Videos Like this are what set the two of you apart from everyone else. I can’t begin to tell you how much I have learned from you. Thanks for all you share with us
I've been selling flipped furniture on Facebook Marketplace for more than 3 years and I still learned something newfrom this video. Thanks for all the great videos and information!
Big tip to cheat the Facebook system, when you post something on Facebook, IMMEDIATELY go to the item listing under your items that you are selling and click on the "List in More Places" and then you will get more for sale groups to post to other than what you just selected when creating the post. Generally, I immediately select the groups with the largest members first, and when I do that tip, I'll select smaller groups. I can tell you everyone of my listings are around 40 groups, and every now and then it will let me do more. I currently have one item in 75 groups. I don't know how that occurred, ha. Give it a try, and hope it helps.
I sold my first item, Sorel boots, on Marketplace and like you said, in the first few hours I received a scam msg. First, asking if was available, then asking if I could send them to a relative in Texas because she was traveling, for an extra $100?? I was asking $100, for around $200 you can buy a new pair. I immediately called a friend that sells a lot of things on Marketplace to ask if it was a scam, she said most definitely, she suggested looking at the person's FB profile for signs of a fake profile. And they'll always want to use PayPal in get your account info to hack it..I'm working on 10 different projects to sell, so this was very helpful information I'll be using soon.
I am so glad you addressed Marketplace Scams! I am just starting out Flipping but have sold things previously, and the scams are so ramped. It's frustrating honestly.
This was a good review of information and very accurate! I always include this wording on my listings "I do not give out my phone number for marketplace transactions."
For furniture that someone is going to come to you that may work, however, if you are going to offer meeting with someone on another location (I live in a small town and most sales would be 15-20 miles away in other towns, I would want a phone number to call them if f I’m driving to meet them People tend to blow off if you don’t have their number and there are jerks who set up meets and don’t show just for the fun
Thank you!! You inspired me to starting flipping! I sold a velvet chair that I flipped for 160$! I’ve had a bunch of people trying to scam me! It’s soooo annoying!
I love watching your videos! Ive learned so much, so thank you. My cleaning business was severely affected by covid and i accidentally fell into furniture with updating my home office. Im hooked!! Trying to make this a full time business, so i really appreciate your knowledge. Your work is beautiful and i think you 2 are the cutest couple!! 💕
Very informative…thank you for sharing your knowledge with us. I do have a question I’ve been wanting to ask. How do you know the style of pieces (like mid modern & etc) did you learn as you went, do you have a book or website? Honestly I didn’t realize there were so many different styles until I became interested in flipping furniture. I truly do appreciate your talent.
I absolutely 💯 love you two for sharing all your talents and tips. I was born in Omaha, moved to Colorado when young. I am starting to gather pieces that I will soon begin with my flipping journey. Just need Temps to be warmer. I have been so motivated by you both. Go Huskers!!
Are you still with me in Colorado? If so, what part? I'm just starting this myself too, see how it goes. I think different areas here like different styles of furniture.
Thank you so much guys! I live in a row home so I have very little space to work on furniture, not many thrift stores but with these tips it will increase my profitability, thank you!
Thank you so much for mentioning the scams!!! I get them so much! They are trying to steal your number so they can create Google voice accounts and get numbers to use in future scams... Never give your number in the beginning!!
Hi ☺️! Thank u so much for sharing your furniture flipping experience with us, tips ,tricks, and trades ❤️ U have inspired me to get into the business in my city and I only wanted to ask one question. When selling all of these pieces, how do u go about taxes? Do u have to file any type of taxes for the sales?
Great information. !! I use FB marketplace to find a lot of my pieces. My area doesn't carrying a lot of things that I really want but I do search at least twice a day. Love these informative videos that you have. Thanks Lauren and Neiman for this video !!
This video was very helpful. I'm a long time Craiglist, Offerup etc seller and I agree about the phone number scam thing. I don't use FB Marketplace but my wife does and she's gotten a number of those Google scams. One thing I do when selling, in the rare occasion I HAVE to speak on the phone is set up a Google Voice number.
Good video and information. I sell and have sold decoupaged light switch covers and various other items on FBM. In the Dallas, Tx area, the furniture items have gone up in price quite a bit over the last year and a half or so. I remember when you could get items for 30-40% less than you can get the now. Refurbishing furniture has become a profitable venture and the prices are reflecting it. Love the sofa, it looked quite comfy!!
