Hey Chewy, love your content Coach. I especially want to thank you for the Iron Squirrel. Absolute game changer. I rolled with a purple belt last night who usually destroys me at will from side control, made it my goal to stop him getting there and your squirrel cue was gold. At the end he said to me "you've changed" then everyone stood up and clapped and carried me round the room on their shoulders. Well maybe the last bit didn't happen, but I didn't get submitted for 5 minutes!
i needed just this, i know i tend to try unconventional means of doing things on the mats and have been searching for those gaps in my training, excited to try this on the mats next time!!
Here to try to learn to choke from the back better. Been training for 3 months, new guy showed up today and we we were running drills where someone has your back and is trying to choke and you need to escape. I didn’t get choked but I also couldn’t submit the guy.. feeling pretty down but still moving forward.
We have been drilling back take control where we would figure four bottom leg and control opposite side shoulder. We would then pull them on top to get the hooks then partner would try to escape to other side then we would try to get bottom leg control again with figure 4 controlling opposite shoulder. We would go back and forth until you escape. Then partner will do the same.
Hey everyone ik this may or may not be the place to ask but I’ve been very interested in joining a jiu jitsu gym. However, I am a sad victim of the awful toe nail fungus lol. I’ve been trying remedies to take care of it. But my question is, what is the gym etiquette on toe nail fungus. Do I wrap/tape it up? Not join at all until the fungus is gone which can take months? I’m just looking for some insight from maybe chewy or some of you, thanks everyone!
Ayyy!!! I have the same mat burn from playing half back on my elbow 😂 thought it was world's fastest staph infection before I realized what was happening. I've got a question though, what are you doing to stop them from turning away to escape? I play a ton of half back and also force people into half back in EBI OT rounds and the biggest issue I run into from the best guys in the gym is a strong rotational escape. I already do pretty much everything you mentioned but there's still times it's not enough, any suggestions?
@@Red_Spark. rolling belly down with no top hook actually makes it impossible to be flattened out, I use this escape extremely often, as long as you block the top leg from coming in
@@davidstout9999 how would you stop the hooks from coming in? You have to be in full turtle before you roll belly down :D.(this is ofc assuming the guy is on your back and actively going for hooks). Its a high risk move and I feel there is safer choices to get someone off your back , but everyones body is different and can move is some odd ways , so if it works don't change a dam thing ^^
@@Red_Spark. not at all, if I'm on my right hip while they're on my back, I keep my left knee pulled up and use the left arm to aid in blocking the 2nd hook, it usually has to happen while they attempt to take the back fully, harder to clear once both hooks are established, but as long and I can free the top leg, you can turn belly down, just need to then flatten that hip to the floor to keep denying the hook and roll until you face them, you should end up in bottom half guard, unless I could punch my right elbow through on the turn and come up on top half guard. I've trained with Ricardo Almeida for almost 6 years and use it all of the time, sometimes even unwinding a fully locked in rear naked choke
I've seen you finish that one arm choke before in one of your rolling videos. I believe you reached for your elbow (the one choking) for a quick adjustment. Twas purdy dang Shweeeet. Good alternative in case macarena choke dont work!
Oh no the Macarena! I always show my age on this one by saying "don't do the I dream of Jeannie choke!" I'll have to update my reference to a less out of date, incredibly out of date reference.

funny timing. I was recently wondering about double over and now I know it's a thing.

This is gold!
Adam looks so happy
I’m really going to look at playing that alternative to hooks
This is awesome, I love this idea of doing something unorthodox, thinking outside the box, very creative and inspiring :-)
Thank you
That’s cool!
I don’t even do bjj, but I watch a lot of these videos aha
Professor Adam looking swollen. Couldn't pay attention to this one Chewy. Have him put his gi on....lol 😆
When you use the half back, how do you handle someone quickly turning their hips and turtling?

So can this work if i only use the body triangle instead of the hooks???..because i use the body triangle most of the time.
Do you need to lift weights for a bjj competition

Question, is there anything stopping them from rolling to belly down when youre transitioning that underhook to a choke? Thanks for all the content!
let them and put your weight on top of them. It a horrible position to be in, just don't let them get turtle(flatten them out with your legs).

Love it. Being a small guy I hunt for guillotines and back takes. This will help. thank you

Adam is puting on some muscle.
What do you do to stop Adam from turteling from that position?
Enter the truck!
Hi Adam :D
Just one question. Why Adam making that face?
dont let professor see me do this 😬

Adam is staring at me…
No he's staring at me!
I'm pretty sure they've had a pill for guys who can finish from behind for some time now....
I got really clickbaited by the thumbnail.
