Ian, you are most welcome and I am pleased that they offer some relief from our present problems. I count myself so very fortunate that some of what is no longer happening in real time has been recorded for us all to re-live. Where has the 15 years gone!! ?? Stay safe! ~JMW
3:52 That's a lot of whistle blowing. They don't usually blow the whistle there. The steam locomotives there are also equipped with horns, because they use the whistles for emergencies only.
I am very pleased that you have enjoyed the film and that I managed to make this and other films of Chinese steam railway activity before it ceased completely.
I was watching it in the night at high volume, I never expected that kind of whistle. After listening to it a couple of times, I got used to it. Cool vid BTW!
there was a SY in America working for the Knox and Kane railroad tourist operation after a fire consumed the steam shops the SY was badly damaged and also the dream today the SY 58 sit at the old shops in Kane Pennsylvania burnt and dismantled
@@bluespeedforce112 Actually SY 58 was sold to the Valley Railroad in Essex CT, and is now operating. Her appearance was changed, however, and no longer goes by SY 58. She now goes by New Haven RR #3025.
China is an AWESOME place....the last to phase out Steam trains but the leader in Fast Electric Train....Mind Blowing is they have Mag Lev trains!. From new to old in the same decade.
At 25:47 it looks to me like he wasn't really trying to sell you 3 pieces of steel but was asking you to pay a toll to be welcome on their property. Not buying them makes it so the police are more likely to show up if you happen to do anything that might be offensive to any of them.
QJ 2008 was save from scrapers troche and works for the R. J. corman railroad you could say there are three QJ on there boiler rebuilds two work for Iowa interstate and another working for R. J. corman railroad
Three actually, 7081, 6988 ( which was rebuilt in 2011 to more closely resemble an American-Built locomotive), and 7040 (renumbered 2008, given aesthetic modifications, and with it's smoke deflectors removed).
7081 is down due to needing the 5 year stay bolt inspection. They decided to park her a few years ago to get the work done on the 6988. Don't know what work has been done to her but a year ago when the Brooklyn Fire Department made the announcement that it was the last excursion the CSSPA said that they would like to use both engines up till the flue time ran out.
They certainly have whistles which they use for inter-cab signalling on double-headers. I can't be certain about air horns. You may be able to discern this from the film sound track.
Thanks for getting out there and making these films. They are an escape in these troubled times.

No leaking steam. No wheelslip. Very little smoke. Just pure expertise; a true lost art.
Indeed so. The crews appeared to be all young lads too.

???? Isn't this train from China and how in the world in Iowa???
@@yours_sincerely48 reason: yes, 7081 is now in Iowa along with 6988

JS 8419 was saved by the daytong locomotive works and works for the Boone and scenic valley railroad
The JS was probably more suitable than the QJ but still a powerful engine.
there was a SY in America working for the Knox and Kane railroad tourist operation after a fire consumed the steam shops the SY was badly damaged and also the dream today the SY 58 sit at the old shops in Kane Pennsylvania burnt and dismantled
A replacement should be able to be sourced in China but, as always, cash is a problem in such cases. Keep hoping!

Yes, their investment in rail is sustained. They spend more than the rest of the developing world combined.
They also build highways to nowhere to prove they're better than the West lol
2:46 hey i remember that number anywhere!
All we have now are those memories - Happy Days!😀

QJ 7081 was shipped to America and runs for the Iowa interstate railroad now and now on its 1472 mandatory boiler inspection
At least one of these great 'giants of steam' was saved! My films showed the scrap lines at Daban shed as you no doubt saw. Thanks for your update.

Long may they steam on. They are majestic and I am pleased to have recorded their final years in China.

Mainland China is a very interesting place. It has steam trains as well as high speed train.
I hope that you enjoy my films. Thank you for your interest.
@@johnmwarr Yes, I really enjoy them.

Music !!!!!😄
I don't care if they have loud whistle like that but it's ok
Отличная работа💪
Thank you for your comment.
Do I hear desal horns!?
Yes, sometimes, but the steam and diesels sound the same for safety reasons.
Why are QJ’s whistle a one tone chime
I'm sorry, your Majesty, but I don't know.
it's a 5 chime on a valve controlled by a lever, rather than a cord.
@@aceoftrainsproductions745 I appreciate that it is a manly sounding horn instead of a pipsqueak sound the English steam locomotives make.
@@ricksclick I was referring to the whistle, not the horn. But yeah the whistles heard here have a bit more of a presence than some in Britain IMO

do QJS have air horns

they do I took a look at a photo of QJ 6988 and found out they do have air horns on the right side of the boiler
Well done!
From what I can tell, all Chinese steam locomotives built between the 1960s and 1990s were fitted with air horns, so, yes.
What kind of air horns?