I have been flipping furniture for years and there used to be a tab for newest furniture. About a year ago they changed it and now you can’t get the latest ads, you have to wade through tons of ads which were posted weeks ago before you can get to any new pieces! Super frustrating Facebook!!!
Ahhh you know I have bought 3 pieces from a local gal who posts on market place but also has a space in a local antique kinda shop...but we don’t go to town really. I didn’t know you could follow. I like that she finds some once well made old pieces in old houses or barns and gives them new life plus furniture to buy new is a pain as local furniture stores are not selling floor models you have to order and it is sooooo slow we ordered 4 furniture pieces and a full mattress and box spring on July 4,2021 and we got them delivered today Feb 24, 2022! The mattress & box spring was for an old French iron bed frame (from that gal lol) when we went to pick up the old buffet. I just saw another sweet piece that with Birdseye maple little desk. So I will follow her now! And I do think I am getting that little desk! We had to tear down our very old house (1886 2 room school house and yes we saved the square nails and much of the full dimensional lumber and some is a 1/w wall on a stair way some a ceiling in an entry way and a barn door between the rebuilt new part and an addition to the old house that was built in 1991 (which we lived in (kids are grown and gone) so we are almost finished with the new house...we did as much as we could ourselves. Next update the addition. And hopefully can stay here for awhile! Thanks for your very informational videos. And we don’t ask for numbers just contact through the market place. We have had mostly great luck even made some friends!
Genuinely….this video helped me figure out a lot…😇 I’m trying to start selling things, I’m nervous about it all but I’m a rock in a hard place and I think this gave me a much needed shake to my wake up call…
I get so tired of the scammers. They are so annoying. Thank you for sharing your tips. You two are so amazing and informative. I didn’t know about the video part of my listings thank you so much for saying something about that I will definitely have to check that out. I want to see Nihman do a flip with you.
You're great at so many things. Just a suggestion about hanging pictures. They are best at eye level, and top of each one on same level like hanging from a clothes line. Tiny artwork is better grouped together, and incorporate larger, statement artwork on walls. When you have time in busy life, your walls and art are an opportunity. : )
I have a couple of questions, when listing your items that you have repainted / finished, do you list those items as new or used? How do you know what price to sell your items at? Do you use the average selling price for that type or item in local stores like Ikea or do you just decide on your own price you want to sell at?
When it's been repainted I personally list it as USED. NEWLY UPDATED or NEWLY RESTORED, USED. I have found that using that in caps at the beginning of the description helps. We sell new items from buying liquidation trucks. So I frequently have NEW, OUT OF BOX, ASSEMBLED or NEW IN BOX..and of course there are some that say NEW,OUT OF BOX, ASSEMBLED, DAMAGED pls see pics.
Thank you for your videos on the business side of furniture flipping! You always speak of accepting payments by Venmo (a platform I am not yet familiar with). You never mention PayPal? Is there a reason why you don't accept Paypal? Do you get push back asking for Venmo if the customer doesn't have a Venmo account? Maybe this could be a topic for a future video? 👍
Love the channel and love the content! Thank you for the advice. Terms that help explore the theater of the mind are essentially...essential for me. Buyers have really taken to the term "nursery" lately
Awesome information ...Thank you ...I was wondering If there's any way that Maybe Neiman and you Could Actually do like a split screen Where you can Walk us through "How to Edit Photos On our smart phones ..I Literally Have no idea what Icon Is for what etc. .This Would be Super helpful as I'm a Dummy when it comes to Editing any of my photos ..Please please ..you guys are the best and thank you for always looking out and providing very important information..stay blessed 🥰❣️👍
We can try! But in the meantime, there are SO many other channels and creators that have more info about that! Search for those types of videos on YT and you'll find tons of other great info as well (: Glad this was helpful!
The leg work to get the couch put together LOL! totally my method most of the time!!! Sitting on the floor and pushing around with my feet and legs! This video was SUPER helpful as well! Seriously FB Marketplace can be EXHUASTING sometimes!
Oh how I wish I had watched this video first! I just made my very 1st FBMP post and was so excited when I had 10 hits in the first 30 minutes of the post. Of course the 1st one asked for my nbr and I gave it to them 😭, but when they started asking for the verification post I knew something was up. Oh how I hope they cannot do anything else with my nbr!!! Anyway thanks for making this video!!!! Oh yes just one other note on scammers. I noticed that the list of names would say that person sent me a photo. When I opened it, it was just a photo of a text msg, different font, different color too. Just another red flag to mention.
