- In 1988 the Giro d’Italia peloton passed over the 2,600m high Gavia in a blizzard. It created one of the most memorable days in grand tour history. Relive the drama with the help of never before seen footage of the race. Riders such as Andy Hampsten and Franco Chioccioli share their extraordinary experience of a day they'll never forget.

Andy Hampsten, no leg warmers, no jacket, no shoe warmers, no hat, legend:)
Colorado background helped.
I started watching cycling after Greg Lemond won the Tour de France in 86.
His battle with his team mate Hinault was legendary!
Then comes a guy named Andy Hampsten who wins the Giro!
Well at that point I become a bigger cycling fan and lay down serious money to buy a Centurion Lemans road bike!
I have since upgraded numerous bikes.
Andy never got the credit he deserved for winning the Giro.
Glad this documentary is coming out.
Andy builds gorgeous bikes now; check them out online.
Anyway, thank you Greg Lemond and Andy Hampsten for instilling the love of cycling in me.
I am going to be 57 and am in best shape of my life thanks to cycling. ❤❤❤❤ 🚴🏻♂️
Wow didn't know of this crazy Giro.... Will watch 👌🏻
That look brilliant!
Tegenwoordig zijn het ......t.o.v. de renners in die tijd
Andy hampsten hero they all where that day
Andy. Freaking. Hampsten.
Fascinating to see the clips of this epic stage. Very timely to see the riders of the stage say that it should not have been held. We as spectators expect modern riders to ride in any weather and disregard their safety in the way that riders used to - but even those riders feel that the organisers should have considered the rider's safety and cancelled the stage. We rightly expect riders to suffer for their sport, but let's not see them be permanently harmed for our entertainment.
Where can I watch this documentary? ..I can't find it anywhere...
Where can we watch this now? I have looked for days!! Anyone help a girl out with a link?
Is it out? I can't find it on GCN+
can't find it either...
Hi there, it'll will be available worldwide from Friday!
And then… not!
Snow not dangerous...Delta Brakes? Omg
Practically all the pictures I've seen of this stage look like paintings.
I wonder where I can see this now that GCN+ is gone
What I am trying to figure out I really want to watch it
De Breuk!
Anche nel 2023 🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️ anche il ciclismo sta cambiando in peggio purtroppo😢😢
Ma dove si trova tutto?
meanwhile in 2023...
How much money for this? Ill pay
Looks good, but likely not subbing to GCN+
Why not?
Lots of great quality programming don’t get me wrong, and this Giro film looks super interesting, I’m just unlikely to utilize the rest of what GCN+ offers to make it worth my spend for this one particular movie. Again, not a comment on what value is there, just that I wouldn’t watch much of anything else is all.
The riders from that generation were simply built differently. And when I say "built differently", I mean mentally. Millennials nowadays just don't have that mental strength. Too sensitive for their own good. And I'm not a boomer.
Yeah, let's forget about the amphetamines, pal.
@@JorgeGines Doping in professional cycling has existed since the 1886 Bordeaux-Paris race until very recent times. Thing is the technology to detect it has historically always been one step behind the doping methods itself. Until it catches up... and then new doping technology develops. This cat-and-mouse game has been played for more than 100 years. Most probably some sort of doping (we still are not aware of) is still going on in the peloton today but the technology to detect it is not available yet. How is this possible? Throughout history, technology changes. Human nature? Nah. Not a damn bit.
Tell me you’re a boomer without telling me you’re a boomer. 😂 “Millennials nowadays” and before you start in with some rant I’d fall in Gen X.
