That first host post dlc "afk" rune "farming" is legitimately INSANE 😭
There is a subtle meta-narrative going on. This host gathered all archetypes together:
- afk farmer
- net warrior
- bonfire duelist
- fogwall runner

@@Me_When_A_Funny Bonfire duelists are guys that want to 1v1 with estus (host has 2x more), and often with a rune arc which gives massive hp advantage if you use the right ones. Basically a 1v1 but unfair. And yes fogwalling is going through a boss fog to activate a boss in order to get rid of an invader, whether for the purpose of fighting the boss itself which is fine, or to get rid of an invader you can't beat so you can go back to beating up worse players with a rune arc and 2x more heals.
Imo there should be a small window of time where you can damage and backstab people in a fogwall animation, like there was in ds2. This would do a lot to prevent (though not completely solve) people from abusing it for pvp purposes.

what gets me is that they've got a whole ass build too, great katana, optimized heavy armor, spiral horn shield, boluses, and they've got the cops on speed dial, yet they're so stupid they can't even afk farm right in a spot invaders can't actually get to them in. and to top it all off they pulled the plug once they were about to lose lmao.

Kinda unrelated but I managed to get an afk farmer banned on psn. He said some weird stuff so I reported it and he got a ban. I felt pretty good about that.

@@RevelKnightPvP Poland ppl always call me latency whip or say i have a lat... But now it looks like my latency turn against me 🤣. Rly before DLC i wasn't have that problem. Now 90% of fights ppl double roll everything hits are missing or not stunning fantom weapons range hits me etc.
@@FarronSPL The 1h Whip benefits a lot from latency to the point where it becomes an extremely strong and easy to use setup if the lat is high enough, because you don't really need to roll catch people, you just need to get good prio with your offhand weapon while the whip is unspaceable, unpunishable, and builds up status. If your lat is high enough to avoid getting roll caught when people get into you, the setup gets several tiers higher. I guess people get frustrated at this and that's why they say that. I sometimes feel bad using 1h whip dagger because of this, it feels too abusive. Though to be fair, people complain about lat because they don't like when latent players adapt to the connection and beat them.

Coinvaders in 2nd invasion were absolute glue eaters. I find that just regular clean rot bundled with rot works well too

