Do you imagine, have a tournament of the top 99 and the 5th race just like F1 grid.... OMG I was on the edge all races. Note: I found this video looking for tips, and I was amaze that the best tip is always be on 1st position managing boost and known the tracks
Congratulations! You are officially an F-Zero expert! I’ve actually gotten 1st place in Grand Prix mode with the Blue Falcon and Wild Goose. You really have to be lucky and patient in this mode.
Congrats on the 1st place victory! I just randomly got recommended this video, and I immediately recognised the name ‘Cyberman65’ from when I was playing the game earlier. It turns out I was in this exact same Grand Prix lobby with you! I was the player named ‘Berker’ Quite the coincidence that RUclips would recommend me this video, haha
A lot of cool techniques used here. Using the boost in the beginning of the races seems like the way to go. I also didn't know about the beginning shortcut on the beach level.
Extremely good gameplay. Since you've already been given hints about landing, I'm also going to go ahead and say that if you practice on it, you can actually thread the needle on mute City one. There's enough of a space gap between the gravel in the wall that you can ride that line. It takes a lot of practice to get that turned down exactly, but it saves a couple of seconds. It can make your already-impressive lead even better. Also, with the double hairpin turn on silence, you can blast turn sharply and not loose speed. You'll touch the shockers but if done correctly, you wont touch the barriers. Just be aware the timing on that is nearly pixel perfect.
Sand Ocean is also my favorite! That massive U-Turn towards the start of the lap is delectably difficult, and I am having a fun, yet challenging time trying to master that turn. The atmosphere the track gives off enhances the experience. I usually like desert themed locations in games.
If you briefly lean before your turn, the turn will be very immediate. Useful for 90⁰ and hairpin turns. I'd say you have to lean about 0.25 seconds before turning.
My favorite part is that i can see how you are supposed to go about the circuits and fighting against bumpers. My second favorite part is the fact that Vegeta and an unspecified JoJo are fighting for 2th and 3rd the whole video.
1:23 If you're going at top speed and you go over a ramp, you'll lose a bit of speed when you land. For some reason this doesn't happen when spin midair (I think the in-game tip guide even says something about holding up on the stick keeps you from losing speed as well). It's really noticeable when you're playing as stingray since it has such bad acceleration, you lose a chunk of speed and you're stuck like that unless you boost. Nice gameplay btw
You have to hold down on the D-pad when you’re about to land on the floor. This cancels the animation were you bounce for a bit and you retain speed from the jump.
What does holding up do in F-Zero 99? I've experimented with holding down, and I know it gives you a smooth landing, but hadn't heard about holding up. Please enlighten me.
@@fernando47180@neroclaudius3036 Yeah I had it backwards, holding down makes you spend longer in the air and softens your landing. Holding up does the opposite and makes you land sooner. Something else I realized is that coming off the skyway is treated the same way as landing from a ramp, so you lose speed if you aren't holding down on the stick then too. Something to watch out for.
Eight days ago already feels like a long time ago. Nowadays, especially for the Blue Falcon, you can't afford a tiny mistake like landing improperly, kissing the guard rail, or even taking a bad line in Mute City/Big Blue.
@@Cyberman65Yeah but don't belittle yourself, F-Zero is a difficult game at its core, even while depending on luck you need a skill degree that is above average to do REALLY well.
Remember the old saying? "It's not how you start, it's how you finish" I think Nintendo missed something! Because in this game, it seems HOW you start determines IF you finish! XD
@@blueblaze7312 the issue with this game is that when you get stuck in the pack, the game is chaos, but when you get to the front the game becomes a time trial. If nintendo makes another Fzero in this style, then the big dilemma when designing it should be on how to get the players more split up and less concentrated so that "getting stuck in the pack" becomes a thing of the past, and so that maintaining first is a little more chaotic.
So nice to see someone good who cares about driving after watching Northerlion talking about taking his game to the next level by mastering the Skyway before quitting.
I've been having so much trouble winning with the Blue Facon. I've won with every machine except that. It seems like you have to risk half your energy bar just to break away and just trust your driving. Congrats on this win too.
Thank you. Compared to when I made this video, the meta is too much now for Blue Falcon to win. The other three machines has their advantages to win, but Blue Falcon is just there. Having to deal with Golden Fox users just frontrunning and boosting is too much for Falcon as well.
For me personally, it's GX or bust. Perhaps this game will ignite that fuse for the creation of a GX remake. Glad you're having fun. Congrats on the win.
might be saying it too late but after you jump hold the down button until you land so you don't lose speed...if this is like the SNES version well my bad you got nevermind. Nice piloting btw. I want to see you tackle Fire Field one day!!
Thanks. Oh, I actually learned about doing that right before doing this cup. I do it at some points during this video, but the muscle memory for it is almost there for me.
I'm more confused than ever now, actually. I've seen very little in this video that I wouldn't normally do, yet you get a bunch of firsts. I see that this was two weeks ago, when perhaps people were still learning. I have won a race, but the usual scenario I find in races or prixes, especially with the Falcon, is getting swamped by the pack and being lucky to get a top 10 race finish, or even rank in for Silence...
Nicely done. How many hours did you put into practice mode? Watching this makes me realize how big of a help the zoomed map is, which is probably more feasible to use once you've memorized the tracks.
This game rewards true skill... Too bad I'm among the clamoring in the back. Averaging 40-10 placement. Got 2nd and 3rd a fews times, but never first yet.
The only machine I haven’t won a Grand Prix yet is the Blue Falcon but it’s so mid in every stat that I feel I’ll struggle the most with it. Any tips and tricks that I could study upon to get a win quick with it?
If you do a spin into a red bumper, aren't you immune to damage from the bumper? Correct me if I am wrong, I haven't done it that often and I'm not looking at my power meter the few times I've done it, but if my swiss cheese memory serves, I didn't get knocked around and I didn't lose health. I could be misremembering, if someone knows please correct me. I saw a bit where you crashed into a wall several times to avoid a red bumper, and I was wondering why you didn't just spin and crash through it, when no one else was around and you had a full spin ready to go. I spin into everything I see, so I will find out probably tonight when I get off work. If I'm right, it might help you avoid the wall. If I am wrong, it sucks to suck.
See how fun this is?.. We really need a game like this in the style of F-Zero X to prove this can do well with 3D race tracks... why does it seem like Nintendo keeps thinking fans only loved the original F-Zero, anyways?
Bro How are you able to take the second-to-last turn on Silence so well consistently? I swear those turns feel next to impossible in this game compared to the original
its interesting to see that the high ranked players actually race and have less kos and skyroads. the lower tiers is where the apocalypse starts
Yeah, you would almost think they are playing the SNES game with the greater space between racers and the absence of the skyroads.
That Big Blue race was so intense i was on the edge of my seat! Nintendo needs to see this is why a full on Online F-Zero game would be worth it.

They are making it.... the only reason they made one till now because they didn't know how to top the previous entries.
They can always add more racers in this game
@SuperFlackjacket this was suicidal and nail biting. I agree
Best gameplay of this game that I have found by far. Bravo sir. Not only did you win- you made great content. Thank you.
No problem!
Nice one man! If you didn’t know, you can hold down on the d-pad or analogue to not get the bump after landing so you don’t lose any speed.
