    I've watched a lot of your videos and what I appreciate the most is that you let the camera speak for itself. You've given a lot of people the chance to see a world that most don't realize exists.
    Look forward to your new posts. Keep safe out there.

    Where this video starts to the right on the corner is Clinton and Fillmore That was my Dad's Ashland gas station. I would walk home after working there and walk along Clinton st. to where I lived at 840 Clinton between Montgomery and Smith st. Remember walking on the cold winter nights past all those houses and still remember the ones that are gone. That was around 1965. When i was a kid we would ride our bikes and there was a butcher shop on the corner of Montgomery and there would be crates of apples out front and we would pedal by and try and grab an apple out of the crate. That was fun till our parents found out didn't do that any more lol

    Absolutely incredible video for me. Alabama, Fulton, South Park, etc is so desolate ... that was known as the Perry projects back in the 1960's, I hung out there, this was a vibrant area back then, what in Hell happened? Havent been there in years, I moved to Texas 40 years ago, live in Dallas today. Thank You much for the video, it hit a soft spot in my heart.

      FloridaGreg yeah man, shit changes dumb fast up here. Perry streets vacant. All the white hipsters are flooding the west side. Meanwhile places like broadway-Fillmore pretty much stay the same, except they keep knocking down all the empty and vacant buildings. I was a kid here in the early 2000s and seeing how much the city’s changed even since then is wild. The city is “coming back” and in a lot of ways that’s true, but you see a lot of these poor people in these hoods forced out their homes bc white people are flooding back in from the suburbs

    Buffalo can be a both good and bad city. The festivals, venue events, culture, food, and even parts of the city can be wonderful. But, the high rent, shootings, abandoned and grungy houses, and pot holes in the street its whats turning people away.

  • @matthewjames206
    @matthewjames206 6 лет назад +2

    There's a certain tranquility to "hoods" in the winter. Hardly anyone is out, and it's somewhat quite. But come summertime.... Actually, it would be rather compelling if you took/filmed this exact same route in the summer. I would be interested in comparing and contrasting the two. The housing complex that your drove through seemed quite large. Was that all one? I've always been somewhat fascinated with the projects. Not the bad shit per se, more the politics and community that exists in them. Anyway, I really enjoy watching these videos; it's always fascinating to see the road less traveled.

    • @WillthePsychLPN
      @WillthePsychLPN 6 лет назад

      The projects in this clip are called the Perry Projects. They are about 80% vacant. There is truth to your statement about how the hood comes alive in the summer. But this neighborhood is always dead.

    I've seen a lot of Charlie's videos and I'm surprised how many abandoned houses and buildings and entire hoods exist in America. Can anybody tell me, does the government plan to do something with all these abandoned houses and buildings? It's a very ugly scene. People in the world do not imagine the United States in this way.

    • @zorroalphonso4354
      @zorroalphonso4354 6 лет назад

      The "government" is not going to do anything. USA has been that way for decades, so why expect things to change for the better. The worst is yet to come.

    • @robertpreskop4425
      @robertpreskop4425 5 лет назад

      This was caused by disinvestment and suburbanization during the 60s and 70s. Our wasteful throwaway society just loves to waste and discard everything. However many older first ring suburbs are suffering similar problems as the more upwardly mobile continue to move further out into outer ring suburbs and rural exurbs.

    Driving from Niagara falls (Ontario Side) then crossing the border to see endless housing projects and run down hoods is really depressing. Not gonna lie, when I took a trip to New York from Toronto, I'd never imagined I'd see what legit poverty looks like. I thought Jane & Finch was bad (One major hood in Toronto).
