Dialtone - Deltarune: Chapter 2 (Monte G. Cover)

- I was supposed to make this October of last year, but shit happened and I wasn't able to finish the visual aspect. Now that I've improved, here's something really cool. I played it myself with my upright piano, hope y'all can enjoy. I actually have the original VHS recording as well, I'll provide a link when it's uploaded.
EDIT: Here's the VHS Audio! • Dialtone - Deltarune: ...
Just wanted to pop in and say thank you guys for all the likes and views! I didn't expect this to get so much traction! Not sure if I'll make more Deltarune content soon, but I wouldn't doubt it! :D
This was a really unique touch on the Spamton shop scene! It somehow feels.. more dark than the original due to the dulled out colors (and the smile on the sun, but that's pretty obvious). Thanks for this cover too!
if it is spamton, and it is well done, it shall get traction.
you earned them for your effort and great dedication
I gotta say, this video has something really special; it really captures the unnerving, hopeless nature of Spamton without falling into a overly-creepy style that wouldn't quite fit with Deltarune The song and the visuals are just in the very edge of what Spamton encompasses, without going too far.
❤
The “smile” of this iteration of spamton doesn’t express any form of joy or even mania. It’s forced and really follows the motif of puppets.
This has such a tragic feeling. Like finding an old VHS tape of someone's last gasp at success when you know very well that person crashed and burned 20 years ago and that's what anyone remembers them for.
perfect description
it's like watching a character being so happy and you knowing they die gruesomely in the story later
It's as if you had found an old tape from somebody you knew closely, Happy as ever could be. Only to remember them now as someone who had fallen into a dark mindstate, Slowly but surely dwindling into the grasp of their lowest state.
25 years, to be exact.
@@A.R.C.1997 but instead it’s a recording of you and your friend hanging out for the last time before they unexpectedly died the next day
The art style this has gives me a “extremely depressing and gory at times indie cartoon you’d find on the internet at 12” kinda vibe

yep
Cya till then
This still just feels like it would be uncovered years later, originally being made back in 1997 only to be heard now
yes
Of course it's 1997. It's always 1997.
LOVE the illustration of Spamton. What most fan depictions of the character are missing nowadays is an actual resemblance to a puppet, something you nailed. Also love how the glasses obscure his eyes, so its left ambiguous as to whether he's staring at you or just completely vacant in the head. Music is great as well. Solid work.
Once on top of the world, he came crashing down. He became desperate for what he lost and roamed the bustling cityscape, forever cursed to a life without control.
This version of dialtone is extremely off-putting and creepy, but in a way for me, it's kinda calming, like he is trying his best to help you, but it always comes off as sinister, this is easily my favorite deltarune remix, amazing job
for me, this feels absolutely and totally depressing. its like spamton knew about snowgrave and stayed in his shop to avoid danger. and he just stood there, waiting for someone, ANYONE, to show up.
but nobody came.
@@g-ray7121 uhh, not really like that because spamton helped you in snowgrave route

It sounds sad, but also has a horror vibe to it, like Spamton is at his wits end and will snap at any moment.
I know it's a small part of "the world revolving" but it's really good
This cover really makes me feel bad for spamton not only is he insane but after his fall he's just forgotten about and he's just on his own no one still cares about him, and his end on the pacifist, he finally has hope again, for the first time in so long he has friends and then he falls again
And then he went into kris' pocket
@@sahilhossain8204 yeah wouldn't be surprised if he just starts stealing kris' stuff
@gunstar2539 very accurate
This song is beautiful in the saddest way.
The piano echoes into oblivion, like the song Dead God Graveyard by Oliver Buckland, with the ringing of the phone stretching on juuuust a bit longer than usual, giving an ever increasing feeling of purgatory.
this just somehow sounds comforting and depressing at the same time. kind of like the feeling of moving on from your old school into a high school. the last day of school for your old school before you move on, it’s sad and happy at the same time.
The image of Spamton has the vibe of a crappy VHS tape of a cartoon from the 80's - 90's you'd find in your attic.
It's perfect.
