One thing to note: This wasn't Russo's first Nitro. At one point the Meltzer coverage noted the previous week and how baffled the roster was at the lack of faces/heels. Oct. 18, 1999 was Russo's 1st Nitro. That's where insane segments like Bagwell saying "Hey, Russo! Did I do a good job for you?" happened (when he lost to La Parka). You would think waiting until after the PPV would be better in terms of starting a new regime. Russo's problem is running the same playbook regardless of the talent roster, alluded to by Conrad with the Alabama football reference. In the WWF, Russo had a marginal roster of in ring workers overall in 1998-99, but it was a roster great at his zany brand of Crash TV style sports entertainment (Austin, Rock, DX, even midcard guys like Venis and Godfather). WCW was a roster of veteran 80s stars like Hogan, Savage, Flair, etc. Or smaller cruiser guys/high end in ring workers (Benoit, Malenko, Eddie, etc.). Or someone like Goldberg whose presentation was stripped down and devoid of wacky sports entertainment. He had the same trouble in TNA where Russo had a roster of veterans and X Division style workers but tried doing Crash TV.
Dude what are you even talking about, no one was watching these 'high end in ring workers' , no one gave a fuck about wrestling back then, Benoit and Bret had a 20 minute match before Russo got there that did a 2.5. No one was watching these old stars that they had on TV just like any other wrestlers. What got over was crash and entertaining TV, no one figured out that Kama Mustafa had the Godfather in him if all he did was have meaningless 8 minute matches and nothing else. Let's have the same good wrestlers have the same good matches as before and nobody watches, what a fucking stupid plan jesus christ
I love Miss Elizabeth. I feel like she could have been featured better. She was a good actress. Whenever we got to hear her speak, she was very believable. I wanted to see mire of her in WCW. 😔
Yep! The week before was the 1st, with a few carry-over storylines from when Eric was first sent home being finished off (eg Goldberg v Sid) and the main one (Hogan v Sting) being altered by Russo, leading to Hulk laying down at Halloween Havoc and being written off TV along with Flair, Savage etc. (which was meant to lead to the original New Blood v Millionaires Club concept, but was canned as Russo himself quit in mid-January).
@@Wefdog85Dustin shitting on Seven happened on November 8, 1999, which was Russo’s 4th Nitro in charge. Jarrett el-kabonging Buff was on the 1st one, as you stated, which was his official WCW return.

I remember seeing Sting without face paint. It was so hot. But a few minutes later, I was sad. It felt like Sting didn't care enough to paint his face. It seemed lazy.
Who the hell does Eric think that formatted the WWF shows that kicked his ass? It was Ed and Vince, so this talk about how Eric is this expert in formatting wrestling shows and Ferrara and Russo are clueless is hilarious. Bischoff lucked out in one idea, ran it to the ground, was putting out garbage TV with the excuse of corporate, gave thousands and thousands of dollars in stupid contracts and then when he got creative power in TNA his brilliant idea was to do Aces and Eights that no one gave a fuck. Truly a creative GENIUS LMAO
But Aces and Eights kinda halfass ripoffed something that was popular on TV at the time. It was as successful as anything in TNA could be at the time due to the budget limitations put on them by Panda and Spike only being a mid network. Having half the audience Eric inherited from the Russo/Conway regime is valid criticism, because reasons. eyeroll.jpg

He was running a fukn second-hand, g-damn, video store before Vince McMahon had a momentary lapse of insanity and hired him. Instead of doing that he called him on the phone and gave him his notice. Eric and Conrad are being dishonest on purpose. What they criticizing Russo and Ed are the same thing they did on raw. Short matches, showing characters multiple times through the show, Crash tv beat Eric’s WCW tv.