Thank you for putting together this information. I don't flip furniture, but I do sell on Marketplace. It works well for me but, I have one pet peeve. I include all pertinent information in my listing. Still, I frequently have customers ask questions that are addressed in my description. I guess they see the title, get excited and send off a message w/o reading my description. Does this happen to you too?
It happens to me all the time and yes, I get a bit peeved as well. I spend so much time and effort putting details in so they don’t need to ask, then they waste my time asking again.😕
The upside to repeat messages is that every time you answer a question, it bumps/refreshes your listing. The algorithm will favor your post and place it on ‘Today’s Picks’. When people say “I won’t respond to: Is this Item available” they’re seriously missing out on their post performing well.
I sold a baby snuggle bunnies for easter last year. 12inX12in andPictures had a ruler with measurements and the description made it clear it was not a full size blanket. Goodness the headaches I went through and the number I got stuck with because people did not read and/or asked questions. Can't believe I am thinking of doing them again lol.
Another great video guys! I get most of my flip furniture from HiBid Auctions. I can pick up great pieces for cheap and there are 1,000's of items every week. Just a heads up 😉
Great video, thanks for all the great insights. One thing though I'd like to share: I do not agree with that ''don't give your phone number'' statement... while I do not give it to just everyone, my approach is to ask someone apparently serious to buy to write me on SMS or whatsapp (so we both have each other's phone number, for mutual security purpose). I will NEVER give my address to someone through Marketplace, because there is absolutely no ID. Agreed that someone could go and purchase a SIM card then throw it away after a crime, but this is likely rare cases. Also, if someone wants your stuff and is willing to send an advance, going through such a more personal and identified way raises confidence. I may be wrong, but so far it proved a succesful way to go. Again, I do this when and only when a person has proven to be serious, after several messages usually.
I've been looking for a RV and have run into SO many scammers. If they tell you to get ahold of my sister, aunt, parent, uncle etc thru gmail don't do it. I had one tell me to pay thru Ebay..it will be delivered to me from Michigan at no cost to me. Keep it for a week and send it back at now charge if I didn't want it but she was in NYC getting ready to ship out because she was a medic in the Army. Ppl have some good tales and I guess some ppl will fall for it. I have reported everyone I see. You'll see later their on vacation mode.
Great info. I do not flip furniture but like to refinish furniture and somehow started watching you pay off your student loans by flipping furniture. This was interesting. I had no idea FB marketplace can do all that it does.
Great video. As far as collecting cash, do you insist on getting the cash before they load the piece into their vehicle? If so, have you found a tactful way of asking? Also…just a dumb question, but do you have to collect sales tax?
I have been flipping furniture for a few months now and from my experience, once they agree to take it, I will just ask if they are paying cash or Venmo so they get the indication before loading the piece.
I buy and sell regularly on several platforms, and after the buyer inspects the item, and are sure they want it, I say "can we take care of payment before you/we load please?" or I may say "I need to get back inside, can we settle up before you load?" I've never had one person ask me to wait for payment once I have asked.
It is so hard to find the info I need you guys have helped me so much. I’ve been trying to link my page with my marketplace I understand I can’t do that now😅
Love this on the scams. Never give out your # for sure. I work in infosec so I know better. However, I try to never miss an opportunity to really mess with a scammer with a fake # and leading them on. After all, if they are messing with me, less time for them to mess with someone else. :-)
I give the number to the sherrifs dept. I bet they hate me for that...but who else would I have them call? Hopefully I'm not making some poor dispatcher or receptionist miserable?
When I sell things I always ask the so called buyers about their surroundings. For example what is the street they live off of or what school is around. It works
I really enjoyed your tutorial and learned some really great tips. Like don’t freak out if things don’t sell the first few days. The first two items I posted got nothing but scam responses and a few clicks. I’m planning to up my descriptions of the pieces to see if that helps get more looks! Any other tips for getting more looks?
Thank you for this! Even though you posted this 9 months ago, it was absolutely on time for me! I've just started flipping and right out the gate, I encountered someone trying to scam me on Craigslist. Facebook marketplace is something new to me so, like I said, right on time. Thanks again!!
Do you recommend including photographs in your listings of the furniture piece prior to flipping it? To show that the piece has been restored. Do you see any pros or cons to doing this?
