A poor choice by JFF. English coaches have failed in EPL and internationally compared to Spanish coaches.Its better if they had chosen a Spanish coaching and tutoring with the emphasis on developing our grass root and youth football focused on technical and cognitive ability.This is what Jamaican football needs to improve. We should invest in some Spanish coaching and tutoring for our local coaches to improve or technical play .. Our track and field success has exploded when we started to train high quality track and field coaches at GC foster we need to do the same in our football. The english and MLS imported players are mostly runners and this UK policy is just killing any confidence that our local football is can be improved. That should be the focus of the JFF presidents but incompetence is the flavor of the day
We have talented sprinters who play football but we have no football technicians even the ones we import from UK with a few exceptions Bobby reid is not bad technically but the others are just sprinters and Teams like Costa Rica use their superior technique to have our runners chase the ball all game

McClaren is not a good coach, there is a reason he’s been an assistant for so long, but as noted in the video this is entirely about recruiting Jamaican-UK dual nats. The opportunity is there so it makes sense to take advantage of it.
The JFF has a very poor record in hiring/firing coaches for both the men's and women's teams. Steve McClaren could represent a change in their fortunes if he succeeds in qualifying the Reggae Boyz to the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
