      Also if you can make sure that your burlap is straight by starting in the center and then securing the stays. From the front it just looks a little bit more professional in terms of placement to match those wonderful pieces you make. 😉

    • @soffiegirl1027
      @soffiegirl1027 3 года назад +8

      I second Lauren’s encouragement. Even if you start the business part (LLC, SCORP, etc) later in the year, you can still claim all the expenses and info retroactively. I personally suggest an SCorp bc you can offset your personal taxes with any losses/gains. As far as how to file the paperwork, I used legal zoom, and they made it super easy. It’s kind of like filing your taxes on a TurboTax in that they ask questions and they pull the appropriate forms and you just pay a flat fee. 💙

    • @soffiegirl1027
      @soffiegirl1027 3 года назад +5

      Omg yeah the taxes part was your main question, my bad. I personally just have a CPA I use every year. That’s also a flat fee and the only thing I do on my end is track my purchases, sales, mileage, supplies/equipment I purchase throughout the year on an excel sheet and give it to the CPA.

    FYI!!! One the velvet chairs, USE the bottom wraps for arm covers if you have too. We know how that part gets rubbed off and sometimes it helps to have those covered. A bit of hand sewing if needed, but well worth it or just give the extra material to whomever buys it. Althea

    I think when you don’t sell a piece - if you want to play with your market that is - you ought to try painting it that red or green.
    I just think it would be interesting to see if it sells then. I follow a farmhouse channel. If her furniture doesn’t sell, she repaints.
    Just a fun suggestion because I think this piece is awesome!

    Super jealous of the French Provincial set you found. I almost cried when you split it up. I have been looking for a set like that to redo for my own bedroom for 3 years. There seems to be a ton back east and in the Midwest, but shipping would probably cost the same, if not more than the price of the furniture itself. Can’t seem to find nice sets in the PNW.

    Question: it seems like you flip furniture for profit relatively easily. I'm wondering if that has to with the fact that you have a following now or is it all organic? I'm in a bunch of groups where people seem to be struggling selling their flips. I'm new to selling flipped furniture but not new to business nor new to furniture flipping (it was always for myself). I'm sure it depends where she lives also I believe she is sponsored by one of the paint companies since they also put her videos on their site. Where I live people wouldnt pay that much. But staging is also a great tip people love to see how it could be used.

    I'm curious why clean before sanding? Doesn't that mean you're double working cause you'll have to clean after sanding anyway?

    Hey Lauren, what would you recommend for someone who has little space and no garage? Can this be done outside in a pop up car shelter ect!? Rather than a garage.
    Thanks for the good content as always!

    OK so my biggest struggle is I’ve been trying to sell furniture in my neighborhood and I list my price is pretty low like at the $200 mark or $180 and I get no bites and I don’t want to keep lowering my prices it just really discourages me I don’t know how to make a profit and I do a really good job priming painting and making them look nice I don’t know if it’s just my neighborhood or am I pricing them too high🤷🏻‍♀️

    I would definitely love to do this with small pieces. I live in a private house apartment so I won’t have space to do anything big. How do you go about deciding what a piece would cost after materials, time and delivery. I know I won’t be able to make any deliveries (we have a small car).
    Also if Facebook Marketplace the only place you could post and sell? I know dealing with FB Marketplace things could be sketchy especially when it comes to payments or some trying to lowball prices.

    Hi Lauren , I know you’re so busy but can you tell me is your Bissell upholstery cleaner their regular one or the turbo ? I’m in Australia so they may be called different names for eg ours is called Bissell Spot clean upholstery cleaner but there’s a regular or turbo and I’m wondering weather the turbo is worth the extra $100AUD =$68US (so the turbo cost $400AUD=$272US VS the regular one which costs $228 AUD =$154 US I hope that makes sense …

    What do u use inside the drawers?
    Just hovering? What about smells of old peaces?
    Does mineral spirit sprayed on after hovering help? Is enough?
    I don't see anybody painting clear coats inside the drawers.

    hey Lauren, you think even if your not a "creative' or have a "creative" skill set, you could still do this?

    • @lesliejohnson7247
      @lesliejohnson7247 3 года назад

      I think lots of people don’t think they have creativity. It’s more a matter of getting in touch with that side of you.
      Look at Lauren! (Not saying she isn’t creative, at all!). She started by just paint. But if you look at the way she painted and now, you can tell she FEELS her painting. She has also developed an eye for color & metallics. And she has also got a strong talent for attention to detail.
      None of those are creative by themselves. But you put all of them together and look what she does!!
      I would strongly suggest you explore others. There seems to be a few “flip” painters here on RUclips. Watch them. I’m saying this mostly because in my opinion, it’s partly also the paints she uses. If you’re only going to use latex paint, then you defeat the purpose. Chalk type mineral paints are where it’s at to get the depth you need. (Clay too!) and this is also how you develop a feel for your furniture and projects.
      Good luck!