I've been buying & selling on FB Marketplace for four or five years. As a single female, I definitely stay away from having someone come to my house to meet up. I've done it once and it worked out fine, but I would rather meet in a public parking lot. If I can have a friend or neighbor come over to be with me, then I would be ok having someone come to my house. Also, I only accept cash. Someone told me that somehow with Venmo the buyer can cancel the transaction; is this accurate?
Tremendously helpful video! Many MANY thanks for the warnings -- do you have any recent cautions about new scams that have come out in the past year? I'm gobsmacked (thank you, Gordon Ramsay) by the amount of creativity some people put into stealing when they'd make more money pursuing wealth and riches just by being honest!
The scams are real I have ppl asking for my phone number every time I list a piece of furniture. The very first time I listed I didn't know and gave my number but as soon as they said I would get a code and give them the code I knew it was a scam. I report the scammers now!
Hi Lauren. I've watched all your videos. You're amazing. I'm just starting and sold a few things. I need to sell pieces much more quickly. It seams to take a long time to sell bigger pieces. I'm not sure if you can offer help.
Thank you for your generous information. I dont know if you ship but I've seen (especially on Esty) where some will ship furniture. How do you find a shipper? I've asked many, but no one has responded. Once again, thank you.
Hey Blanca! I personally don't ship my furniture. Lindsay from Forever Pink Vintage has a shipping course guide that includes the shippers she uses and their contact info! Check her out on instagram

I buy and sell regularly on several platforms, and after the buyer inspects the item, and are sure they want it, I say "can we take care of payment before you/we load please?" or I may say "I need to get back inside, can we settle up before you load?" I've never had one person ask me to wait for payment once I have asked.
okay I have a lot to learn and this is a great tutorial for a senior great grandmommy.
It is so hard to find the info I need you guys have helped me so much. I’ve been trying to link my page with my marketplace I understand I can’t do that now😅
Awesome info! Thanks so much! Love the idea on no phone #! I never knew!
Thank you for this segment it was very important information for us new beginners.
I have learned so, so, so much from this great video. THANK YOU THANK YOU!
Thanks for all of this! I didn’t know about the video option.
When I sell things I always ask the so called buyers about their surroundings. For example what is the street they live off of or what school is around. It works
Geeze..I don't know where you guys are located...by me I can't GIVE things away on Facebook Marketplace.
Thanks for the heads up about scammers.
Good video, thanks guys
I really enjoyed your tutorial and learned some really great tips. Like don’t freak out if things don’t sell the first few days. The first two items I posted got nothing but scam responses and a few clicks. I’m planning to up my descriptions of the pieces to see if that helps get more looks! Any other tips for getting more looks?
Looking forward to the video. Do you have any videos on bleaching timber? If not, can you do one please :) loving your vids.
Yes I do! ruclips.net/video/VQzkDlpobYw/видео.html
Hope this helps!
@@FurnitureFlippingTeacher yes yes yes! Just the video I need in bleaching! Feeling so inspired 😍😍 thank you.
Great info... and GREAT hair cut!!!
Hello FFT community blessings to all 🙌💜🙌
Hi!
Great info, thank you! Did your FB commerce account require you to offer shipping!? I’m definitely not there yet haha
I have Only been finding high prices on fb market place lately!
I m learning so much from you ❤️❤️ thank you so much
Thank you for this!
This Rocks! Thank you!
Thanks for the info
Thanks for such great info!
Very through, I enjoyed learning while doing laundry lol
You guys are ADORABLE!!!!
The scams are real I have ppl asking for my phone number every time I list a piece of furniture. The very first time I listed I didn't know and gave my number but as soon as they said I would get a code and give them the code I knew it was a scam. I report the scammers now!
Great advice! Thanks guys!!
Great tips! Thanks!
Very good information!
Hi Lauren. I've watched all your videos. You're amazing. I'm just starting and sold a few things. I need to sell pieces much more quickly. It seams to take a long time to sell bigger pieces. I'm not sure if you can offer help.
Thank you. Very helpful!
For pieces that aren’t selling, do you take them off Marketplace for awhile? And if so, how long til you realist?
Terrific tips. Thanks again!👍🇨🇦🤠
Great advice!!!!! Blessings y’all HI DAD AND MOM and Nana tooooooo!!!!!
Thank you! You too!
Great video! No scams!! Question- does commerce page make you pay taxes??
Good one Lauren.
Great video!
