I'm 51 and my body is tiny like Audrey and I look great in capri pants the ones I have hit me just at the right height ,the 50s style was classic even to this day all except the pointy bra😂

Those knee & mid-calf lengths are referred to as pedal pushers & clam diggers. The capri & cropped lengths are another look entirely, imo.. Very fresh & fun, elegant like Audrey H., classic. 🥰 thank you for the video.

I'm petite and capri bottoms, especially the slimmer bottoms like jeans looks so much better on me. Add a wedge or mini heel, dresses up the look even better. I love capri. Didn't realize it doesn't look good on everyone
Capris look great on a lot of people. Body shape and size has a lot to do with what looks good on each person.
I live in my Amazon Viodia 20" knee length skorts (dressy looking too)! I also enjoy wearing my capri pants. Capri pants look great on many women.

My 28 year old daughter just told me capri pants are super in style again. She’s in the fashion industry in New York City. I however wore them a lot but haven’t worn any in a while.

If you’re 5’9’ like me, finding pants long enough can be difficult, sometimes capri are a good option.🤷♀️
I get now why I'm hearing people say that capris should die. I am SHORT and I was looking through the lens of a short person. Capris hit perfectly on me to make my legs look long. I never really paid attention to where they are SUPPOSED to hit. It makes sense now! I also hate my legs for different reasons and am not comfortable in shorts, so "capris" at least give me some breathing room. I say keep capris around for those of us who CAN wear them!😂❤ Great video!

Wear the capris if you’re young coming from or to the gym, sports etc but please if you’re a senior as I am, do not wear the baggy capris or any type they just look horrible in my humble opinion 😊

I love Marnie and appreciate the advice on many of her looks. Possibly an unpopular opinion... I dislike shirts draped over the shoulders and jackets resting on the shoulders. I honestly don't see it in my every day life, only on social media, but it always makes me think 'that's not how clothes work' LOL

@@susansibley8093I wouldn’t wear a jacket resting on my shoulders, because it doesn’t seem practical, like it would slip off. But a slight sweater, tied or draped around the shoulders, can be so practical. It comes in handy a lot when the weather is acting crazy.
Sorry, but my knees don't benefit from shorts anymore, and I'm sure not going to wear pants in the 90+ heat we are expecting here. Capris are the perfect answer for me. Don't miss shorts at all, especially bermudas, which I think are the most unflattering of all. Just my opinion and what works for me.
I wear pants or long dresses everyday in 90°+ weather and I’m cool as a cucumber.
@@MsGoldgirlI get long flowy dresses in summer but in 90 degree humid weather would only wear long pants if I will be in air conditioning. Running around doing errands in hot weather shorts/Capri. I can get away with a modest short.

See, I look at that photo of Audrey and I see ankle-length, not capri. It truly is a matter of inches, though- as with any pant, 2 or 3 inches if inseam can make or break a look.Those micro shorts, on the other hand...yeesh!
At 4'11", capri pants look good on me. They nicely show my calves to my ankles because that is my body's best part. My tops are always current, in fashion and complementary to the capris.

I 100% agree with your opinion on capri pants. Capri pants looks bad on everyone. The pants Audrey Hepburn was wearing in the picture you showed seem to be more like cropped pencil leg pants because they go down past the curve of her shin. But really, AH could wear a grain sack and look chic! I was preppy before the look had a name and am still rather preppy, with stealth wealth mixed in.
Capri pants fit right above the ankle so I love it; this is the time I don't have to hem pants.
eh, I kinda like 3/4 sleeves. Capri pants are aging if they are baggy cargos or hot pink poly but those are not the ones coming back.

I would only wear as a bathing suit bottom, under a crochet or sheer skirt or under an opaque short to knee length dress on a windy day.
I am 67 and my calf's are too skinny. A Capri cut off would help me look curvier and more balanced. Thank goodness my hips have not started disappearing yet.
Belts and costume jewelry are the only western trends that are summer proof... And a red bandana, but I am actually wearing it as a sweat band or tying it to a tote and pulling it off to wipe sweat away, then right into the laundry when I get home. Actually, my summer trend is a good supply of cotton kerchiefs tied to bags for sweat management. Sweat is not a good look on me.
I just ordered a crochet tunic length sleeveless cardigan to wear as a beach coverup for modesty plus allowing me to get a little more sun on my arms. Will probably use as a texture layer when the weather gets cooler.

