I work in Radio, and I write commercials. Here recently, I had one script and I was hitting the writing wall hard. I figured... "Lets see what this A.I. Stuff can do" Pasted what I had of my script in, and said "Write me a 30 second ad" (or something to that extent.) and I'll danged... I put a little polish on what it gave me, and it worked! Not sure what I think of this new way of creating. But in a pinch, it sure was handy!! ...or is that what the A.I. want's us to think??? All I know, I felt the reminder that the end of the line for my career may be on the horizon.

Having a live band on a stage in a bar is still a good selling point. This still requires some actual live humans to be on that stage. Yeah, the music they play may be composed by AI, but they still have to play it and have that music appeal to an audience.
Having said that, music has been eating it's own tail for decades. First came the cold speculation, then the formulaic, then the DJ/MC people who just rearrange/mix the music of real artists/musicians - not really creating something new themselves and I guess the next step is having nonstop AI running on the radio stations regurgitating an endless mind-numbing noise. The new version of wall to wall Tin Pan Alley, if you will. I guess a slew of "monkeys" can write sonnets. ;)
The music world is a pendulum though, so eventually it will swing back and real music will have a renaissance. It has swung like that before. Just look at the unplugged period of the 90's. That was a renaissance.
I see the same thing happening with tv and movies. A lot of streaming sevices showing only AI generated movies and TV-shows en masse. No human hands involved in the creative processes only in the servicing and maintenance of the hardware.

I don't think that AI will ever replace real musicians, especially in a live setting. What I find more disturbing is that, with auto-tune and digital sampling, you can "make" music, whether you're talented or not, and that is a current trend which may mean trouble for studio musicians.

@@owenlattin4185 You can't like something by opening your mind up. It don't work that way. Back in the day when you heard a guitar, drums, keyboard just for a couple seconds played on the radio you knew if you liked it right way. Same with rap with the 808 & a few barrs. If it were easy to make good music everyone would be. The challenge is to write a simple riff that's like The Immigrant Song. Good drummer will carry a simple riff & the song will write itself. AC/DC used the same chords & created the greatest music to this day. Great Van Fleet is one of the few bands today that can create good music.

The things that make music good are the same things that make us human. Like emotion soul and MISTAKES. While you could argue that Stock Aitken and Waterman, milli vanilli and Boney M possessed none of these attributes, AI only serves to make this process faster and less human. Given the propensity of youth to accept the shit that record companies produce, I fear that AI can indeed mean the end of meaningful music.😢

This is interesting. If you are able to submit your own lyrics, then this isn't much different than song poetry services from the mid-20th century where for a fee you could send in your lyrics and professional studio musicians would sing and set it to music based on your instructions. This is sort of the high tech modern version of that. I'm not worried about this. It's just a tool. Yes, some will abuse it, but then doesn't that always happen? Somehow we'll all survive this and life will go on.
