Why do we need hand throttle?

Another very handy reason to have a hand controlled throttle is for those rocky, rutty, or just flat out bumpy roads/trails. When using the regular foot pedal its difficult to keep the Jeep from lurching, jerking, ect. due to ones foot bouncing into the pedal. With a hand control locked at a certain RPM its smooth sailing through these type of trails.

If you need this then just get automatic. Try doing similar climbs in a semi that's grossing 70 to 80k.

For manual transmission it is easier if you select the correct gear to stay on then start rolling the vehicle firt before you gradually apply the hand/thumb throttle.

This is the perfect vidio of what not to use the hand throttle for. Doing what you see here is a perfect way to trash your clutch. What this item is intended for is when you're already moving on very rough terrain.

You can just use the handbrake for this if you have to.