I am still wearing the big color saturated running shoes to motivate me to go to the gym. Then I need a shower and change into something cooler. My favorites are by Ryka and I've been buying the most colorful ones from each style. I love my seafoam, periwinkle, peach, turquoise, raspberry and gold metallic. As you suggested, I am wearing the slim sneakers in lots of colors with summer dresses and maxi skirts . Color accessories have made casual dressing fun this year.
The trend I would like to see disappear is the narrow dark horizontal stripe on white sweaters that every third person is wearing.
The trend that I may move too slowly on Instagram the sheer or mesh Mary Jane ballet flat.
Ryka gives enough room in the toe box & it looks great on your foot. I got some sky blue ones recently. Comfy & cute.
It's interesting, watching trends. In 2023, as I was revitalizing and restocking my closet after weight loss, I purchased some pieces that were not "on trend" at the time, but I liked. This summer they are emerging hugely as trend and I am very prepared, like for the crochet trend. It makes me want to think about what is quietly sitting there on the store catalogs, waiting to be next year's trends.
I am currently wearing the crochet (but with a tank or cami underneath, I am way too old for just the bra. I live in the NYC metro area, so what trends we choose is not the same as the south. I'm wearing more solid black dresses in the summer this year, and lots and lots of linen, a version of Stealth Wealth.
I agree with the Dad sneakers. I am the same height as you, and feel like those big shoes just make my feet look huge! As does all of the oversized trend, so happy that is going away too. I did some people watching in Manhattan a couple weekends ago, as we parked ourselves for a couple hours at a time, over a two day period, around the midtown neighborhoods. Comparing the obvious tourists to the locals, I wanted to see what real people wear in my area. I took lots of mental pictures (so I wouldn't look creepy) and got a good idea of what is really trendy where I live. It was fun, and can't wait to do it again.
Tennis outfits … just no… unless you are playing tennis.
Athletic wear is for the gym, workout class, on the court, not for going out. Crop pants, pedal pusher pants all have the high water look to me. Thanks for the video
Agree totally on the capri pants! Except for petite. I like an ankle or kick flare crop on my size 12/14 body. And enough just small and extra large sizes. Many clothes look different on a size 4 or under and a size 12-14. That difference should be represented by any brand who wants to be taken seriously.
As a petite woman (5ft.) I despise capri pants. I like my pants to fit perfectly. I am all about dressing classy and elegantly. I really LOVE the blue knit dress! I agree we should have more American attire. Red, white and blue look so Beautiful. As far as crochet, I just make tops/dresses for myself whenever I want something unique and original. I have made five tops within a month.

I finally decided to buy some white sneakers a few months ago. Banana republic factory had theirs on sale and I decided to try theirs. I ended up changing the laces to white, as they came with more of a cream color. I’ve worn them several times and they are the most comfortable sneakers I’ve worn, even compared to my athletic ones. My feet are not tired at all after hours of walking in them. Very happy with them and make my outfit of the day cuter.

Fyi-- Old Navy has a long denim skirt and the front slit isn't cut too high. Also, found a really cute, sandy neutral crochet top that I think is supposed to be a bathing suit cover up top--- but it totally works paired with a white or black tank underneath and whatever pants, jeans or shorts you like. It's a nice option for looking pulled together and fun in places Iike AZ where it has already hit 113 😮

I don’t wear the mid-calf fitted Capri any more since they are no longer in style, but I do miss them. I’ve bought several cropped ankle jeans for summer (Avara and Wit & Wisdom), but can’t quite get past feeling like they are just high water pants. They also seem to accentuate my big feet. But I’m trying to adjust.

I just took the Chicos gray and white striped no iron button down on a river cruise. Look great with shorts and also wore it open over a black dress. Just bought a white cotton gauze button down from j crew factory - loving this material. Have bought multiple short sleeve ones for my boys - so light weight for summer and no worries with the wrinkles! Quince sells the same style too.

Lv shopping the factory stores. I found lovely summer dresses at the gap factory. Because I am busty I don’t look good in white horrizontal stripes It looks lovely on you. I am 75 yrs young. I don’t recommend slide on shoes for older woman. They are not secure and would possibly cause falling. I have a friend who has fallen and had a brain bleed. She didn’t wear secure shoes.

Saw micro shor5s on a mom of 3. Her butt was visible & she was heavy. But, it was at the beach. Still my eyes bugged out.
Also saw young woman with huge holes in her jeans that looked like a hybrid pair of shorts with fabric hanging off!
The probably with HOT weather is most people do not look their best with less clothing. Only the young look good with micro clothing or bikinis!
Capris are not capris on my petite frames, so Im good with them. However I dont like 3/4 sleeves 😂. I grew up thru the preppy phase and still love it!
I am 5 feet tall & I think they look good except the leg needs to NOT be wide. Slim leg petite Capri OK. Cannot wear any kind of wide leg pants.

