I feel like people overlook anything that came after the Millennium album, but Black and Blue and Never Gone have some of my favorite songs on them, and even the two albums without Kevin, Unbreakable and This Is Us have songs I go back to over and over. Backstreet has never lost their sound, the shift to something a little older, a little more mature, has been very natural. And even then, on their latest album, DNA, they have fun saucy tracks like "New Love" and "Passionate" that you just can't not move to. Highly recommended, by the way! Edit: Funny you should mention them being "The Kings of Background Vocals"! They are actually, so much so that they do the background vocals for "Friends Never Say Goodbye" from The Road to Eldorado soundtrack! Seriously, go listen to the album version right now, you can hear them clear as crystal! What a combo, Elton John and our beloved boys on one of the best songs from one of the best DreamWorks movies!

Drowning is such a great song but the other music video for Drowning which is called "the wet version" makes more sense imo. It's just so much more dramatic 🌊💧

Whenever I hear some of the Backstreet Boys songs there is a hint of country in there fused obviously with pop. You can also tell the era some of these songs were from because they had a similar sound to the earlier Britney Spears songs, were some of the writers the same? The vocal harmonies though are what make this group so special.
100% agree, my 2 favorite Backstreet Boys albums are Never Gone & Unbreakable where they leaned more in to their Pop/Rock sound. Their voices have always matched this style more than straight bubblegum pop.

For me, Drowning was their last single that still had what I wanted from BSB. Wasn't anything after that. I was able to see them live in 2001, was a terrific show. Nick annoyed Kevin often per my understanding, with his need to be the center of attention. I believe he also got the most attention from the female fan base. BSB had quite an impact in their time, mid-late 90's to about 2003.