A really good cover, it reminds you that his story isn't just video game lore, but also a reality that's happened many times.
SUPREMELY underrated. The best piano cover of the song I've found by far. Captures the atmosphere perfectly. Well done!
Thank you! :D
Spamton after the incident was never the same again, he started acting strange, his sales dropped and he was always waiting by his telephone. One day he just disappeared into obscurity with only old and damaged tapes of his advertisements and recordings of him in Queen's mansion still remaining. Only few people would still remember the man but you'd have to be in the know to even hear anything of Spamton G. Spamton.
Some say if you put your ear up to the phone he used you would hear n o t h I n g b u t g a r b a g e n o i s e
@bradleywill1610 quite possibly Gaster on the phone
soundscaping is absolutely incredible
i love the background telephone
I love this in a way words don't do justice, it's pleasingly sad but in such a beautiful way.
“[sorry, this phone number is no longer in service]” actually still haunts me to this day
This is even more depressing than the original. And that's a compliment
Looking at that image gives me some creepy pasta vibes along with the music, well done
This is an art style I always love. I don’t know how to describe it. The best way I can describe it is that it’s an abandoned Sistine Chapel; despite the decay, there is always a bit of forgotten beauty or joy.
This just gives me so many undescribable old cartoon vibes, i watched a bunch of old Polish cartoons when i was really young, cartoons that were made really long ago like 1963 but still aired recently a couple years ago for some reason and now i can't find them on tv, that's only talking about the visuals, the remix is just so nostalgic, esspecially with the phone ringing. Great job! This is honestly on of the best videos iv'e seen this year.
+1 Tak to wygląda
This feels like something I would see in a dream and can never forget and continuously wonder what it could mean.
The art style is definitely something. Music sound distant, colours are bleak. And the expression on Spamton's face... This is very good piece of art.
This song makes me feel like looking at a happy memory from your childhood and realizing its not the happy memory that it once was
There's an odd, yet almost comforting feeling this gives me.... It's just...I dunno. I don't hear it as creepy, sure tragic in a way, but....like I'm surrounded by soft rain clouds or some shit, with an old blanket from my childhood wrapped around me. There's just something so nice about it.... And the graphic as well, I dunno why but it's almost PERFECT in terms of recreating those early VHS kids' movies feels.... He should look so freaky, but oddly enough he has that weird "so ugly it's cute" look to him. It's just overall pathetic, almost. Lost... Yet not nearly as empty as the original. I genuinely adore this.
I believe the feeling this is triggering for you is that of the feeling of a liminal space.
This sounds like a liminal space even more than the original
man lost his pipis 😭
i love the background art :D
Spamton is a really good character has such a tragic and mysterious feel to him he elaborated on everything jevil was from the first chapter 2 let’s hope Toby makes the next super boss even better
I absolutely love this. The visuals causing you to feel off and the song reminding you of the sad side of his story, making you see it through melancholy lenses. The vibes the song gives off reminds me of clair de lune as well. Great job!
It's like someone recreated Chapter 2, but at a well-used school playground, or a zoo; it's somewhere where you would find a painted mural in an outdoors exhibit made only from wood and dingy 60's electronics, that display the characters and famous scenarios from the game, but the guy painting it didn't play Deltarune all too much, so the designs of the characters and locations are slightly off, and the characters are only shown speaking well-known quotes from the game, usually with no connection to the scenario they are painted in. Yes, the murals are good, it's familiar, you can easily discern what the painted murals are displaying, but it's so disconnected and bare-bones that it just barely scratches the surface of what these characters and scenarios actually are, so you're stuck staring at these murals as you're hiding from the rain admiring how well they were painted, but wondering how much they could have been because they're only meant to be quickly glanced at without a second thought by kids who go "Hey look, it's Spamton! :)" before going back to playing on the rock climbing wall. But hey, you didn't think of any of that when you made this, right? Analog horror and nostalgia bait would be so much better if they captured more diverse and specific scenarios such as these.
Actually, that was a pretty good scenario you wrote here.
