I know this is over a couple of years old now, but this is still a very nice tutorial for a Greenhouse that makes bonemeal into seeds/flower collection much easier, and without the hassle of moving around to to it all! I'm not sure if this would still work or not in today's current/coming versions of Minecraft, just due to changes with water flow and all that from past updates/versions!
You are a genius. When Notch implemented this, I knew you'd figure out a system like this, and was planning on making one myself today. Looks like I underestimated how quickly you'd develop it and release a video though!
18:23 Etho has a pig on his head. XD I really like this design, it seems to work well, and easily. Of course it didn't take you long to take advantage of the tall grass :)
Etho, a far faster way to harvest these things is simply make a dark room with grass and most of it instantly breaks when you use the bonemeal on the grass. You can just use a couple stacks of bonemeal in the space of a minute or so and then take another 2 seconds to pick up the drops.
@WinterMafia Yup, the 4 signs on top should remain as signs. The 3 signs on each of the 4 sides could be replaced by ladders. However, make sure the ladders are placed in the same direction that the signs were, other wise some items will get stuck
Make the dark room, keep one open block on the ceiling, use bonemeal, fill block, voila. Lather, rinse, repeat. Besides, when Etho made this video, the original spam bonemeal method worked.
Looks solid, the only thing I find pointless and that could make the building process SLIGHTLY faster, would be rather than dig out a 15x15 hole, just make a ring of dirt, 15x15.
Etho, flowers and grass pops off grass if the block its siting on gets powerd, so if you have redstone under it with a 1clock you place the grass and then it will pop off within a second!! thumbs up so etho knows!
@EthosLab you could use ladders instead of signs at the center 3 holes of the upper edges because the water currents would eventually push the items off of the ladder.
Etho, I love your great ideas and buildings. The only flaw I saw was spiders could get in. I still like this structure though and will think about making it.
I saw this video coming after you first used the bonemeal in one of the previous LP episodes. Something to the effect of "huh, you can use water to wash it away... that will be very useful...". ( Etho mind begins whirring... )
Though the design is solid. Minimum work is an understatement unless you have a means to get bones easy(grinders, mob traps, ect.) its not going to be a plauseable salution to getting seeds. Its not economic for non-advanced players is what i'm trying to say.
Etho, while in your inventory, you can shift-click items to make them go from the hotkey slots to the rest of the inventory and vice versa. Just something worth knowing to increase your efficiency by a few seconds ;)
etho!:) do more redstone tutorials please i would really enjoy learning from you like you should make a weekly video of redstone tutorial and take suggestions on what to build pleeaassee haha
I have discovered that you can make your floor out of slabs (any kind) and you won't be able to put pressure plates on it so no amount of TNT under your house can be detonated by pressure plates (I'm sure everyone knows of this but I'm just pointing it out)
hey etho one thing you may find useful when you need to move signs in your inventory: if you shift click an item in your inventory, it gets moved to your hot bar. vice versa.
You and Kiershar should get together and make something really really really really really really awesome. Like an actually boat that moves with pistons or something.
@WinterMafia I suppose those 12 could be ladders. Thing is, I'm not sure how small items are, and whether or not they would be pushed. But you could place the ladders on the other side, and it would float. Probably.
@sToFALARDEAU Thanks a million friend :D I had been looking through episodes ~50 to 60 by clicking ahead about 4-5 minutes at a time, but I didn't find it. Thank you again :)
Good sir Etho! Did you know, that shift clicking now works for moving items into your hotbar from your inventory and visa versa??! WELL NOW YOU KNOW!!!
@RenschHuisman The main idea is to get seeds to make alot wheat. Hmmm, i still dont know though.... Ehhh i know digging pit/s and makeing traps would work in forests but.... there is still the issue of haveing to wait to get alot of the mob drops that normaly burn in them. And haveing to deal with creepers that fall in the pit/s as well(believe me i've test it over the long term). I can agree with you to some extent. Its the time factor. Shorter time + mass product = more items.
@ihatecamperssomuch you use seeds for when you use a hoe on grass (right click) then right click to place seed on tilled grass but you have to have a water source near 1-4 blocks away :)
@Elmach2MN2 Maybe the top 4 signs should stay signs, because I can see stuff getting stuck there, but the bottom 12, the edge that's extended doesn't seems to be a problem because the water keeps pushing it past it. I dunno, I have so many seeds already and flowers aren't an issue for me. Just pointing it out.
@RenschHuisman I've seen them. Thoughs are still linked to advcanced usesers. I dont know a single player thats new that has even built one yet. Thinking simpler. Something that anyone can make but is easy as hell to use. Mob traps like the ones that take down cows, sheep, ect durring the day. And hostile mobs at night. Its a short time to make(iron and coal are the only expencive part about it for 2 buckets) and the grinder can just be made with cacti or water. I've seen these all over.
Etho, the "grass path" that you stated at about 10:10 is unnecessary since grass can spread upwards and downwards up to 3 blocks. But I'm sure you knew that, you probably are doing that since it may be faster.
@DeflectiveCheese It's not that hard... Just build a square surface in a dark area made out of 3x3 squares (so 3x3, 6x6, 9x9, 12x12, etc). Then just place the mushrooms in the center of each 3x3 square and that will give maximum productivity (theoretically... It has for my testing).
I remember back in those old days when machines like this were revolutionary

Oh snap! The way you made it so water flows in almost a full sphere is genius!
etho you are 1 youtuber who has speant alot of your time helping people and having fun i love it thanks
You are a genius. When Notch implemented this, I knew you'd figure out a system like this, and was planning on making one myself today. Looks like I underestimated how quickly you'd develop it and release a video though!
I love how you've changed Etho. But I do miss the old Etho 😔
Ahhh its good to see some old vidios from etho, but his new ones is better
ight how bout now
I’ve never watched these , and I’m actually so sad that I didn’t , these would’ve helped me so much in the past 🤣🤣🤣
Etho , once again , legend
What a change from back then to now. Love u etho
This is INSANE! Another great invention from the Minecraft Legend!
He pointed this out in a later LP video of his. Both works, but the dark-room design came to be the winning design.
18:23 Etho has a pig on his head. XD

