lety začal? Já to tak alespoň slyšela...
But today he didnt go over Roman's olympic record!
Šéba FTW!:D

kevin mayer next weekend, the first one over 9100...
No , Ashton Eaton break Heptathlon world record , not decathlon !
Not anymore..
roman is the best! eaton.... no
sad thing is Ashton Eaton did it with weaker throws.
rightbackatcha, we'll see who's right in 2032, when we're both too old to give a shit..
And that's a nice sentiment, but Ashton Eaton is simply better...
thats one strong little motharfackar
World Record no more
hmmmmm
1. Ashton Eaton will win the world championship this year
2. Ashton Eaton is not Brian Clay
3. KReatoR9- I'll comeback when he breaks the record, if you will then step in front of a bus.

Ha! Ashton did it today. 9039 points
Ashton Eaton broke the record in Oregon, US... Let's see him do that outside the US, where they actually test for PEDs...
Well...9045 points is Beijing. So...
9026 points actually still should be kept as the record as it is the best achievment made by a man.
Adam Sebastian Helcelet will break Ashton Eaton...
*sigh* There's no point arguing with you. You'll just spout the same thing over and over. Just you wait. Within next two decades. That is all.
Oh my poor God, these Americans supporting Eaton are sooo annoying, please pay respect to this man, he was a record holder too.
Ashton Eaton is the best.
Riiight cuz everyone knows the Chinese, the world's second largest economy, everyone is starving...and India as only three times our population but not INDIAN decathlete who can score over 8,000 points...
New milestone: 9039 courtesy of Ashton Eaton.
and it was broken lol
@psrpete Ashton Eaton is not good at throwing. That´s why he is best at the indoor hephtatlon. I don´t think he will break the deacthlon wr.
Eaton broke the decathlon record.
and who cares ????
Eaton broke his record.
Šebrle je chudák,to si vážně myslí,že něco dokáže tím,že bude urážet Dvořáka ?
well ashton eaton just broke it at the olympic trials. BOOOM!!!
Ashton Eaton has it now go USA!!!!!
Ashton Eaton will break this record