it absolutely would not, the skill gap between the avg player and the avg invader is huge, and the gap between the avg player and a decent to good invader who has a well made build, keeps up with the meta, can do technical stuff such as hardswapping, and has duplicated items rdy for use, has developed a 6th sense for adjusting timings in accordance with the amount of lag, is willing to play patient and go far in order to win, and/or is twinked.. its just an insanely huge gap that is insurmountable when the avg player has a far from optimal build, and knows how to do one or two things half decently at best, things which the pvp'er will recognize and know how to counter
it would have been complete madness to allow for 1v1 invasions, the invader would need to be far far weaker for that to work, less pots is not nearly enough, the ganks are a necessity for coop play to be possible without mods, people underestimate the gap, pvp'ers are just that much better, especially in deep rpgs where they have a system they know in and out as well and so a huge knowledge advantage apart from just their superior ability to fight
tbh, they just need a decent fucking netcode and more venues for pvp, arenas fucking suck because they are all very boringly designed and the queue system is extremely stupidly programmed making getting matches way more of a fuss than it should be, and there's zero incentive to partake in them, you don't even get rune arcs ffs
I hate how they just shit on their pvp, the devs should not be allowed to have multiplayer in their games at all when they treat it like a joke despite its obvious esport potential if its fundamental problems were fixed (and they can be fixed, the issues are blatant and highly fixable)
gamers and journalists really need to stop letting developers get away with shit like this, elden ring is not a 10/10 game, 10/10 should not be given to games with huge blatant unecessary flaws such as elden ring
in general games are rated far too highly, both by journalists and players alike, and we get worse products because of this, elden ring is an 8/10 in a reasonable world, amazing game, but bloated for no good reason, has boss fights that are designed with summons in mind which is lame because summons are lame (and terribly balanced), summons should only be used in the open world in areas where you can't use torrent if they should be in the game at all, torrent makes open world combat lame because you can just ride away at will, mounted combat is boring, status effects are overcentralizing, the game has poor controls (you are forced to use awkward claw grips to do basic shit) and there's and uncomfortable amount of buffering frames added for very stupid reasons, armor doesn't offer enough defensive benefits in terms of pure damage reduction, vigor is overpowered compared to all other stats by a large margin, quest and overall game design encourages players to read guides in order to be able to not miss out on huge chunks of the game, it is fully possible to keep the vague lore and no hands held Q design without super important stuff being perma missable by just playing the game without using a guide, you can fix this is many different ways easily, the game also needs a level cap so that devs can balance the late game properly
all online aspects of the game are poorly implemented, fog walls between dungeons and the open world are a joke and should have been removed before the game was released, coop should be seamless, netcode is a joke, lag is far too prevalent and combines with the buffering system to make the game feel janky and bad, it is particularly bad in pvp, zero excuses for this, its just japanese developers making netcode that only works half decently if you are in japan interacting with others also in japan, its blatant ethnocentrism and japanese gaming companies need to stop getting away with this bullshit, its an issue in lots of japanese games
pvp is a fckng joke for reasons already mentioned, the whole invasion system is a nice and unique aspect, but because the power gap between avg players and pvp'ers is so huge it necessitates ganks for hosts to stand a chance most of the time, at the same time invaders are incentivized to camp and stall in turn in order to compensate, invasions need to have a time to prevent this, this is obvious, if you have a timer and the invader can no longer camp indefinetely to exhaust the host in a dragged out process that sucks for both parties is no longer possible then invasions would be far more exciting
players also die too quickly, the best part of the pvp when the adrenaline is pumping is when you are actually engaged in combat, but you take 1-2 hits and you have to heal ending the combat temporarily, game in general needs less healing and bigger base health pools, both for pvp and pve, and/or a bloodbourne system, you need to be kept in the heat of combat for longer, for the same reason drinking pots should be much quicker, you should just have fewer pots available instead, let players be able to chug mid combat easily so that they can keep fighting and not be caught in a cat and mouse game where the roles keep reversing in accordance with who needs to heal, if you get hit while chugging you should even take less damage, this sounds dumb, but this is a much better system, you really just need to cut down the amount of pots available to balance for them being easier to use
and there should be clear meta levels as well (which there would be if the game had a proper level cap which it should have)
rolls need to cost stamina and should work like in bloodbourne, backsteps should be possible in any direction and be given invincibility frames (but fewer than rolls) so that they are a less laggy but more precision requiring defensive option existing, blocking needs to be reworked completely (greatshield builds are stupid and make the game lame, but as an avg player you are extremely incentivized to use a greatshield) and kick needs to be a base ability again
in turn hosts should not be able to summon more players once invaded, apart from getting 1 blue, they should not be able to indefinitely keep summoning players for support, but this is not enough, arenas need to revamped and redone with varied layouts, a functional queue system needs to replace the current one, people who are not in parties need to be able to get matched with people who are in parties for one, and actual rewards need to be there for winning, there should also be pvp areas in the open world where players can encounter and battle each other, covenants should exist in combination with this
items used during invasions should be reimbursed afterwards so as to not force players to either cheat or do a bunch of lame grinding
they also need to stop fucking around with the poise system over and over, and make it fucking clear and predictable, you should be able to look at your opponent, see what they are wearing and know their poise with some accuracy, this is still possible sort of, but its far too vague, simplify the fucking system and make it clear and stop changing it over and over, the pvp is already very uninviting for the non dedicated, the poise system being extremely important for players to be able to get a grasp on having being changed a million times and it being completely impossible for normal players to know what other players can and cannot poise through is extremely stupid
there are too many variables at play, the system needs to be simplified, and poise needs to be visually evident, etc etc, there are so many big impactful but highly fixable issues that plague elden ring, so how the fuck can you give 10/10 to a game like it? its a joke, what is wrong with people? I get why you have to give elden ring 10/10, its because games that are 5-6/10 are getting 8/10s, this is toxic positivity at work in all its glory, the end result being developers do not get their shit together because they don't need to and well all get worse games because of it

going by previous games the avg invaders were not all that, elden ring lowered the avg further but is being rapidly corrected upward because no avg invader wants to keep invading. no covenants, no rewards, damage and stun is too much, too many consumables on both sides. Also solo players have blues if they just wanna watch the avg invader get smacked around.

I noticed that on a 80 str build you’re giving up like 130 AR by infusing it with bleed. Idk which is actually better tbh. I feel like a bleed proc isn’t worth that much damage loss but that’s just me. On a 60 str 40 arcane build tho, this would be real good. I guess if you’re using it just for the bleed tho against latent opponents it makes sense. Could always just carry 2

I usually invade at level 150 from eu on pc, and the connections and net in general are awful, maybe 60% of the players i met have high latency (I tested my connection and its pretty good like 8/9 ping 200mb), just like the guy in the first invasion, i don't know if the situation will improve with the next patches, i am now playing the seamless coop mod invasions (witch is great in many aspects btw), but the idea of not having any kind of protection against cheaters, occasional bugs and the unleveled vigor of many coopers are a littlebit worrying... That being said it's probably the only hope left for pvp pc play.

Is there passive effect that happens when you have the shield on your back? And if so, does coil shield work the same way?
Yeah any shield with a passive affect will work on your back, not sure if the coiled shield gives any bonus though
Spiralhorn shield raises all of your resistances by 50 when you have it equipped
The coil shield does have a passive, it raises your immunity, poison resistance, by 40

I was just watching steel's vid about how he's joing that twitch tourny and it got me thinking. You guys should hold a fan tournament. Maybe a small cash prize or something. Would be a huge collab opportunity. Steel, G9, Chase, Prod& Lost all hosting a single tournament on different platforms, like 1 of you do pc, ps5, Xbox, at the same time then the winners from each platform have to play each other on an agreed upon platform for the #1 spot 🤷♂️ just an idea, might be cool.