Frumpiness can come from any fashion style. I have never in my life been called frumpy when wearing capris. And my style has always been classic and sophisticated. Even though we all want fashion advice and that's why we're here, it can get to the point of making some feel shamed or lose confidence in what we wear. It's ok to say something isn't trending or that we don't like particular styles, but it shouldn't get to the point where we make such an issue of it that it alienates many who watch this channel for fashion advice. And we still want to feel OK with our choices even when we disagree.

Cropped pants looks like your pants are too short. Capri pants cover the knees, which for older people ARE more flattering. Stay in your lane young one, Capri pants forever!.

Capris are good for church and Im average hight and have long legs and long arms. I don't get however the cropped pants I would be embarrased wearing those
Cropped pants are like 7/8 in sweathirts and Capri pants are like 2/3 of lenghts and if cuffed up look especially nice. I wore them 20 years ago and bought a pair now too

Hi ladies, I know we've all beat the discussion of capris to death, and I have never weighed in on my opinion until now. I am 5'7" and pride myself on being very fashion conscious. With the shape of my legs, longer capri pants (not the ones right below the knee) are the most flattering for me as they hit my legs mid-calf. With my height and with the right top, I totally feel in fashion and regularly receive compliments on my fashion style. I feel almost shamed at times for saying that I like that style of pant and for the past year have begun purchasing longer cropped pants. However, from the calf down my legs and ankles are thin and this is not flattering on me as it emphasizes a portion of leg that is not my best look. When I see fashion trends, which I am always interested in and try to wear as much as possible, I see so many trends that are not flattering on hardly anyone. So, I guess I don't understand why capris receive so much negative attention. Fashion should always be about what flatters us as individuals and should give us the confidence to be ourselves in a chaotic world. Marnie, I also adore you and your channel. You are beautiful, confident and have such a professional channel and manner of communication. And I always look forward to your vlogs. I will keep watching always!

I'm 67 years young and I have finally embraced wearing shorts because I live in Scottsdale, Arizona where our average summer temperature is 105 degrees. The style that is most flattering on my petite stature is the linen Bermuda short. I do wear my loafers and ballet flats even in the heat. My favorite slim fit sneakers are from the ECCO brand because they are super comfortable and so stylish. It is their Soft 7 style that comes in many colors. I also have the Adidas Sambas that are equally comfortable. Thanks for this video.
Wear the shorts! I live in a hot/humid climate and I’ve embraced shorts even when my legs are super pale. I’ve realized that confidence and comfort is better than worrying what others think of my pale legs or my style.

I do like a nice fitting capri - that hugs the leg at the right length to flatter your leg - as some of us have a little iffy knee situation -
I have an issue with crops. Esp wide crops. If you want to talk 50’s. Even 60’s. Crops are just high waters from long ago and always remind me of hand me downs that just didn’t fit ! 😂

Crochet handbag #6 is HUGE! Unless you're tall or stout, it may work. I'm 5', 120 pounds and it looked HUGE on my shoulder. It is a nice sturdy well-made bag, very pretty, but I had to return it because it was just too big for my stature.
I love the crochet look. Was able to get a cap sleeve button down and cardigan for our vacation in Africa last month. Agree 💯 with the capri pants, 🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️🙅🏻♀️

I too live in S.Florida and work in the airport. You cannot imagine the amount of butt cheeks that come thru here. Especially sandy sweaty ones straight from the beach. Now they're going to plop those sandy butts on the airplane seats where others have to sit and parents lay their babies on🤦🏻♀️. I wish people would just put on clothes before entering an airport. Sorry for the rant 😅
The butt cheeks are the rage here. I really detest having to be seated in a restaurant after all the butt cheeks leave. It is not a flattering look at any size.

I hate capri pants and I am amazed at what people wear out in public. When did it become fashionable to wear a crop top at 8 months pregnant or a bikini looking like you are ready to give birth. Not counting the eyelashes that looks like you cany take off and fly.

I’m actually built like Audrey and the short shorts and capris look great on me, but only because I do have that shape. The problem is my legs are SO skinny I have to wear some kind of high heel to make my calves look defined.

Is there a such thing as a good wireless strapless bra for normal size women? I’m on the hunt for one that doesn’t sag and leave a band line across your bust. So many cute summer dresses require a strapless bra. Most of them hurt.

Long, long ago I had short shorts that were frayed & some distressing because I wore them in hot summer with no A/C. They were real distressed shorts due to use only.