This is the sort of music that would play while going trough old stuff in your grandma's attic. The feeling of nostalgia it invokes makes me feel like I just found my favorite childhood toy, or a book full of old photos. Good job
this is so amazing, hauntingly beautiful. i know this video is a year old but i'm taken aback, beautiful art, beautiful playing, good job!
Yeah...
This feel like when you go back to your childhood house but all you what see left is some bricks, and one tape with a metal bar. Also if in spamton way then it just -99999 kromer.
Beyond crazy work dude. Keep it up ;)
this horrifying spamton drawing looks like it's simultaneously rip itself apart and attempting to stay together, and his hands are just BARELY peaking over his own dialog box, which, if it did canonically exist, i don't think would be touchable, which makes it look like spamton is about to jump out at you, and that reality itself is trying to rip itself apart, which i think is actually happening, at least in spamton's shop, due to the fact that part of the wall is glitching into nothingness.
i love the vibe of this! the art goes along with the cover and it gives out the unsettling vibe like you're all alone but you don't want to believe it. well done on this, you're so underrated!! i also love the smiley detail on the sun! even if it doesn't imply it or not, it reminded me of Gaster when i saw it lol! again, this is a great cover!
Greta job, sounds legitly unsettling, along with the Spamton animation, did you drew it?
Yep, drew it myself! Thank you! :D
@@MrMonteG_ your drawing is awesome! And I mean awesome indeed
Thank you for this cover! :)
I’m working at a large digital canvas drawing 34 characters that are mostly made by my brother, and this is nice to listen to while slowly chipping away at it.
No problem, so glad that you enjoy it! I'm hoping to make a better extended version soon, with a better loop of course. Thank you! :D
Yeah man better get away from that stuff
This captures the mood of the original theme so well and it's really unnerving. Great work!
Quite a nice spin on the Dialtone theme. On the original, it sounds quirky, maybe a bit depressing. This gives off the feeling of someone from the 90's hence the static effect, and the realistic but muffled sounds you hear from those old films as well. This in a way amplifies the feeling that the original Diatone gave off, and it is an interesting effect. I like it!
Going through school listening to this really describes how boring school can get, yet all the memories have been made there.
However, I have yet… forgotten them.
It even describes how everyone is feeling post-2020, I am included. Just seeking purpose.
This makes me feel like I'm walking around in Paris on a rainy day. It's VERRY calming
**But nobody was there to begin with.*
This is probably the most depressing version of dialtone i've heard
This kind of style works fairly well with his mentions of 1997, just something plays well with the vibe here.
this is my favourite cover of this song
your pfp be like:have *you* ever wondered what does spamton in his free time?let's find out!
I find alot of people get a liminal spaces sort of feeling from this, and honestly, i do too. Its comforting but unsettling. This is truly a masterpiece ❤
This feels so tragic, like a tape that was made years ago when spamton was in his prime, only to be viewed now when we already know what became of him. This is such a good cover, the best piano cover I've heard and it catches the mood perfectly, great job!!
Oh man, I love this!! The piano, the editing and effects, and the twitchy boy! Beautifully done.
Thank you! 💖
Its been two years since I discovered this cover and I still love it!!!
He wished and wished for his greatest moment. Someone found him and helped him there however he was still dependent on that person. That person left him making him fall into the grasps of his lowest moment for eternity.
This gives off a burning memory vibes
This video broke my soul over and over again for a whole year
Every time I came back from school I turned on the pc and did nothing but listen to this song, it made me feel so... lost
It’s seems after all I couldn’t be more than a simple puppet. But you three… You’re strong. With a power like that… Maybe you can break your own strings.
