  • El Toro is an Intamin pre-fabricated wooden roller coaster at Six Flags Great Adventure in Jackson, New Jersey with some incredible ejector airtime. But does the ride as a whole live up to its lofty reputation?

    Legend has it that Ryan is still riding El Toro lecturing riders that a block zone is a section of ride that only one train may occupy. At the end of a block zone is a method to stop the train in case the block zone ahead is still occupied. This is the safety system that prevents roller coaster trains from colliding with one another

    I appreciate your honest opinion and respect your right to it. Now here's mine! It's obvious that you do not like one of the best sections on the ride, the speed curves. The lateral forces are insane, especially if you know how to ride them, throwing your body from side to side. Also, who ever heard of a smooth bucking bull ride? The section after the camelbacks provide another blast of laterals that make this coaster stand out. Yes, El Toro is not for everybody. Neither is bull riding for everybody. But for those who appreciate what it is this is a world class ride like bull riding is a world class sport, not designed for the faint of heart. To give this ride a 9 is a major red flag for me to go check out ElToroRyan's top notch review of this coaster. It doesn't have to have non-stop excitement to be the best. Everything about the rides works together to make it the best ride I have ever ridden and that's not saying much since I haven't ridden Lightning Rod, or Voyage, or T Express, etc. I just got 4 rides this weekend past and it is just as good as it's ever been seeing I now know how to not get stapled . I move the seat belt to the side of my mid section and suck my stomach in when they go to staple me. In conclusion, I wish I rode this ride when it didn't slow down before the drop, but I enjoy the anticipation of one of the world's best drops. No disrespect intended here, but I think anything less than a 10 out of 10 here is a misrepresentation of how bonkers this ride truly is including the rough spots, and tame sections that I refer to as the calm before the storm! Thanks for your honest thoughts!

      No problem. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion. I agree the best elements on El Toro are exceptional, but I'm not a fan of the calm before the storm parts. I have seen the El Toro Ryan review and it's excellent.

    I feel like the final twister section is an underrated part of El Toro. Everyone says that the ride is over after the rolling thunder hill, but I honestly loved getting flung side to side during the twister section. It perfectly rounds out El Toro's forces with the insane negatives on the drop, camelbacks, and rolling thunder hill, and the bone crushing positives, with some great lateral forces right at the end.

    Thank you, this is exactly what I expected from this review, u reviewed this coaster perfectly and also u have pretty much the same opinion as me on this ride, it has 4 world class airtime moments and that’s it, there is just so many dead spots and it feels a tad short, and I completely agree with ur statement on pacing, that’s very similarly to how I judge a coasters pacing as well, this is also why I prefer a ride like WickCy, yes the airtime might be a a bit weaker, but it’s still strong enough to satisfy me, but it has so much more airtime moments and no dead spots, I think ppl need to stop having tunnel vision when it comes to el toro and look at the whole package

    I've not ridden El Toro yet, but it must be at least somewhat awesome if it's considered to be Six Flags's best coaster even by people who don't think it's the world's best wooden coaster. I love the fact that you finally mentioned the B&M gigas's drops to this to compare it to. Even though I've never ridden any B&M hyper coaster (be them juniors or gigas) I'm tickled, since I always imagined Fury 325 and Orion's Drops to be 1st tier drops. I think I'd personally agree with which parts of El Toro are the best, especially as a back car enthusiast; the drop and 1st two camel backs experienced in the back car look like pure roller coaster heaven to me. Thanks for this review; I can only say I think I agree. Thanks for posting!

    I think the slower parts of the ride shouldn't take away from the experience. Yes the pacing is a bit slow in the middle, but I think that's actually good because it makes you think the ride is coming to an end before THROWING you out of your seat over the rolling thunder hill, which is something you'll probably not see coming if it's your first time riding. The very last few hills don't bother me because they're that, the last few hills. The only real flaw I agree with is that bumpy turnaround which is just a tad rough, but overall I don't think it's that bad. You just have to make sure to sit in the second to last row since it isn't a wheel car. Also, interestingly enough, the airtime is actually much stronger near the front of the train.

    I agree completely with everything you said here. I got my rides in June 2019, and I have been baffled ever since why people give it such extremely high praise, consistently in peoples' top 5 overall. Those rough spots and the dead spots really took away from the ride for me. Still, those 4 moments are so ridiculously amazing! Those are enough to land high on my list, but definitely not top 10. “Do I think El Toro is the world’s best wooden roller coaster?” No. I think it’s probably the world’s best coaster.
    But I don’t need people to agree with my view, and I enjoyed your review. I don’t share your sense of the flaws in this ride, but I’ve heard these arguments before and think they’re reasonable (though, again, I don’t agree with them). Then came the video’s conclusions. 😳 It hurts to see a 9 ranking for such an obvious 10, but again given your views why would I be surprised? But then ... You think Balder is better than El Toro, and you think Toro is only SLIGHTLY better than Colossos! 😳 I loved Colossos and marathoned it, but it’s a mild ride of graceful floater air, smooth track, and cool theming. To say it’s close to the epic intensity of El Toro is just mind boggling to me.
    Well, to each their own!

    • @CanobieCoaster
      @CanobieCoaster  4 года назад

      I agree El Toro is more intense than either of those two pre-fabs. I think the score at the end isn't as important as the justification. This is a ride I can definitely see others having as their favorite, but it's not quite that for me.

    The ride layout is amazing and the so is the airtime. However, I just rode this weekend and man I was disappointed about the smoothness. I'm sure it was incomparably good when it first opened and was smooth, but it could use a complete retracking. I will say that due to covid running emptier trains contributed but was definitely disappointed.
