  • In this video I go over the basic installation of the TeraFlex hand throttle kit. I am not sponsored by them nor did I receive any compensation for this video of their product. I simply wanted to show how I installed the kit. Your installation may vary depending on the vehicle that you are putting the kit on. Thanks for watching!

Would you recommend this as a poor mans cruise control for a car that doesn't have it?

Did mine yesterday and now when I put the tj into gear, it pulls the linkage and kicks the rpm’s up. The instructions for the install on this are not the greatest. Thoughts?

Sadly I installed it and when I shift to second the engine revs as it’s pulling on the cable. I can’t see a way around this so I’m ripping it all out. I spent hours trying to get it to work and just have to walk away from it.

You just need a longer cable jacket or move the engine side of where you attached the jacket back a bit. As long as you can do the full range of motion on your shifter without pulling tension on the jacket, you won't have any problems. Keep in mind I don't know the specifics of your scenario nor do I actually own one of these kits, so please don't flame me too hard if I'm wrong.

@@Chase_WernerYou are 100% correct! I ended up going to a local bike shop and got a longer cable and new shifter as well and started over. I left more slack in the cable/tubing inside the cab so I could shift all gears w/o pulling on the actual cable on the throttle, and much to my surprise, it worked! I’m still not sure why it does work, but it does! LOL. Thanks for the advice as it certainly may help others who couldn’t figure it out like me.

Can this be installed on YJ (the older Carb versions)?

I’m sure it could. You’d just need to figure out how to tie into the throttle cable on the carb.

Probably wouldn’t need this for an automatic huh?

It’s great in a manual but it can useful in an automatic too. A couple reasons would be for idling up your RPMs when winching. This would help keep the battery topped off and it’s easier on your alternator. Another reason would be when off-road I tend to feather the gas back and forth over obstacles/bumps. This would be a smooth throttle consistently.
