HyperNormalisation is my favorite documentary. Everything he says happened is 100% factual. Most people's problems with the documentary is whether something he mentioned was relevant and whether something he didn't mention wasn't relevant. You wouldn't think some Japanese gambler (Akio Kashiwagi) nearly bankrupted one of Trump's casinos, then Trump devised a plan to get his money back and bankrupted the Japanese guy who then got killed by the Yakuza, but that really happened.
Possibly baldness is on Lewis's mind a lot at the moment because he has receded quite a bit recently... maybe it's a bit scary to him, about how things might change soon :s
Just to reiterate, that's nothing to be ashamed of... male pattern baldness happens to more guys than not... it's not a fun thing to go through, but it's a part of life. He shouldn't be teasing pyrion about it tho!!
I agree wholeheartedly agree with Pyrion. It isn't your responsibility to solve the problems with society but it is your responsibility to elect the correct people who can.

'complex problems don't have soundbite solutions' is one of the smartest, most poignant things I've heard lately. And it came from Lewis. On this podcast.
I agree with the point pyrions saying, but if politicians have a great idea that'll solve a bunch of shit but no one cared about it or wanted it to go through but he just did it anyway people would then start to bitch an complain being like "this is no dictatorship you cant just do whatever you want we're not gunna take this" bullshit which'll complicate it even more
Sometimes when PFlax talks about politics it riles me up. Some policies should be taken to the public because it affects the public. Like here in Australia our prime minister wanted to pass the "religious freedom" policy, which allowed employers to fire or not hire women for being women, doctors to refuse to prescribe the pill or sex change hormones based on discrimination alone, and childcare centres to refuse care to children of single mothers... for being single mothers. That's not something you want a bunch of expert misogynists to agree on and roll out without public backlash. There's more nuance to this than "Don't consult the public on anything," is all I'm saying.
I think pyrion was aiming more towards economic issues. You're right, I definitely believe social policies should be mulled over by the public before they're put into action.
Then again, consulting the public is what elections are for. You vote for someone, follow up to ensure they do what you want them to, and if they don't you don't vote for them again. If you end up with a bunch of misogynists in power it's because a controlling majority voted for misogynists. The basic structure is built so you vote in some non-misogynists next time around and have them fix it. Of course, you do have referendums for the really big changes, like suddenly reworking the entire electoral system or the constitution, but the general systems should be based on making the public discourse about changing minds, not directly influencing long term decisions based on short term events.
@@a_e_hilton Pretty sure that indicates a larger problem with the country in general. Which really just means you have to work at changing minds for longer. There's no shortcuts there.
Coming to this after re-listening to the YoGPoD is really eye opening. That was 11 years ago and Simon said the word 'f~ggot' as a joke. It's funny to see how careful everyone is choosing their words in this conversation.
Earliest cartoons on movie film was porn-ish (smut/adult). It was only as it was pushed as cheap to produce for the interstitial between the sunday specials in the movies and therefore made kid friendly, after which it was mostly considered "for kids", because adults would prefer to pretend THEY never watched "that sort of filth".
The difference would be that men will find a woman either attractive or not, but if he did, he'd be busy looking for a reason for that attraction. Whilst women when looking at themselves look for the flaws, compare their worst bit to the best bit of another woman and feel like they are losing the attraction wars. Eventually a woman realises that her body isn't precisely what men are looking for, it is just the excuse used for why they are looking for it with her and stops being quite so self critical.