@diggoran You need to make them 2 high or else you will lose some of your drops on top of the 1 block high barriers.
@WinterMafia Yup, the 4 signs on top should remain as signs. The 3 signs on each of the 4 sides could be replaced by ladders. However, make sure the ladders are placed in the same direction that the signs were, other wise some items will get stuck
"great tutorial"... GG etho
Awsome!
You can use shift in the inventory to put items in the "active" part of the inventory
Make the dark room, keep one open block on the ceiling, use bonemeal, fill block, voila. Lather, rinse, repeat. Besides, when Etho made this video, the original spam bonemeal method worked.
Best minecrafter ever
Looks solid, the only thing I find pointless and that could make the building process SLIGHTLY faster, would be rather than dig out a 15x15 hole, just make a ring of dirt, 15x15.
I gotta build this in my Lets Play :-D
Etho, flowers and grass pops off grass if the block its siting on gets powerd, so if you have redstone under it with a 1clock you place the grass and then it will pop off within a second!!
thumbs up so etho knows!
What would Past Etho think of Present Etho's flower farm?
Lol :P
@EthosLab you could use ladders instead of signs at the center 3 holes of the upper edges because the water currents would eventually push the items off of the ladder.
Etho, I love your great ideas and buildings. The only flaw I saw was spiders could get in. I still like this structure though and will think about making it.
The most recent comment was 2 years ago so I figured I’d say hi :D

Okay, so I'm 3 minutes 4 seconds in, and I have to say that invetion is effing amazing!
this would be a cool house design
Etho, you're awesome, I love you
So cool! Another great one, Etho.
Etho a blackroom is better for flowers and seeds... in a black room, the flowers and grass will destroy as soon as you place it... making it faster :D
Amazing. All that water coming from that tiny bucket :)
You and Kiershar should get together and make something really really really really really really awesome. Like an actually boat that moves with pistons or something.
This was a good tutorial video to watch and have an amazing day everybody :]
@WinterMafia I suppose those 12 could be ladders. Thing is, I'm not sure how small items are, and whether or not they would be pushed. But you could place the ladders on the other side, and it would float. Probably.
Amazing creation Etho!!! Well done 10 diamonds for you ;)
@sToFALARDEAU Thanks a million friend :D
I had been looking through episodes ~50 to 60 by clicking ahead about 4-5 minutes at a time, but I didn't find it. Thank you again :)
OMGZORZ. The best thing to see in the subbox!
Good sir Etho! Did you know, that shift clicking now works for moving items into your hotbar from your inventory and visa versa??! WELL NOW YOU KNOW!!!
U ARE AMAZING ETHO!
i just did this, but used it to farm wheat instead. few more steps & a few mods but it works great!
@treeklimbers that's why you also make a mob farm for an infinite amount of bonemeal
Etho, you're awesome; I love you.
man, u really are a genius, is this ur own invention?
Etho, you're awesome, I love you!
Etho, your're awesome and I love you
Etho is the Bob Ross of Minecraft!
(I mean that in the best way.)
ur videos make me happy etho :) thanks
etho you sound so young I just came back to see what it was like in the old days
Great Tutorial, Etho! Thank you!
In my opinion, Dirt should stay Dirt, and Farmland should be Soil. Because you can accually plant seedlings and other things in it.
Nice invention etho
@RenschHuisman The main idea is to get seeds to make alot wheat. Hmmm, i still dont know though....

**Etho,you're awesome! I love you
If you framed it in class it would look cool :) More like a greenhouse then!
Etho, you are a brillant guy, i want you to be my advisor in life ._.
Etho could you PLEASE make minecraft tutorials more often the last one has been a while. THANK YOU
thank god notch did this, i died somehow with ALL my seeds, and they fell in lave, those were the only drops that did that, i also forgot to replant,
@BitOfADunce Haha, it's fine! Nice flower/seed generator, though! Mind if I use it? I may also want to do some tests about the efficiencies of it.
i tried it out and it was easier than i thought
@ihatecamperssomuch you use seeds for when you use a hoe on grass (right click) then right click to place seed on tilled grass but you have to have a water source near 1-4 blocks away :)
this will be useful after notch fixes the glitch with dark grassy areas :)
holy shit
well made bro lol
i dont even think im going to attempt that yet :P
This is really clever man =)

@EthosLab you also don't need the barriers to be 2 high. 1 high is good enough.
Awesome vid
dude this is sick..
You should continue the tutorials in 1.5 considering it was the redstone update :)

Pure genius.
This makes so much sense now...
awesome design,.100% efficient super speed ultimate lazy farming :p
One thing: Leave the water in there for about 20 seconds. Some items got stuck on the ground before.
Etho you're awsome I love you!
Nice job as usual! But at 9:36, in the background you can see some glass, is the secret project?
Your videos upload so fast now:D
@Elmach2MN2 You place a torch after you're done. Fixes both of those issues.
@klototo1 yes because tall grass and flowers only grow on dirt (with grass on it)
*Etho, you're awesome, I love you.
YES WE SHALL BUILD IT!
Very useful!
*Etho, you are awesome, I love you.
Another thing to cure my boredom: )
Etho you're awesome I love you

u get seeds LIKE A BOSS!
Check out Static's greenhouse! Much less space and quicker, too.
Sick breh
Wow Cool :)
Etho is a genious :D
Same here the only reason I subscribed
Nice
