Dude this movie is awesome. Ralph (the karate kid, Cobra Kai), is just acting.
But that movie and this scene must have made thousands of kids (me included) want to play. Especially on that blonde Telecaster Ralph is using. Legendary. Def check out the movie man. I think you'll dig it hard.

Actually Ry Cooder did all the blues riffs but during the battle that's steve vai doing BOTH parts(the classical part)

It was well documented Steve practiced for days trying to play the end part wrong until the director was happy it was convincing enough that he couldn't play it. But we all know Steve could play this with his eyes closed 😉

Sadly, Steve Vai is not talked about enough among the masses but among all the rock fans he is definitely recognized as one of the legends 🔥🔥🔥

The story line here is, Steve is the Satan's man. Ralph is competing against him to buy back the soul of his friend, who sold his soul to the Devil for musical ability. If Ralph wins, his friend gets his soul saved, if he loses, Satan gets both their souls. And although Ralph's character is a blues guy and that's where his passion lies, he studied classical guitar in music school, and that is what he pulls out to play to save the day. Or something like that. The classical bit at the end that wins the battle is by Paganini, written in the 1800s

In the storyline, the man in the black suit was the devil, who held the contracts of Robert Johnson and the fella in the glasses behind Ralph, and sadly died right around when the movie was released (man playing the devil). Great actor who added so much to this movie. Great storyline based on the famous Crossroads of Blues.

There's a lot of people who forget that Eugene was a prodigy. And he went to Juilliard. The classical piece he is playing here is the same one he did in class at the beginning of the movie.

Steve needs an Oscar for that one. His ability to pretend like he lost a guitar battle is incredible!

Arlen Roth played Ralph's guitar parts in the cutting heads scene. Ry cooder did a version as well but it wasn't used in the movie.

    Paganini's 5th Caprice
There was a myth surrounding him having"sold his soul to the devil" in exchange for talent with the violin despite the fact though dude had been a prodigy since he started playing at age 5... And since the movie was about the same vibe, it was clever to use his music

Steve is not the big deal here.... everyone knows he's one of the greatest guitar players alive !
I think this is from the movie Crossroads.... after I saw Steve go down and give up 😉
This is about Ralph & the fact that he is ganging in there is amazing.... yes we all know he would get smoked in a real battle
( & I'm sure Steve is pulling some punches ) .... but I'm very impressed with Ralph & his skillz 😉🎸

Steve Vai is one of the best guitarists and I don’t think anybody can really deny it. The difference is SRV and EVH etc made good music for everyone and Vai makes good music for guitarists lol .. it doesn’t have mass appeal.

@@ThatSingerReactions Well Ry is more of a singer songwriter who usually shows less pyrotechnics, but uses his guitar chops in service of a song. This concert is a good place to start, ruclips.net/video/tbtoXRFOwEc/видео.html
