The saying is "Par for the course," saying that things went as well as could be expected. The term comes from golf where every course has a "par" meaning the number of swings you're expected to make to get the ball in the hole.
Awesome to see this off the ground, and already very different from what I did in my own attempt at this (I ignored Mino until turn 3), but granted, this was on normal first, then very hard (the second of which I failed to do), I'll be interested to see how this develops going forward.
I know all this has been played out by now but one way to deal with the Imagawa problem is to use monks to start rebellions in their land so their land gets held by rebels. I believe that would've also been part of the way to make the OG Tokugawa your vassal rather than their replica.
Today I learned that if I want to have kids, I better name one of the kids Bob so that his brothers and sisters can accurately say, "Bob's your uncle" to their kids
That is hilarious. With how you describe I imagine your diplomat is just reading off his hand in really scribbled on writhing and that’s why the numbers keep changing. He’s not sure if he wrote 150 or 50 or 100.
I have a dream of doing this at some point, but it is incredibly difficult. Ideally you get 5 provinces, 1 for each Metsuke and you just SHOVE koku down your vassal's face. Sometimes they make progress, but they are horrible at sealing the deal. The bonus is that your vassal loves you as you give them gifts constantly. But you'll be there for a while watching them kinda pussyfooting around not doing things you would clearly do.
@@MrSmartDonkeyLP Ah yeah, I had a few drinks when I made the previous comment and the second video you just posted had me realize that I thought this challenge was something different. I've tried so hard to have a vassal essentially win the game for me with me funding it, as described in my previous comment. But that's not what this challenge is.
Par for the course is a golf term its used when the average or expected outcome on the particular hole (aka the average amount of strokes to a hole) so not core.
If Tokugawa Hirotada dies, Ieyasu (who's 2 at the start of the campaign) will become their Daimyo, but if you take the town and make them your vassal that way, the family tree resets, since the clan will briefly be destroyed, blinking in and out of existence, like they did here; the army the 'old version' had still disappeared. The only way to make Tokugawa Ieyasu your vassal is to make the 'original version' of the Tokugawa your vassal, since then they'd be using the same family tree, and Ieyasu will eventually lead the clan.
I know this is Very far fetched for you to do as a series... But could you do the Imjin War mod on steam/Morning Sun as a series? Version 3.2 on the forums that is, not the steam parts 1-8 as they're obviously different builds. Its a long campaign, but it adds Korea which is awesome but if you need walkthrough ideas I think it'd be a fun one at least to me. (Even tho I have literally alot of mods on besides the imjin one, its a challenge on very hard with buff mods XD)
As exprienced Shogun 2 player, can you tell is actually possible to win campaign with vassals or allies. Because when start this "This is total war" challange all just declare war and betrays you?
I’m not saying you’ll have any luck, but you could always join my discord server, plenty of like-minded Shogun 2 players there, link in the description. Or alternatively there’s the official Total War discord server as well, I’m sure there’s plenty of Shogun 2 players there too.
i think this will be your most annoying challenge yet, mostly because you went for domination mode. as you are not allowed to hold much land your victory conditions will have to be done by tokugawa, who will stab you in the back 12 times out of 10 even before realm divide. can you loan dunderbuss cav from otomo for a few volleys, if you know what i mean?
It’ll be okay, I did the Ashikaga Shogunate campaign before that’s basically a “This is Total War” challenge on steroids, at war with the entire world after 4 turns, even all the clans I hadn’t met yet. This challenge is a piece of cake in comparison.
After realm divide (and specifically, after becoming shogun) it's not a 'do whatever you want', but more vassals will be allowed (and indeed the only way to win), and those new vassals won't suffer from realm divide either, since they would come into existence as a vassal of the shogun, the only negative opinion they'd suffer is territorial expansion and the inherent 'anti-player bias'.
Man do you know how to use mods. Its one of my favorite total war games but original look so bad and pure, number of provinces is to small, number of man in one unit is to small.....alomst everything is to bad
IF OUR DAIMYO IS TO BECOME SHOGUN will never not bring a smile to my face. Best part of every Shogun campaign.

PARKOUR! 🥷
160,000,000 videos so far, and yet we're still hungry for more!
so basically the challenger is trying to get the historical settings with Oda Nobunaga conquered regions and vassalizing Tokugawa

Par for the course, it’s from golf
i love three kingdoms the most but your Shogun 2 challenge runs are always great!
Indeed
No matter how many lets plays you do on Shogun 2 I will always be here for them all
We are glad, you are finally back with shogun 2
Basically this challenge is the historically accurate challenge
I would think if he played Tokugawa and did the same with Oda, it would be the accurate accurate
bby far the best total war ever made. its simple yet incredibly fun and i always wind up going back to it
Actually watching the Ikko Ikki struggle in the early game made my day. Best get some popcorn for the next one.

Man this challegnee ought to bring us a lot of joy!
Lets gooo Marc!
Yaaaay, another challenge run!
Par for the course, is the saying. It essentially means, 'That's the normal outcome for this scenario.'

Actually Tokugawa Hirotado is the same person (Tokugawa iaiaso) but he changed his name to that later in his life.
Huzzar! Never a bad day when MrSmartDonkey does Shogun 2!
Now I'm having an existential crisis over everyone have an uncle Bob.

Nice one ! I just started a Oda campaign during the new year holiday time lol
Glad to hear that the Honma campaign hasn't died!
The next episode should have been up for a few hours already, but RUclips still hasn’t processed it yet, not sure what’s going on.

Wow Azai didn't die in 1-3 turns
UPD: WOW they allied with Hattori not died from them
Par for the course, it’s golf

good video

160th Billion run, let's go!

have you had a challenge where you can just take kyoto?
Btw “ma knee yo ja means “many women.”
15:25, is that a Starcraft reference? Did you like that game?
It was indeed, and I enjoyed the SC2 campaign, did a Playthrough of it on the channel a few years back.

Hold ctrl when making a movement order.

@@dmitryfalkovich833 Hahaha, yeah, they really wanted Omi.
I am a bit confused. If you can't conquer more than the set provinces, how can you win the campaign?
That's only before I trigger realm divide. Once I trigger realm divide I can do whatever I want.

Steam workshop, pretty straightforward.