Best cover i ever saw
its gives a eerie feeling of sadness, loneliness and even a bit of despair
its tries to hide the pain under a happy figure, but its unable too because he is not the same old man who carried a smile and was successful, he is now nothing more but a broken puppet, with no one to call friend, pal or even family
Everyone he knew abandoned him, and now, he just still holding himself because if he was not, it would damage those that come closer of him and himself
I forgot i was loading this so when i finished having a thought where i was fighting to people to the death and died i just started hearing this play perfect timing
excellent work. i added this into my deltarune files, so i can hear this masterpiece more

Absolutely incredible work, definitely one of my favorite covers of this piece and art work of this spammer scammer. Cannot wait to see more of your work in the future.
so calmly, as if I'm sitting at home and looking out the window admiring the rain
Ah yes the sad lore of spamton sweepstakes momentum 100
And eventually Deltarune chapters 3-5 coming soon in the next year near you. . .
I had my settings at 0.25 speed (dont ask why) when I had turned this on, and in all honesty... it felt so fitting. Just pure ominous despair... it's fitting for Spamton, not only this cover, but the slowed down to a crawl version I had accidentally turned on. I feel like it captures his desperation perfectly
this looks like one of those 80s style anime movies that you watch, fall in love with and then forget about only to remember like 5 years later
i have been listening to this on repeat for like 40 minutes
i love the old style look. it seems so smooth and nice
and just fits the fake looking happy man that is trapped

This is a beautiful piano cover of it...
How long have i been listening to this song. I've had it on loop.
it's beautiful
This is honestly so pretty, I could listen to this all day
This feels dark yet warm, if that description makes any sense, and I love the art style!
NOW'S YOUR CHANCE TO HAVE [CRIPPLING DEPRESSION]
Ah yes the feeling when a new secret boss has replaced Spamton g spamton in terms of popularity:
this is gonna bring nostalgia in a few years
ah thats amazing! thats such a beautiful piano cover.
the art fits so well with the cover and the ambience it gives off
This music feels like it would fit perfectly in a Rusty Lake game. You're going around spamton's shop trying to find a way out. The story and world around you becomes increasingly batshit as you find out more and more about what's going on and why you're here.
Oh no it’s giving EATEOT feelings and the art is so cute I love him even more
I don't know what is is, maybe the unsettlingly delapidated smile on the sun or Spamton's broken, helpless, forced grin, maybe his ever so slight jitter in the animation that makes me so scared and sad.
That jitter makes it look as if he's shaking while holding back his tears or at the very Brink of losing it all. Not only his wealth and control, but his sanity, as well.
The sun's painted smile seems like something you'd find on the wall of a kid's bedroom, except the house has been rotting away for a decade. It's like Spamton drew it on in a sad, pathetic attempt to pretend as if everything's okay.
The black void behind the crumbling wall of a sunny sky is just so unsettling. What's back there? How far does it strech out? Where is the light shining on the telephone coming from?
And finally, the top rated salesman 1997 himself. You can't tell what's going on behind his colorful glasses. His smile is so eerie and uncanny. His lower jaw seems dislocated, tilting back. He's standing at the text box desk all innocent, like a kid, exited to help you out, but he's a broken man. And there's nothing that can save him now.
Something I just thought about. Why is the wall behind him painted like the sky with a sun? I think it adds an extra layer of the [HEAVEN] lines in his dialogue. He obviously wants to be a lighter, but why? Does he think he’ll be freed from his insanity? I’m not sure but I just thought about that being interesting.
this is really good
This sounds like the audio that would play if Spamton showed Kris his past in a VHS
the fact that there is actual vhs audio in the desc is cool
Hmm yes neat
This sounds like living the same day over and over again, week by week, month by month, waiting, for shit to change
Amazing! You earned yourself a subscriber!
This sounds unsettling, depressing and the desperateness always kicks in. Just like how Spamton's character was built like...
Chilling, I like it!
Life update: [[i woke up again]]
I have tears that I can't bring back anymore, I really love 97, even though I was born in the twenties, my soul just wants to go back to 97 and be in a Spamton costume
The artwork is the Animaniacs if they where at least 4.714% more depressed.
I would love this to be a abstract and disturbing animation like Salad fingers.
Man looks straight out of Courage the cowardly dog.
This version makes me want to cry.
This is like if cuphead and omori had a child and that child was deltarune chapter 2
The older i get the more i appreciate and understand this character
Listening to this gives the feeling of being trapped or stuck
