I just updated the song name now that the full soundtrack is here!
The use of this sweet, melancholy, pop chord progression for Spamton's narrative stayed with me really hard. I ended up using this opportunity to power through my art block, while I study to be a professional video game composer. I hope to come full-force with my music online soon.

"A Real Boy!" hits way harder when you realize it's the full, non-glitched version of "HEY EVERY !" , changing that forced "joyful" intro Spamton gives himself into a much more genuinely happy song at the end of his side quest. Makes me wish he got a better end.
Thanks for the introspection! Yeah Spamton hits hard and that's what makes him such a good "ex" character. Maybe he or Jevil will reappear in some way, but that initial feeling of loss is so important to his character.

@@yonkraccoon4834 I ACTUALLY DID GET A HAPPY END. I CAN SWITCH TO MY FORMS LIKE (Neo) (EX) (past 1997) AND (BIG SHOT) FORMS AND TAKE OFF MY (Silly Strings!)
@@yonkraccoon4834 I've got a hunch they'll reappear in some form during the late stages of the story, yeah. Might be exclusive to if Kris (well, "Kris") finds and challenges ALL of them throughout... however many of the chapters even have secret bosses (I feel at least one chapter will be dedicated to a finale where there won't be room for a final boss, most likely 7).
For what purpose though, idk- I just reckon there has to be SOME reward/alteration to the "singular ending" that results from discovering all of the secret bosses

Would love to see spamton becoming a happy [Big Shot] after pacifist fight, he's such a good character
I mean technically he does if you think about it, at the end of a snowgrave route he just dies but at the end of a pacifist side quest he becomes an item that helps you, presumably bring peace.

@@revivesyourgolder3130 Thank you. I intended it to be melancholy in the last parts, since A Real Boy's descending chord progression (the way the background chords kind of fall and come back up) reminds me of very bittersweet songs. It's tbasically the "Canon in D" chord progression.

Wow I wish I was [WAY BETTER] at MIX ING and MAS TER?!! A surprising amount of Deltarune fans are vocal here. Do people want more Deltarune? I find myself stuck as what to work on, while unemployed, running out of my initial savings, and inexperienced in making game soundtracks professionally. I'm really bored and live for games and music. Sorry if this sounds dry! I'm very tired haha

this sounds like Spamton slowly learning to be truly himself again after his defeat, helping the Fun Gang in their quest, meeting Jevil again in Kris´s pocket, having new life perspectives, healing bit by bit... Even the wobbly instruments help with that hesitant but hopeful feeling, its truly beautiful :´)

although its barely been like just under 2 months since chapter 2 came out, this cover is already making me feel nostalgic in a way, it might be the leitmotifs and the instruments but it just, i dont know why but it makes me feel so happy and this song really has a "free" feeling to it like a "good ending" of a story, so overall great job
edit: did i forget to mention, the ending somehow conveys an "ironic" feeling to me which is really fitting
I love talking about this kind of stuff. This put a smile on me because I relate I relate to quick nostalgia with music, and A Real Boy uses a nostalgic style to me.

the relaxing sound feels lost in time where Spamton was someone normal and happy somehow, I feel like maybe we'll see his full past somewhere in the game? I so wanted to know what things were like before and this song makes me wonder.

@@yonkraccoon4834 haha actually I mentioned my own deltarune playlist with almost 200 sounds and every time I clicked on it I listened to this spamton soundtrack at least 3 times, it's one of my favorites!

I myself used to work with VGS, but it was only for a hobby, seeing as I was 14 when I finished the short soundtrack for my friend's game

It brings joy to this bitter man reading this. It is my voice! I'm very new to audio mixing and recording, and I'm doing it using only internet research and intuition, as opposed to being part of a small music club or community that questions and encourages my values. So I work slow for now. But seeing the comments here, maybe I could make RUclips work? If I can always have enough people who want me to post one more song! (Also.. I even tried including the phone ringing and a phone-like quality to parts of the song! Though the ending melody is original, I hope it fits this song.)

I'm not sure what to call it but I really love how you used all sorts of different sounds (especially the chiptune around 1:57 - is that sound also slightly reverbed?), as well as your vocals. Kinda considering you for my headcanon uncorrupted Spamton voice now actually. Looking forward to your other works :)
Thank you so much. I loved making sounds with my KORG Minilogue for this one. I'm getting more flexible with practice. I don't remember putting reverb on the falling synth or the last one.

some of the instruments could be synced WAY better but this is a genuinely sweet and heartrending rendition, i love it a lot and i'm glad A REAL BOY got a cover like this that makes it feel happy and satisfying, cuz as short as it was it always stuck with me

I dont know if it's intentional, but some parts the song sounds glitchly.... and... is a strange happiness
It was hard balancing the jank, but it was all intentional! The happy theme made me very melancholy and gave me SNES Nintendo memories, such as Yoshi's Island. On a related note, Toby Fox is also known for using soundfonts in his earlier creations and sketches. He had a guide way back when about using soundfonts to make your own songs.

That means a lot! The messiness was intentional and not enough music lets itself be more messy. It's harder to be naturally messy, when you make music more mechanically, but I record with my hands on keys.

I really love this! I do think that the percussion is a little off, especially in the first part, as it doesn't seem quite right on with the swing tempo. Other than that, this is really fun, and seems very much like a 50s commercial, which I can tell is intentional.
